iphonesIn a world that relies so heavily on technology for our everyday communication and tasks, you can’t be too prepared when it comes to an energy source. Solar panels and gear are becoming a more affordable and portable choice for those who like to charge their electronics when nary an outlet is in sight — the great outdoors, for example — but if you’re the crafty type and want to save a few bucks, this DIY charger project is for you. This project in particular focuses on charging any iPhone or iPod up to the 5, and uses the most basic of materials, some of which you may already have laying around the house. While it probably isn’t enough to continuously power your iDevice on a single battery, this is a great little charger to have in your survival kit or pocket for emergency situations where a little juice is all you need. If you do want to use it as a primary charger, be sure to have some extra 9-volt batteries on hand. Have fun and happy trails!
