Casual Outdoor Shoes
You don’t have to get decked out in high-performance Gore-tex and Vibram kicks every time you go for a nature walk. Sometimes it’s nice to pull on a pair of comfortable, low-profile casual shoes designed to be a bit more durable in the great outdoors. If you’re looking for footwear that falls somewhere between a pair of flip flops and mountaineering boots, check out our selection of casual outdoor shoes.
Slip on a pair of casual shoes
"Slip-on" or "clog-type" shoes are so convenient. Need something to wear while stumbling around an early morning campsite while you’re waiting for your coffee to boil? Or do your bruised and blistered feet need a break after that 20-miler? Slip-ons are the way to go.
Low-profile laced shoes for around town or in the woods
Some outdoor adventurers may want something a bit more fashion conscious than a pair of slip-ons (sorry, dads!).
A nice pair of low-ankle, laced casual outdoor shoes may be just what you’re looking for to hit a nice restaurant after a hike or bike ride. They’ll stand up to moderate outdoor activities, but still look great with a pair of nice outdoor pants and a collared shirt. You may even snag a table in that fancy 5-star place at the ski resort your friends were raving about.
Pay attention to the construction and materials of casual outdoor shoe uppers. If you spend time in wetter, rainier climates, you’ll want something waterproof or at least solid. If you’re more into visiting places like the desert Southwest, look into shoes with more breathable mesh construction.
Also, even though you’re going for a more relaxed feel, good shoe-lacing systems play an essential role when choosing your next pair of casual shoes. You never know when you’ll have to get out of that camp chair and take a walkabout.
