The evening is winding down, the fireflies are lighting up, and you find yourself craving something sweet. But campfire desserts can be more than just s’mores (not to knock delicious, gooey s’mores). Be it campout or cookout, these simple and sweet campfire treats will bring mouth-watering goodness to the table.

Baked Cinnamon Apples

sweet campfire treatsIngredients (per serving):
1 apple (as with most baking, Granny Smith work great)
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon apple cider
1 tablespoon oats
1 tablespoon raisins
2 teaspoons butter
Aluminum foil

Directions:
Make a hollow in the top of the apple using a paring knife or corer. Combine the brown sugar, apple cider, oats, raisins and butter (you can even do this before leaving home and store in a sealable plastic bag till needed). Spoon the mixture inside the apple, wrap it in foil, and cook in the campfire embers for about 12 minutes or until the apple is soft. Delish!

Campfire Éclairs

sweet campfire treatsIngredients:
One tube of crescent rolls
Vanilla pudding
Chocolate frosting
Non-dairy whipped topping
Aluminum Foil

Directions:
Wrap the dough of an individual the crescent roll around the end of a camp fork, making sure to close up the very end. Loosely wrap the dough with foil. Cook over your campfire until golden brown. Now you have a tube with one open end. Fill the tube with vanilla pudding and top with chocolate frosting and whipped topping. Bon appétit! Don’t fret if you accidentally leave both ends of your crescent tube open, just call it a campfire cannoli instead.

Campfire Cinnamon Rolls

sweet campfire treatsIngredients:
1 tube cinnamon roll dough
Sticks

Directions:
Spiral the cinnamon roll dough around the sticks, pinching the ends to keep the dough firmly in place. Roast over hot coals as you would a marshmallow, turning to ensure even cook. They do take a bit longer than marshmallows so be patient and make sure they are cooked through. Slide the cooked cinnamon roll off the stick, top with icing from the can and enjoy! This is an easy recipe that the even the kids can handle.

Banana Boat

sweet campfire treatsIngredients:
Bananas
Chocolate chips (you can also try butterscotch or white chocolate chips)
Mini marshmallows
Heavy duty aluminum foil
Knife

Directions:
Leaving it in the peel, cut the banana down the middle and spread open slightly. Fill the banana with chocolate chips and marshmallows. Wrap in aluminum foil and place in hot coals for about 5-10 minutes, turning and rotating often. It’s that simple! Sprinkle with crushed graham crackers to make a “s’mores split.”
