Should be called the Bug House for all the spiders it attracts! Nice item, but they should really update the door so it zips all the way open and put a double zipper slider on it taboot. Small finicky zipper sliders like all tents these days.

Great addition to my elixer 2 tent. Simple set up and extremely functional in serving its purpose. Steak and guy it out taught with your tent, and it will perform as designed. I look forward to utilizing it on most my excursions regardless the additional weight.

I've used MSR products since my teenage years. I'm now 52. I'm still using a stainless cook pot from when I hiked the Appalachian Trail when I was 24. MSR makes some of the most reliable gear out there. I bought a hubba hubba 2 and decided to add on the gear shed. First, the tent itself is well thought out and made of high quality materials. Super light as well, even with the additional ground cloth. Second, I don't know what I would do without the gear shed. I'm solo motorbiking and the two fit in the tent stuff sack. The shed provides me the room I need for the additional riding gear and a place to throw everything when the afternoon thunderstorms hit. This way I can live a more civilized life in a tent that has plenty of room for playing cards, leaving the wet and smelly stuff outside the tent. I've been hit with a lot of weather and the two stand their ground, keeping me and my gear dry and happy.

Combined with the Hubba Hubba 2 it was the perfect tent for a 16 day bike tour across Oregon in late October. Lot's of space to store wet gear and to cook in a storm.

Really liked it. Sheltered gear (camera, clothing, etc) during multi day one site stop. Tarp could work but trees in right location needed.

Great for dirty gear but does not connect directly to the main tent ( bugs/ weather can get in ). No easy solution to remedy. 5/5 for gear shed and 3/5 for extending your main tent for additional backpacking space. Fits in with the main tent bag.

This Gear shed attachment for the Elixir is awesome! I was little worried before purchase after reading other reviews about how easy it would be to attach. After a few nights backpacking and camping with the gear shed, I'm stoked on it! First time setting it up was semi tricky, but 2nd and 3rd time I set it up super smooth and taught. It saw some light rain and snow with medium 20 mph winds the other weekend and preformed great! I had 3 other peeps, dog and my gear hanging out cooking and chilling all evening in my 2 man tent with the attachment on while winds roared and rain drizzled outside, we hung out all warm and comfy out of the elements. I am looking forward to having this as a basecamp for the group when weather is less than ideal but you still want to hang out and eat. I was super impressed when the Gear shed is all sealed up how little breeze gets under the edges. It's great to listen to the winds roar outside and feel very little air movement in the tent on cold winter nights. Then in the morning when the sun hits the tent and warms up you can open the vestibule on one side of the Elixir and the Gear Shed on the other side and get a great breeze through the tent as the openings face opposite directions and force air flow though tent to wick away any condensation that had built up through the night. Very well engineered shelter attachment that was worth the pickup.

I wish my other tents had this option. Lets face it, we have all been in a tent with our packs in the vestibule and felt a little crammed. Or been in that 0 day with the want for some extra space to cook or sort gear in the down time. This gives you that option. My 5 year old calls it the card room (uno if you were wondering). The side on the tent side could have a little higher ceiling, but with out tossing out the rain fly of the tent and making the gear shed and tent fly 1 piece, that's not a option. And they make that exact thing (they can remind me the tents name I am talking about), So where they have seen the need to improve they did, And that's not what this is, This is that extra space we all know we need for ""those days"" (and nights). I would buy it again and recommend this to a friend with out hesitation. Great Idea!

Just camped a wet week two-up in an Elixir 2 with this as an add-on. It's a very useful addition giving you safe storage for a good amount of gear, plus an eating/dressing area, and it's easier to get in the tent without spreading mud to the interior. The downsides -it's hard to get it to pitch really taut, which is a minus in the rain - the door design is a bit awkward to open and close - leaks! during a decent few hours rainfall once the fabric was wetted out it began to leak along the seams and the top of the ceiling. Not disastrously but enough that it was no longer a dry area to put stuff and I would not rely on sleeping in it. Also, be aware that there is no inner tent with this so anything leaning against the outer wall is going to get wet, which in a small space means you have to place them fairly carefully. It also rules out sleeping in it if you're biggish. I'll continue to use it but might wash it with Nikwax or something to try and improve the waterproofing.

I've had this a couple years now. No problems with it. Just love the added storage space mostly out of the weather to keep the packs in side. This shed fits in the original hubba hubba bag if you want just one tent bag. So easy to set up. Canoeing, packing or a quick car camping it's a must have accessory.

