I guess I didn't read the description carefully enough because these are enormous and much bigger than I need. Unfortunately the smaller ones were out of stock, so I ended up buying some small ones (which are way too small) and these (which are way too big). Live and learn.

Works great in sandy conditions. Great hold. Have only used them a few times but so far have been impressed

A must have if you?re expecting any kind of wind. Totally worth carrying the extra weight.

looking for a solid solution for a tarp and wing in all, at least severe weather conditions, I found these pegs. Works fine, even excellent, during strong ( up to 7 Bft ), and very strong winds ( 7+ ). One thing though: it can snap some guy-lines and/or tear up the fabric of the tarp due to the fact that the pegs simply hold out. They sit tight in all most every ground, and once the wind catches, they will hold on.

Best I have found for anchoring your tent on Sandy Beaches. A bit pricey, but worth it!

Bought these for a multi day trip with gravel bar overnights on the Current River. In the past used the basic stakes that came with my tent with less than optimal results. These hammer in the gravel, rocks and sand very easily, with a twisting motion as they anchor. Held the tent and rain fly extremely well and removal was no fuss in the morning.

They hold your tent down in storms, I tested it. Other tents were flying away. I used them for the guy lines. I was not able to find any better ones, except really heavy steel military surplus stakes. But these are still light weight. I will get these for all my tents.

Good solid stakes that work well but somewhat overpriced

I recently bought them and used over the entire Patagonia where strong winds are always present. They fitted perfect over different ground, including compact ice. A great option to complete your standard tent stakes set.

I have gone through 3 tents with these stakes and still going strong

For whatever reason, costs I'd imagine, tent makers rarely suppy their tents with enough stakes or reasonably sturdy stakes. I've always suplanted the supplied stakes with a set (or 2) from MSR. These are tough, and lightweight besides. I can now carry enough stakes to actually guy out the fly properly, even withstanding the ferocious winds we often get in west Texas.

I bought these stakes to anchor my Kelty Noah 16 tarp and they do the job as expected. They hold in windy conditions. At ten inches long and with the twist configuration they are great in soft soils but almost impossible to place in hard pack or rocky soil such as most developed campsite fill. Other stakes are more appropriate in those conditions.

What do you do when you're setting up camp in soft soil? You pull out your MSR Cyclone Stake Kit, of course. The ingenious spiral design of the Cyclone Stake gives you a solid anchor point in soft soil, and works well with all size tents, shelters, and tarps, even in windy conditions. Extra strong, yet lightweight thanks to 7000 series aluminum, the Cyclone Stakes are your best holding power in all soil conditions. The loop at the top makes it easy to remove when it's time to break camp, and it's also reflective to keep you from tripping over it in the dark. As easy as it is to lose a stake, everyone should carry a Cyclone Stake Kit in their pack.
