this pad is all round just great super light, warm, durable and comfy. can't ask for more than that from a sleeping pad. was on the fence on buying it because of the price but it is well worth it if you want a pad to do it all.

I bought XTherm NXT because my current mat had a low R-value and was not warm enough on cold nights. The new Thermarest XTherm NXT performed well on a recent 3 day hike into the Kosciuszko National Park in Australia. All three nights were below zero temps, the coldest being around -7C. Combined with a good sleeping bag, I was warm and comfortable. The NXT packs down to a reasonable size and the stuff sack is big enough that you don't need to be overly careful how you roll the mat to get it back into the bag, including the pump sack. The pump sack was a great addition and, while it take longer to inflate, it's far more relaxing than blowing a mat up. I'd advise keeping the mat slightly under inflated when you go to bed because your body temp will raise the pressure in the night and the mat pressure will increase. It's not hard to release a bit of air if you need to but better to avoid the problem in the first place. The XTherm NXT is a good thickness and keeps you off the ground even if you like a slightly softer inflation like I do. the mat is a bit noisy when you roll over but it is not noisy for small movements. I am 183cm tall and bought the large version. Combined with the extra width of the large, I did not have to worry about rolling around in the night and staying on the mat. The extra room was worth extra weight in my opinion. If you're less than 183cm, consider the regular or regular wide version.

I've had the Neoair x-lite w's, and the uberlite. This is the most durable and warm by far, and it's worth the weight if you want to have a inflatable pad that lasts a long time and is warm enough to camp over snow without issues. It would be perfect if it's available in short size: this would cut down the weight and bulk a bit!!

I have had the previous three versions of this pad, love every one of them. Usually I buy the big sizes just for extra space to roll, I bought this one regular size for the light weight for an eight month hiking trip, camping across 5 states (3 long trails). I have used previous versions in all temps from sleeping on top of snow to the beaches of Mexico. They have proven to be the best pad I have ever used.

I used my last Xtherm for 9 years. This new model is a solid upgrade. The valve upgrade and increase in thickness are big improvements. Spent my first night in it at -15F warm against the ground. They are the best.

At this point I have only used my new pad once but it was -27F and I was warm and comfortable. Absolutely love it.

I've used these pads on the Appalachian Trail, Iditarod Trail, Arizona trail and more. The new valve is a big upgrade as it allows you to inflate the airpad faster. I selected the Regular/Wide X-Therm for an independent solo trek on Alaska's Iditarod Trail in February '23. I mostly cowboy camped or used an UL Tarp to protect me from precipitation. This airpad worked well to insulate me from the snow. I used a -40F sleeping bag and I was tolerably comfortable in temperatures down to -30F and I didn't die when the temps dropped even lower in the final stretches of my 350 mile trek. When I head to the arctic next year, I'll add a foam pad to increase the insulating properties when sleeping on snow. It is important to protect these pads from puncture, particularly when camping in the desert where everything wants to draw blood. The only other drawback I have found, is that the provided bag for inflating the pad, is useless in extreme cold. The plastic becomes extremely rigid and will not attach to the pad's nozzle. I highly recommend these sleeping pads.

I haven't fully tested this pad yet, but so far it has been great. I've just tested it on my hardwood floor. It packs small, easy to inflate, nice and cushy and I can feel the warmth, even in my house. I expect it to be nice, once I get it outdoors in the cold. My only concern is putting a hole in it. I plan to be careful, and always use something under it, never on the bare ground. With the small size, small weight, and crazy-warm R-value of 7, it is just what I was looking for. I can't wait for it to get below zero ;-)

For what it is designed for it's a good mat. I my first trial was on the 18°f concrete sidewalk behind my house and was surprisingly comfy warm for hours. I also slept in a self made snowcave in weather in the teens so the small baffles and mid reflective layer science works. My mat later after a lot of use developed an internal baffle separation and Thermorest acknowledged that and sent me their newer model which was great with much improved inflation check valve and air fill bag design. But the greatness doesn't stop there. I injured my back over a week ago taking a severe blow to all the ribs on my right side of my back falling on the ice after helping an elderly man to his feet. I struggle for days trying to find comfortable sleeping and resting arrangement of the bed and propped pillows and incline for recovery and everything was far to painful until I pulled out the Thermorest Xtherm. It is so comfortable the damage back areas are able have even pressure over all the contours of the body relieving uneven support do to body shape , so the position of the bone connection the cartilage seems to be much happier, I started getting the first real rest without pain using this mat on my bed. Recovery for these is about 4 weeks. Very happy.

Very high quality pad. Very warm and very durable. The new version is a lot more quiet as well. The new valve is great as well. Overall it's the best. Highly recommended. They have the best customer service as well. Happy camping!

I use this pad year around for backpacking hunts August to November. It's nice and compact and reasonably light weight regardless of version. I upgraded from the original to the new wing valve in order to use the neo air pump which I strongly recommend if you are blowing up your mattress daily. After hiking all day with an 80lb backpack just throw the pump on and it's done within a few minutes!

For years I have been using a Ridgerest, and a classic series self-inflatong thermarest from the days of old. I finally bit the bullet and splurged on the XTherm, and wow, game changer. It takes much less space in my pack with very little weight. So far the quality is great, and I have had no issues with it. It keeps me warm and is a big improvement over my old setup for cold weather escapades.

