When the air gets chilly, there’s nothing better than getting cozy by the campfire. While the classic hot chocolate and hot cider are campfire staples in cold weather, why not try adding a little flair to those classic winter beverages when the temperatures really drop? Mixing up a batch of any of these hot adult beverages will keep those long winter nights from getting too cold and may just give you a new appreciation for those frosty winter months.
1. Tequila Hot Shotty
Spice up your favorite chocolaty drink with this adult version of Mexican hot chocolate. With only four ingredients, two of which are optional, this boozy treat is easy to make. Simply pair an ounce of your favorite anejo tequila to every four ounces of your hot chocolate mix. To really impress your friends, top it off with whipped cream and a sprinkling of chili powder. This hot beverage is sure to thaw out even the coldest nights that winter has to offer.
2. Adult Apple Cider

Everyone loves the tangy taste of warm apple cider, but this adult version of that classic winter drink is so good you may just want to keep it all to yourself. Heat up some apple cider in a large pot on the stove and once it’s nice and steamy, add a tablespoon or two of nutmeg, a few sticks of cinnamon and maybe even a dash of orange juice. Once those ingredients have had a chance to simmer, add the good stuff: about two cups of bourbon or even spiced rum. This drink not only tastes good, but it’ll also have your campsite smelling delicious.
3. Hot Toddy

This is probably the most famous hot cocktail, and once you taste it, it’s easy to see why. It’s sometimes called the Whisky Skin and is simple enough for even the novice drink mixer to make. Boil water and mix in honey, lemon, and cinnamon or nutmeg, add your favorite brand of whiskey, and you’re ready! One of the best things about this drink is that it also works with scotch and bourbon. This hot adult beverage has been known to be a remedy for colds, but even if you’re not feeling under the weather, it works just as well for the winter blues.