I picked up the green version of the Shed a couple years ago and have used it about a dozen times with my Hubba NX when base camping over the past 3 years - usually when there is going to be adverse weather. I like a lot of things about the Gear Shed - it integrates nicely with the Hubba and doubles my storage space to bring gear under cover. I don't mind that it doesn't come with a complete floor - my tent vestibule does not have a floor, and a floor would hold in water when I enter/exit through the shed. I have two nits that if corrected would make the Shed a 5-star superstar attachment. (1) use a lighter weight fabric, closer to the fabric used on the tent fly (maybe drop from a 40d to a 20d??) which would drop the weight of the Shed 25-35% below 1.5# making the combo weight of my Hubba and the Shed reasonable for carrying on wet backpacking trips (i.e., keeping the combined weight under 4#), and (2) incorporate the ""rain gutter"" design into the Shed zipper (like on the Hubba NX fly) so that rain and water would be channeled around the zipper instead of pouring in the Shed when I open the Shed to enter/exit. Improving ventilation to reduce condensation would be nice but that may add weight and complexity to a simple design.

I bought this as an addition to my Elixir tent, without realising its full potential. On longer backpacking or hiking trips the Elixers vestibules can get a little cramped for space and bits of your gear start to drift out into the elements. The Gear Shed adds a considerably useful amount of space for storage etc at little cost to the space in your pack. I have been able to use mine for cooking In poor weather, this would have previously been impossible in the vestibule. The Gear Shed is also of solid design. My concern was that the Elixers tent is of strong and robust design and the Gear shed appeared to be just clipped loosely to the tent, however the no security or strength is lost with the Gear Shed added.

I bought this extension 2 years ago and I am rallye happy with it. It allows us to bring all our gear near the tent, without having to sleep with bas at our feet. Very easy to install.

Don't know how I missed the Hubba Gear Shed before.....and I don't know how I've lived without it. I do a lot of horse camping. I have a pack saddle for one horse, to carry gear and I ride the other horse. This has kept me outdoors, even after my old back gave out, transferring the gear load to the horse (I still use only ultralight gear, with pack weight less than 60 pounds, or something stays home). The Hubba Gear Shed provides a dry saddle storage area, out of the frequent rain and heavy dew (Florida, North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, etc.). The Gear Shed now solves one problem unique and critical to horse camping.....You don't ever want to put a wet saddle on a horse and you don't want to sit/ride in one all day long....both will create galling, on the horse's backs and on the riders rump and legs. Trust me, it's miserable for both pack horse, riding horse and rider. This makes the Hubba Gear Shed a most critical and necessary piece of gear. After buying and using the MSR Hubba Hubba tent for a couple years, I was perusing the MSR website and stumbled onto the Hubba Gear Shed....""OH MERCY"", said I....""I got to have one of them"". I bought one....and I now have plenty of dry storage for the pack saddle, my riding saddle...my other gear and the horse feed which also must stay dry. There's now room in the tent for the pitbull....instead of sleeping with smelly old saddles and saddle pads....also miserable. LOL. I highly recommend the Hubba Gear Shed for cyclists, horse campers, car camping, etc. I'm buying another one for the other side of the tent, for the other door....so I can stay under cover when I cook (very carefully) in the rain....using my 21 year old MSR Shaker Jet stove. Not to worry, the stove sits out in the rain (and cooks just fine) while I stay covered and dry. For the record, I do NOT cook in the tent, under the tent fly, or under the Gear Shed.....not even with an MSR.

You also use it in Ferrino Pumori tent. I tested it in two extreme conditions and it's answer pretty well. The first one was with a Ferrino Pumori tent in high mountain, 4000-5000m in the middle Andes range from Chile, with strong wind conditions, but it did not compromise the stability of the tent. The second time, i tested in rainy and very wet conditions in Cochamo (Chile), and it was not very good, his waterproof is not the best and it hasn't thermosealed in floor. I have never tested with snow. Really lightweight and easy to set.

My wife and I love to go backpacking with our dog, which is an 85 pound golden retriever. It was very cramped in the Hubba Hubba with all of us crammed in. The gear shed addition drastically increased the space available. Now we have room for all of our gear and the dog in the ""dog"" shed while leaving us with a lot of room in the main tent. We also use the gear shed while bike touring. Both of our bikes can fit in the gear shed when it is raining at night. I only have minor complaints about the shed. It does not shed water very well unless you have the tension perfect using the tent stakes. I also wish that the floor covered the entire area instead of just a partial floor.

I have used the gear shed only a few times so far, since my dog has grown into a way bigger dog than expected. It's easy to put up (after watching the youtube video), awesome to have extra space to keep gear dry and in wet weather to get out of the tent without making our sleeping stuff wet. Also its a great spot to keep the dog confined at night and he still stays dry. When I go backpacking I don't usually bring it because it adds on quite a bit of weight, if the forecast is for heavy rain though, it's worth the extra effort..

I'm all about systems, any piece of gear I buy gets a thorough inspection on how and what system it will fit in, and this piece of gear is a must have for anyone with the ""Hubba"" or ""Hubba Hubba"" tents. As stated in the title this piece of gear will add .5 person to either tent, turning a Hubba 1p to 1.5p. It is excellent for solo trips in the cooler months where more gear is required and you can store it safely in the shed. Or if your furry friend tags along and you need the extra space for him to sleep (be it in the tent or in the shed). At roughly 1/3 the weight of the Hubba 1p, and almost doubles the tents coverage, it provides endless possibilities for storage convenience, and comfort.