I only gave it a 4 star because of a comfort level. In terms of packability, warmth, and weight it's 5 stars. It just seems like if you're a side sleeper that when you have it inflated you are on some sort of mound is the only way I can describe it. Overall though it's phenomenal quality and packs well

I've been using the non-NXT XTherm for a while now. It's a great pad. 99% of the time, I choose the XTherm over the XLite -- even in the summer. I'm almost always camping in the mountains. With the XTherm, I can sleep just in my boxers into the low 40s. My pack has gotten very light over the years, but I've gotten older. I decided to go with a wide sleeping pad (and a new pillow) to add some extra comfort on the trail. Let me say that I'll never go back to a 20" pad. I'm a side sleeper, so I switch sides many times during the night. I've always used 20" pads, and it's always been a problem. I decided to go with the Regular Wide version of the NXT XTherm. For 1.5 oz of additional weight, I've gained 5" of width and 0.5" of depth. It is significantly easier to roll over and stay well on the pad. So on to the pros & cons. I'll mention the cons first: To start, the NXT pad is louder than the non-NXT. They supposedly improved the XLite's sound, but definitely not the XTherm. Secondly, the fabric on the bottom of the NXT pad seems to be less durable than the bottom fabric of the non-NXT. It is allegedly the same, according to product specs. Sure doesn't seem that way though. It would be dishonest for me not to mention it. This is probably how they brought the weight down. Neither of these cons matter to me, but YMMV. As for the pros: As previously mentioned, the added width and depth of the NXT Regular Wide for only a 1.5 oz penalty over the non-NXT Regular is fantastic. That right there is a major reason to upgrade. The air valve of the NXT is a significant improvement. You can actually fill this thing up to full capacity without racing to shut the valve. It makes the old version look like a cheap cottage company build. Also, the way the inflation bag attaches to the valve is significantly better than the old stretchy plastic. It basically snaps on to the end of the valve cap. The new Neptune color is a lot nicer than the old ugly gray, but that is purely cosmetic. The only other note I'll make is about their baffle redesign with the NXT. Does it do what they claim it does by creating an internal cellular structure that stabilizes the entire pad and maintains full loft throughout the pad? I'm not convinced. When I sit upright on the NXT, my center of gravity is under my butt and it almost touches the ground -- just like the non-NXT (except with an addition 0.5" of buffer). However, it's all marketing gobbledygook to me anyway, as I've never felt like the loft was unevenly distributed laying down on the non-NXT. Laying down on both feels great. My weight is distributed along a larger section of pad, and thus the air is evenly distributed -- even side sleeping. Overall, for me, I consider the NXT a big upgrade. The added width, depth, improved valve and inflation bag are very refreshing. I do wish I had picked up the pad during a sale. These pads are very expensive. I suppose that's another con, but I'm tired of typing. Happy camping.

The warmest lightweight sleeping pad I've found. You can feel your body heat radiate off it. The flat design is terrible though making it hard to stay on the pad. It could be the perfect pad if it had larger air chambers on the sides to keep you centered on the pad, such as the Big Agnes Rapide SL pad.

I love this sleeping pad, very good quality, easy to use, lightweight, and made in the USA. Can't beat it. Definitely won't be changing to any other brand or pad.

Took this unit out recently for the first time and was very pleased with it. Hoping to get it out this winter to really put it through its paces. Its my first air mattress so nothing to compare to. Definitely noted that one side of the mat is noisier than the other so I assume that is the sound dampening they added to this version as I heard it used to be pretty noisy. packs up nice and small. Wide version is a MUST that extra width makes all the difference. Still working on getting efficient at blowing up with the sack but overall happy with my purchase.

The updates to the old design are mostly good. The inflater bag stays attached to the inflator valve, although it's a bit difficult to snap onto it. Less crunchy than the old design - doesn't wake up an entire cabin of people. Only about half now. The only gripe I have is they changed the folding pattern to thirds instead of in half. It's not as easy and for no particular reason. I use my old bag and still just fold mine in half and put the new bag it came with in storage. Some good, some bad. Overall this is my favorite sleeping pad.

Just took my NeoAir XTherm NXT to Mt Shasta on its first ski mountaineering outing. It kept my nice and warm at about 9000 ft, and I was glad that its light weight made it reasonable to carry. I got the size large so I would have some room to move around and not slip off the pad. That worked well but the regular would probably been fine for me (6 ft 160 lbs). My warmest sleeping pad ever (except maybe the old Thermarest camprest which was much heavier and best for car camping). The Xtherm NXT is a great sleeping pad for any cold weather backcountry adventure.

This pad is a great choice for cold weather Backpacking-Mountaineering and possibly the best
By Gregory T.
This pad is a great choice for cold weather Backpacking-Mountaineering and possibly the best, considering that it holds the best weight to insulation ratio and also being very durable due to the 70d fabric at the bottom side. Considering the above, some minor drawbacks (bellow) can be excused. I have had the pad in all its versions, with the Classic valve, the Winglock valve and now the Nxt. Have spent many nights on the mountain on it and has never failed or had a puncture ( I always sleep i...

It far exceeded my expectations in terms of warmth, comfort, small weight, pack size, ans little noise.
With cutting edge Triangular Core Matrix construction and ThermaCapture technology, the XTherm NXT delivers a 7.3 R-value while weighing just 439 g (15.5 oz) in the Regular size. Put another way, the best warmth-to-weight ratio of any sleeping pad ever created. It is warmer, lighter and thicker than the previous model, which is why the XTherm NXT cements the legacy of being the go-to sleeping pad for alpinists, mountaineers and extreme cold expeditions. At 3-inches thick, with horizontal baffles, all-night comfort and support are at hand, while 70D nylon on the bottom ensures the XTherm NXT holds up to extended expedition use. The WingLock Valve allows for rapid inflation and deflation but is also intuitive and easy to use in frigid weather when the gloves are not coming off. If reliable overnight warmth is the demand no matter how far the mercury dips and space in the pack is at a premium, therefs no finer sleeping pad than the XTherm NXT.
