Impressed by the quality and amount of down for the cost. I?ve owned a Patagonia Down Sweater, which costs more than twice as much. I would choose the Sierra moving forward, 10/10 times

I initially bought this jacket for its lighter weight and low cost for a 3 day backpacking trip.. This jacket has outlasted my other puffy jackets that were double the cost. Found a puffy with No zipper issues finally. Works year round for me in Alaska, but I certainly layer it in the winter when it?s below freezing, but single digits would be stretching it. I bought another because I like it so much.

So, I understand that sizes vary between manufacture's. But every coat I own is a XL. I've ordered 2XL coats but they are always TOO large. So I purchased the XL. Wow, it fits but its a SLIM fit. I especially notice it under my arm pits. It almost fits like shirt would...but not. I considered sending it back but have already worn it several times so I doubt they would take it back. Other than that the product is of good quality, packs down tight into its pocket, sheds water like a duck and is SUPER warm :) Wish I had ordered the 2xl :/

Seriously, this jacket is as good or better than anything you’re gonna get from Patagonia or North Face. And I got it half price, which made it the steal of the century. Great fit. High quality. I’m very happy with the purchase.

This is a nice jacket with good pockets, including an outside zipped breast pocket and two large pockets inside. I’m very happy with the jacket but I’m a consistent size small and this jacket is snug in size small. Consider going up a size.

Excellent. The jacket is warm to 30 degrees. Plenty of room for sim movement.

Have had this jacket for 2.5 years and it has been perfect companion in Seattle area. I would consider this as my down sweater. At 6-feet 190 pounds the large size was perfect fit for me, with ample room for sweater and down vest if it gets cold. The weight with down vest was also perfect for snow and hale and rain (under a parka) for the Camino de Santiago Frances. By itself, it was great for chilly mornings and windy cold evenings. Even had to share it a few days with a friend who packed light (no jacket) on the Camino. Happy with jacket, now ready to get two more for wife and son.

I'm happy with my purchase. The jacket keeps me warm to about 30f. I like the sleeve cuff design. The zipper pulls are easy to find and use with gloves on. I found the sizing to be right on with what I normally wear with other brands. I've received compliments on the color I chose (Bering blue).

I’m not big on this style of jacket typically but this changes the game. It compresses easily into a hip pack and has incredible heat retention for its weight.

This is my second Sierra Designs light down jacket. I have worn the original, which I have had for several years, virtually every day this past winter, usually as a mid-layer, over a base-layer and under a winter parka, and sometimes as an outer jacket in cool weather. It is snug and cozy, and virtually weightless, a great, dependable comfort for central New York winters. At 5'9" and 165 lbs. this medium size is a nicely tailored, athletic fit. It's 95 degrees here now (5/26/20) but I am looking forward to wearing these jackets when the seasons change again.

I have not put this to use yet since I took advantage of end of season deals and got a great buy on it. I bought it for colder weather backpacking and camping and it looks to be everything I was looking for. Sierra designs products are very well made and this jacket is no exception. Sizing is right on and it looks to be quite packable, light weight and durable!

I love the jacket, I only wish it were warm enough to wear when the temperature is in the mid- to upper- thirties...

I was really excited waiting to receive this jacket, because of the technical specs of it, EVERYTHING was perfect and couldn't be improved. 800 fill hydrophobic treated down with 30 denier shell (previous model had 40), reverse coil YKK zipper. Interior stretch cuffs, MORE 800 filling than ANY other mid weight/light weight down jacket. Tall collar, with bungee drawcord hem. I mean it sounds PERFECT, and really is perfect quality of the materials as well as on paper. What really was the ONLY reason I could not give this jacket a 5 star review is because the fit and tailor of the jacket DO NOT focus AT ALL on the way a climber needs he's/her's jacket to move and fit a particular way for no restrictions while climbing. This jacket is lacking in the under arm gussets that keep your hem down when you reach up above your head. Also, the sleeves are short as well as the hem so you waist will be exposed while stretching up. The only other thing I would change is the boxy fit of the body. I would rather the jacket fit like the slimmer European cut for better layering and reaching above your head with, so it would need to add underarm gussets. Other than that the jacket is great, and I think these things may just effect me because I'm 6'1" 190, so keep that in mind while reviewing my thoughts.

Purchased for my husband who is awed by how warm and cozy the jacket is, even if it is a bit too large for him. No matter… all the more room for feathers to fluff.

I just ordered the XXL for $63.60. I would usually wear an XL but realized I left my down jacket at our hunting cabin and needed one fast for an upcoming hike. I'm 6 foot 220 and this is definitely is a little big for me. The arms are a good length. I have big shoulders and really think the fit is good there too. The high neck is nice. It's almost high enough that it functions like a neck gaiter. I'm sorta obsessed with the neck on this after wearing it for a few hours. Just feels good. The fit around the mid section is a little big. but I'm planning to pull this out to wear on the trail at night and stay comfortable in my quilt if the temps drop in the mountains. If you're my size or bigger and need a trail jacket for the spring, pull the trigger on this and save a hundred bucks.

I really like the jacket but I tore a small hole on some brambles the first time I wore it outside... definitely not as tough as I would have liked and I'll have to be very careful with it going forward

My first "backpacking jacket". After quite a bit of research I settled on the Sierra Designs DriDown and was not disappointed. I haven't had the chance to test it in really cold weather (that's below 40 for me :-), but it did the trick in the 40's. It is super light and packable and the price was right for me. I'm getting some every day wear out of it too. Looks and wears very well.

Very lightweight compact warm dridown jacket. Packs very small and quite warm. Used recently in backcountry and keeps you very warm when weather cools.

Maybe the PERFECT outdoor jacket for men and women. I just got my Sierra Designs prime goose down jacket. It's maybe the finest 3 season jacket I've ever seen, all for $95 bucks on sale with free shipping too. It stuffs into it's own pocket for traveling, the boat bag or backpacking. Take it out, shake it out and your good to go. Finish is flawless, nice high collar, cold flap behind zipper to keep the cold out, interior sleeve in arms to keep heat in and cold out. The fact that is stuffs into it's own pocket is AWESOME! Great for layering on really cold days too. Buy one. You'll be glad you did. How'd you do that? Ordered at 9am on Monday and at my cabin by 10am Tuesday and I'm at the back end of nowhere in Oklahoma. Wow! Lovin Sierra Designs since 68...

Great customer service and an amazing product! I am 73.5" tall and 230lbs, purchased a large and I could not be happier. The jacket is so light, so warm, and slim fitting. I will continue to purchase Sierra Designs!

Great Jacket But Difficulty to Size
By Daniel M.
I originally following the size guide got a XL and really should have only gotten the large which is my regular coat size. However they were great about letting me return the XL and get the Large instead. I loved the customer service I would jut go with your normal coat sizing as opposed to what you might gather from the size chart.
Great jacket

This was the jacket the kept me warm, and did secondary duty as my pillow in my hammock this year while hiking the Appalachian trail. I am still wearing it almost daily here in New Hampshire. I love how this jacket feels and the snug cuffs are a bonus since no wind gets inside the sleeves. You won’t be disappointed with this jacket.
Summer In the Sierra, All Year Round
Sierra Jacket utilizes 800 fill DriDown and a high collar to keep the cold at bay. With elastic cuffs and a cinch cord, it seals up tight!
