Early to bed and early to rise. This is something that should always be practiced, but especially if one wants to sleep better while camping. Exposure to sunlight helps the body maintain a natural sleep cycle and rhythm.* Staying active during the day will cause the body to become tired and getting to bed early will keep you in line with your natural sleep cycle.

Sleep in a tent instead of a camper. If one sleeps in a tent versus a camper there’s far more chances of being exposed to the first rays of the morning light. The tent should be made out of materials and have colors that sunlight can easily penetrate. If possible, keep the tent screened windows open on clear nights to allow the sun’s rays to shine through in the morning.

The ground is often hard, has several hidden pits and small holes and is never perfectly even. This can give way to waking with terrible back aches, muscle pain; and an overall restless and uncomfortable night. Make sure you pack an air mattress that’s just right for you!

Last but not least, the sleeping bag. It is so important that the bag you choose will keep you warm during the night. The last thing anyone wants is to shiver in the cold. The sleeping bag you choose to take should be appropriate to the weather conditions you anticipate before leaving.
