The UL2 xl is roomy even for two tall adults. On a particularly rainy backpacking trip we spent many hours playing cards in the tent with all our rain gear hung up to dry and still had enough space! The fly zipper will occasionally get stuck on the zipper wind flap when the fabric is very wet, but it's a minimal problem. Very happy with the performance of this tent for hiking, camping and bike packing thus far!

The specs look great on paper - roomy, tall, easy entry, light. However, in the pursuit of lightness BA went too far .. way too far. Unless you are setting up the tent on sand or grass the floor WILL tear. And if you are in a rocky mountainous environment with limited space to pitch the footprint will not protect the floor adequately because it itself tears. The fabric is extremely fragile and does not look like it will stand up to serious wind. If you will be using the tent in a moderately demanding environment you need something with AT least 30D floor and 20D fly. The attached insges show how much patching was required after a single use in such environment.

This is the best tent I have ever used! Believe me when I say it, I have tried them all! I'm not a tall person (5'11") but I do have a long torso which can be odd when sitting inside a tent. I sit much taller than the average person and when you lay down you can't bend your torso, so my head seemed to always be touching any tent I laid in. I also prefer to use a 30" pad. This new XL model gives the perfect amount of head and foot space while only adding a miniscule amount of weight. I also loved that it had equal dimensions and no tapered end! Also love the lichen/mercury color. Look forward to seeing a one person xl version one day.

I had a copper spur hv ul2 for years, but when I upgraded my pad we needed a 50" min wide tent. I was SO STOKES BA made the xl cuz I really didn't want to sell my old tent since I love the copper spur line - great balance of weight and features for a freestanding tent. On her maiden voyage, I spent 3 nights in 40-plus mph wind, rain, and snow in the Grand Canyon. The tent flopped on my face once and required me to pile more rocks out on my pitch during a particularly brutal gust. But if you pitch this thing right it will hold up to the wind beautifully and it was quiet all things considered. At first, I was bummed that there was extra length, cuz I didn't need it and it felt like extra weight compared to my old one. However I was thankful to be able to fit my pack at my feet during a long night of precip in the desert. The fly design is REALLY smart - I love the easy in/out the side zipper provides and it vents well. This redesign is great. It's one of the only tents that will fit 2 25" pads at a very attractive weight (just under 3lbs if you stake some of the wind guys with rocks). None of the other tents compare imo. My only complaint is it's a bit slippery, but once your pad is in there, you won't notice. It's only an issue if you plan to use this as a 1 person option.

Care Instructions
Storage
Always make sure your tent is dry and free of debris before storing. Fold and roll your tent a different way each time to avoid permanent creases. Store in a cool, dry place. Never leave your tent in hot temperatures (such as a car trunk or attic space) for long periods of time, as it will damage the material coatings. Storing your tent damp can result in mildew growth, which may cause your tent to smell, leak, or delaminate. Mildew damage is not covered under warranty.
Cleaning
For light cleaning, sponge the product with warm water (not hot).
For more thorough cleaning you will need
Wash basin (or bath tub)-Warm water (not hot)
Waterproof Gear Cleaner (Big Agnes recommend products like Nikwax Tech Wash)
Sponge
Submerge your gear in warm, clean water. Gently agitate with hands. Empty dirty water. Repeat until most of the excess dirt/grime is removed and water is mostly clear
Apply waterproof gear specific wash and gently work into fabric with sponge
Rinse gear thoroughly
Hang it up to dry
Triple check that your gear is completely dry before storage or use
Do not dry clean or machine-wash. Detergents and dry cleaning solvents will damage the fabric and ruin waterproofing
Never use hot water, bleach, liquid detergents, or dishwashing liquids
Allow to dry COMPLETELY before storage or use
Avoid prolonged direct sunlight as UV exposure can compromise waterproofing
Seam Sealing
Big Agnes tents are seam sealed as part of their manufacturing process! This seam tape alone is durable enough to prevent water leakage. Any seams that have been taped do not need to be seam sealed with a liquid sealer unless you want extra protection. Make sure the seam-sealer is completely dry before re-packing your tent. Damage caused by misapplication may void warranty.
Zippers
Keeping your zippers clean will help keep the coils and sliders from wearing out. If filled with dirt, vacuum or brush zippers before storing tent. Big Agnes recommend Gear Aid Zipper Cleaner and Lubricant.
