We purchased this tent for car camping with two people. It's very spacious in all dimensions. It is easy to set up and take down and did well in light rain. There seems to be some off-gassing of the material. Hopefully that is normal and ends soon.

This is the third meteor tent that we have owned. The first one was stolen, bummer, and the second one is about 20 years old and still kickin. Love the new design and the airy feel, especially in the heat of the desert. Packs up nice and small, and light for the overall size of the tent. We slept three in it one night and found it to be a little tight, but with two people it has plenty of extra room. Overall, another great tent from SD.

Light and packable for a roomy 3P tent with a lot of ventilation and setup options. Looking forward to enjoying the Meteor 3 for years to come.

Unpacked the tent. Good quality. No loose threads, seams all sealed well. Is completely waterproof. *Previous tent was Ozark Trail tepee style tent and water poured into it, even with everything zipped shut* Great ventilation creates a good amount of air flow. Unfortunately, my German Sheppard also liked the tent and wanted inside and ripped the No-see-um mesh pretty easily. Going to have to get some mesh patches. However, that's no fault of Sierra Designs. Great product!

Reliable, luxurious for one, okay for two folks young enough to be supple. Even after we ‘graduated’, ultimately to a Eureka Bon Echo 9, (with few exceptions we were car campers) we’d always take along our Meteor. If rain poured at the campsite when we arrived it was great to have the Meteor wIth us because it set up in less than 5 minutes. Over our lives - we are in our 70s now - we have owned and given away several tents. But the Meteor is the one I’ll be keeping for the rest of my life.

The tent is just what I expected, well made, taut, waterproof, easy to set up. What I would expect from Sierra Designs -- quality

This is a wonderful all around tent. Weight is minimal. Height and head room is awesome. Set up is easy. Handles winds with no problem and was able to set it up with just the rain fly with new footprint. Researched 100 tents in this category and couldn’t be happier with this tent.

I searched for months that would meet all requirements for me and this tent came out on top. I even bought 2 other tents and set up all 3 to test in my backyard and again this one had the most features for the best price. Easy set up, light weight, versatile, plenty of room for 2-3 people. Used it twice now and couldn’t be happier.

Weight is middle of the road. It with stood drenching rain with out any water getting into the tent. Convertible fly is really nice when rain may be in the forecast. Tent stakes are not my fav. The actually bag for the tent poles with integrated stake bag is somewhat cumbersome and the only negative part of the tent (because it doesn't pack down easily). The tent has much more room than my big Agnes 3 person tent with only a slight increase in the weight. For a 5 day backpacking trip the extra pound was well worth it for the extra room we had. The extra strength that comes with the weight (higher Denner fabric) is also worth it as it seem this tent will last much longer than my more expensive and lighter Big Agnes tent.

Just completed my first backpacking trip with my new Meteor 3. I am very pleased with it. For this trip, I was sharing the tent with a friend ( I am 5'9", he is 6'2"). I slept with my backpack at my head, and still had plenty of room to stretch out. The floor size felt true to size without having to be staked out. We definitely had room for a third person if needed. The materials felt very durable (my last tent felt too thin). The price is also really good for this size and weight. I feel like other tent brands are cutting too many corners to get as light as possible, and the tents don't lay flat or are too tight. I did decide to cut a little weight and left half the tent stakes at home. You can see in the picture that I ended up using rocks since it was hot and we wanted maximum air flow. I like the burrito bag for storage, but did not use it on the trip since I stuff might tent around other things. Note: originally had the Meteor 3 in mind for car camping with my kids, but I am really happy with it for backpacking. PROS: * Really easy to setup with one person * Zippers worked smoothly with one hand * Very roomy for two, but could fit three grown adults * Packed down smaller than expected in my backpack * Good vestibule space on both sides * Good air flow Cons: * None. I am sure I could nitpick after more trips, but I am really happy at the moment :)

I was not sent enough tent stakes to stake it out properly and in the first windstorm, it blew down....how much could a few extra stakes have cost.... I have owned a Sierra Designs for many years, and just retired the "Base Camp" recently....your latest designs don't follow the rigorous standards of your first products, and I have disposed of this recent purchase.

I just received this tent today so I've yet to spend the night in it. I did, however set it up in the yard to test it out. At first I was a little hesitant about keeping it, but after gettin git set up and messing around with it, I think I'm gonna like it, I'll know more after next weekend when I go camping. I would like to say I am not a huge fan of the tent spikes, I've used them before and the cord on them tends to break when pulling them out, also I've had some cut the tent stake loop when staking the tent, I prefer the candy cane stakes still. I'm also not crazy about the way the rainfly attaches to the underside of the tent pole, kind of a hassle to lift the tent pole to loop it around the bottom, especially when it comes time roll the fly back down from stargazing during rain, but w'll see. Think it would be better with a buckle or clip attachment. Overall, with the exception of the two thing Is mentioned, I think it'll be a fun little tent. I'd also like to add that the burrito bag is the best thing about this tent, I love it, way better that Kelty's new cube bag. . If they could have just used the same clip style straps on the tent rainfly.

I have been growing in my admiration of the products that Sierra Designs puts out. I've perceived that these are high quality goods, but that have noticed that they come at a price-point much more reasonable than many competitors. These days I have a Zissou bag and a new down jacket, but it was this this tent that was my big purchase for a recent trip and I am blown away by it! With 4 friends we spent six days in Lake Powell Recreation Area traveling up Stevens Canyon, down Fold Canyon, and then down 12 river miles of the Escalante River. From night 1 through the end, this tent was a winner. It is a reasonable weight while maintaining a good durable build from legitimate materials. Some friends had some tents that were lighter but the feel of them made them seem almost disposable. This was and is not so with my new Meteor 3. And the room inside this tent is incredible. I'd love to see tents rated as a ratio between interior cubic ft and cost, and also between interior cubic ft and weight. In both of these categories I've got to think that this tent would excel! My critiques are so minimal as to seem petty. In fact, I won't even mention them here. Thank you Sierra Designs for a great tent. For the life of my I can't understand why this design isn't getting more attention!
