Sierra Designs Alpenglow 6 Person Tent

Tent is what I was looking for, I would have liked 100% coverage with the rain fly, but I think the design will work for my needs. One frustrating note though is that the specs on sunnysports.com list this tent as weighing 12 lbs 10oz, which was a major factor for me and why I ultimately selected this tent. However, upon receiving the tent, it very clearly states that it weighs 18 lbs 5 oz. That is a considerable difference since I will be using it while backpacking with my family (wife and 3 children). It is better than paying another $500-$700, but there were options I preferred at around 15lbs. No worries though, it won't be the last time I haul 70lbs on my back. At least it is roomy enough and sets up easily.

Everyone that looked inside was super impressed with the level of darkness. Rainfly fits a little strange but I only put it up once so maybe I can fine tune it next time.

I'm a gear snob and like to have gear that I can count on, so when it came to a family tent I looked at the alpenglow 6. So far I am happy with it. tons of room, looks solid, and has a great vestibule. My only gripe is the fiberglass pole shock string seems loose and sleeves might take some getting use to. (poles keep coming undone while trying to take it apart, I'll have to remember to list push and not pull) anyways great tent looking forward to putting it to the test and getting my kids outside.
