As a climber, landscape artist, and filmmaker, Renan Ozturk is renowned across the adventure and creative community. We asked Ozturk—who’s also a North Face expedition climber and Sony and National Geographic photojournalist—to share his must-have adventure gear and accessories. Here are his picks.

Julbo Shield Sunglasses with Spectron 4 Lenses

I actually didn’t know this before our Everest expedition, but most sunglass manufactures don’t make the ultra-dark Cat4 lenses like these in order to truly protect your eyes.  I used these Julbo Shield Sunglasses with Spectron 4 Lenses, and they protected my eyes on the blinding white glaciers at the roof of the world. I now use them around town to really give my eyes a vacation in bright conditions.

Goal Zero Yeti 150 110V Portable Generator

The Goal Zero Yet 150 110V Portable Generator unit has been a hero for us all around the world on expedition as well as during power outages at home. It’s survived being four feet deep in snow for weeks in Alaska and continued thriving well in the humid jungles of Burma. It’s a must-have add to your adventure arsenal.

The North Face Fanorak Pullover for Men

I’ve worked with The North Face for over 15 years and this North Face Fanorak Pullover is a recent retro offering that I’ve been digging. It’s been perfect for chilly mountain art sessions below the 14K ft peaks of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. It’s high fashion paired with function!

The North Face Etip Gloves for Men X-Large TNF Black

The North Face Etip Gloves are sort of a secret weapon in how light but how warm they are.  I usually take three pairs of these on an expedition. I love how dexterous you can be, especially  while operating cameras and phones with touchscreens. They really protect my hands more than I anticipated, and they’re now crucial on long trips or anywhere with extended exposure!

Katadyn Base Camp Pro 10L Water Filter

The Katadyn Base Camp Pro water filter is my favorite type of filter for basecamp. Just scoop it in the stream to fill it with water and let gravity do the work. Investing in proper hydration like this is one of the most crucial but overlooked things if you want to have a fun and successful trip!

The North Face Rolling Thunder 22″ Duffel Bag

I always travel with the North Face Rolling Thunder bag. They are expedition proven across the globe, and even when I stack them as a 100-pound overweight bag, they roll smoothly on the ‘fat tire’ wheels. It’s also worth noting all the extra-duty handles. These rollers are built for the long haul.
