Been using Mini Groundhogs for many years. Tiny, so light you barely know you have them, and basically indestructible. These are the best stakes out there, no question.

These minis are great for ultralight trips. I use a few of the regular size for main corners and guy outs and these for the remainder.

Big enough for most situations when tarp camping. All you would ever need for use with a freestanding tent.

I got these for a Habitude 4 person tent rainfly. My previous rainfly ripped without the extra stakes and hold down strings. I wanted to wait for a big wind to know if they held in the ground on the mountain were I am staying. They did hold in the glacial till here. Some things I hung from the inside of the tent swayed slightly, but no oilcanning of the tent as happened without the extra hold down strings and stakes.

Okay, so you've tried the other styles maybe looking for the lightest but they break or pull out. I have. Get the Mini-Groundhog and your search is over.

Just returned from a 10 day trip in NE Nevada. I had some windy nights and the hold was impressive.

Overall, I like these stakes because they are light and great for backpacking trips. However, I've already bent two of them just by using my body weight to insert them in rocky terrain (hiking in / around the AT). I should probably be more careful, but it's still irritating.

Short but strong and light. Not long enough if ground is soft but perfect in solid soil

Stakes are small and light-weight. Great for backpacking. Reflective rope is helpful because the red color blends with autumn leaves.

Tried sooo many different types of stakes that are easy to pack, lightweight and can hold up to trail use. I am a lightweight backpacker ( 11.5lb 3 season baseweight) and carry 1 large and 7 mini groundhogs for my Zpacks Altaplex tent. They have never let me down. Total weight of stakes is under 3 oz. I could save 1 1/2 oz going to titanium but titanium has let me down too many times. Well worth the additional weight.

I purchased these to lighten the load of my pack. I was expecting the shape of the aluminium stakes to make them as durable as heavier steel stakes. Too bad one shattered the first time I drove it into the hard soil. I wouldn't recommend using this stake in hard soils.

Drives into the soil easily, built strong, convenient reflective pull loop. I clip the Nite Ize camjam to the pull loop and use paracord to adjust rainfly tension. I own both the full size and mini groundhog. I never use any other brand. You might opt for MSR carbon core if weight is an issue as in long distance backpacking.
