Arrived on time but the compass itself appeared used with a scratch on the bezel and 2 on baseplate..still a good compass no functional issues thus far. I will keep it and learn from this lesson. I believe maybe it was a return and they stuck a piece of plastic on the mirror to make it look brand new. Now i understand why it was as cheap as advertised. Be careful what u buy here.

I purchased a MC2G compass after reading reviews and talking to others. when I received the compass it appeared to be an overall sturdy well built compass. The needle points north, the rulers effectively measure, the mirror reflects, the magnifier, in fact, magnifies, and the declination adjustment seems to work well and is a nice feature. The basics work and I think will serve you well. However, some things I think Suunto missed. The bezel and needle housing has play and can move in the base, from what I can see may cause a 2 degree difference. Definitely not excited about this. The Suunto logo placement. I can honestly say this is a huge miss! The logo was placed right in the middle of the compass field. I know I bought a Suunto, and there is a reason I bought a Suunto. I don't need to be reminded about it every time I do map work. It makes the compass cluttered with non-usable markings. Lastly, the Clinometer. Its a nice feature, and the claim is that it will not interfere with the compass needle. Well I have seen it interfere with the compass needle a few times now while using it. The needle will come around and snag on the clinometer.

I ordered this compass in December and it arrived here in Canada in January from Finland and it's minus 25 Celsius outside and there are no air bubbles in it which is pretty good considering it's been in Cold Storage for almost 2 weeks in the middle of winter. As someone else mentioned it's a little difficult to open and close it but you can just scrape down the little plastic catch thing or you can wait till it wears down a bit. It's only because when it's manufactured it's very sharp. I bought this and the M 3G. Always good to carry two just in case and to always check one against the other. They were both perfect. I have heard so many good reviews on the internet, finally got my own. The little black button thing in the box is a lanyard holder that clips onto the compass, took me awhile to figure it out.

It does exactly what it suppose to do. Really like mine,only thing I cannot see number through mirror as good as I like.
