If you have an allergy to gluten, it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy delicious campfire snacks like everyone else. It just means that you have to be little more creative and inventive, which, like camping, can be quite adventurous and fun. You can come up with unique snack ideas everyone will love, while at the same time enjoy some of the same popular, and surprisingly gluten-free, snacks that those without gluten allergies prefer. Besides being gluten-free, all of the campfire snacks below are inexpensive, practical, and are great for all ages. Take these with you and enjoy the camping munchies with everyone else!

Marshmallows

That’s right! Most marshmallows are completely gluten-free, although it’s always a good idea to read the label just to be safe. They are not only delicious, but they are one of the long-standing favorite campfire snacks. If there is a fire, there is a marshmallow begging to be roasted on it. It doesn’t get much better than sitting around a fire and roasting marshmallows while telling spooky tales. It is, after all, a camping tradition.

Popcorn

Popcorn is not just for movies and theaters. It is a great campfire snack, as well, and contains no gluten. Once again, check the label to be sure nothing has been added to comprise its naturally gluten-free status. Popcorn offers the best of both worlds because it is both tasty and nutritious. It’s a light, low-calorie snack filled with high levels of polyphenols, a naturally occurring antioxidant plant chemical that helps fight free radicals and prevent premature aging. Enjoy this delicious snack for the sake of youth!

Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies

You can make a batch of your own homemade gluten-free chocolate chip cookies to pack with you on your trip. You can have fun while baking them, as you get to control what ingredients you use and how much, and while sharing them around the campfire. You can make them as chewy or as crispy as you so desire. They can be enjoyed on their own or, if you want to get fancy, you can substitute them for graham crackers to make S’Mores! Chewy cookies work especially well for this purpose and are quite the tasty treat!
