A great quality backpacking/camping air mattress here! Just the thickness that I like it at. And the upgraded valve works very efficiently at adding/ manipulating the air content of the mattress. The outer material seems to be of pretty robust quality too. . though I always use it inside a tent, never directly on the ground (I'm here in Arizona, lol ?????).

Thank you I tried several china brands from Amazon that bust seams on the first fill. This pad has gone through a dozen nights of sleep without any issues. Feels like a buy-it-for-a-lifetime product.

Good weight, not too loud. Applicable for car camping and backpacking. Size is bigger than backpacking pads but not a deal breaker. Been using it on and off for 3 years

Good quality! Does not take alot of breaths to fill it up like older ones did.

Great pad! Bare skin doesn't stick to this pad. Not sure what magic material works like that, but I like it. Getting the wider one makes a big difference in being able to move a little without finding the ground.

Only a little over 6 months old and treated carefully (its an investment!". Always on a tent floor. But it began to deflate over night with it being pretty much flat by the morning. I am thinking that the days of the old robust thermorest sleeping pads are gone. Now we are left with a product that really is not suited to the rigors of outdoor use. Lightweight, yes. Packable, yes. Tough as the old ones?....No! I expected it to be at least as good as the old originals, but I am left disappointed. Durability has been sacrificed for the opther attributes. Shame really.

Our first night in camp and my old pad had a hole, yes I should have tested before leaving, and the ground was very rocky. We went into the nearest town and found an REI store. Went with the Apex. I slept like a baby all week long. The foam inside was perfect! Couldn't feel any rocks or uneven spots because of it. The only downside is size when rolled up. Takes a lot of space in an already full pack but that's a small downside for a good nights sleep in the back country. I would highly recommend this pad to anyone.

Bought this pad as my old pad was no longer good for 3 season camping the pad is excellent although a little on the heavy side but expected for this size of pad the pad came with a compression bag but sadly not with a pump sack or repair kit which was very disappointing so will have to fork more cash out for these as although it is a self inflating pad it dose need a few more breaths to make it comfortable hopfuly thermarest will include a stuff/pump sack with this product in the future

Perfect pad for me .. I was looking for max durability and good comfort .. Durability is key because I have 240 lbs and 6'5" and as a landscape photographer I am tempted mostly by raw wilderness far from civilization. I've read multiple reviews down here that pad could turn into the one big bubble, but this phenomenon is mostly caused by inflating the pad with breath that puts a lot of moisture into the foam and cells and they then could disintegrate .. I know this for years so I inflate all self-inflating pads with small device or bag and this never happened to me. My previous TaR self-inflating pad survived 15 years .. I have this pad only two years and was sleeping on that maybe 30-50 times and that it works now doesn't mean that it's not going to break tomorrow, but based on my experience I have utmost trust and confidence into this pad. Not the smallest one, not the lightest one but chosen for a big and heavy guy as very comfortable and durable pad that one can rely on ..

This is very comfortable, warm, quite sleeping pad. I was warm in 30F. Easy to inflate and pack it back. Great balance between size and the comfort.

Bought this pad a few years ago. Used it on a few thru hikes above the polar circle, I'm really satisfied. It is a little bit bulkier, but when you are hiking in sub zero temperatures in the remote wildernis you need a pad you can rely on! I recommend

I bought this product 6 months ago been using it for a while now. After 2 months the self-inflating wouldn't work anymore. Witch I'm really disappointed of because its now winter camping and my inflating bag isn't compatible ether. Still a great and comfortable matress.

I have reason to trust that Thermarest produces a quality product; and I am still learning how to make best use of this pad to my liking. Weight - 5/5 Pretty great pack-ability! Compresses well; lightweight Comfort - 4/5 Like I said, I am still learning how to best use this inflatable pad and special valve system. It has been easy to over-inflate by blowing in extra air. However, it held tight for two days with no refilling...sooo maybe it deserves a 5 star here had it not been for my lack of expertise? Size - 5/5 I'm 5'10 and 165lbs - I got a smaller width hoping to save on weight, but it is rather small and I'd like a bigger space to toss and turn. Because it compresses so well, I really think this is an easy decision for a wider pad to any potential buyers. Material - 4/5 I was testing in my backyard - flatter than most mountains - and felt like I was sliding around in my bag. So, I opted to fit the pad inside of my bag. It fit perfect with extra room for the hood and I felt very secure. This may make more sense anyways? Like I said, I'm still learning and trying to find favorable equipment along the way.

If you like compromise and use your gear for broad type of activities, go for it ! If you look for for the most something (light, cheep, confortable, winter) this pad is not the one you are looking for !

Bought two. comfy but one popped a few days into our trip. As long as this isn't a known defect that will re-occure we'll replace it with another because it is a great pad.

I purchased this pad knowing it was over my self imposed 1 pound rule. But I did so for comfort and quiet. I still own and use the neo but having that little extra bit of foam in the Apex made it way more comfortable. And I don't miss the crinkle of the neo. One down side of any self inflator is the packing it up part. It takes skill and practice to roll it up tight enough to fit back in the stuff sack and even then it takes up more room in the pack.

I've had the opportunity to use this mat for about 10 nights over the last 2-months, all of which have been winter camping. I have been really happy with how comfortable it's been and insulating me from the cold. The rolled-up size is bigger and a little heavier than I would like but based on how much more comfortable I am at night it is fully worth it. I also like that it's quiet to sleep on with minimal crunchy/creeky sounds when rolling around. I had been using a Thermarest ProLite for the past 10+ years and I wish I had switched over the Apex years ago!

2? thickness is perfect for a side sleeper such as me. I appreciate the evolution of their Winglock valve, it works perfectly. Weight of 1 lb, 12 oz is dreamy for backpacking, but substantial enough for car camping too. The extra 25 in. width is nice to be able to roll around some. And the color is absolute ?? to help keep u warm! ????
