Love the weight and versatility of these bags/bottles. They store compactly when not in use.

I liked it while it lasted, but it didn't last long. Only took it on about 5 hikes before the seam broke. When to get some water and I pulled out an empty bottle and suddenly was 2L short on water. Probably would have been better off spending $3 for a 2L Smart Water bottle, which I've had for years without breaking.

It is nice size and folds up easily. Only issue that it is almost impossible to dry out when not using it.

I feel like I need to leave about this bladder because I hope Platypus will see this and never stop making it. I have had my platypus 2l bladder for close to 10 years now and it is still going strong somehow. I haven't had issues like others have seen where if it is rolled up it will crack although that is a worry I've always had. I must be lucky because that has yet to happen to me, however if it does happen, I will cut it and make a bowl out of it. I find this bladder to be absolutely essential. First off, it can stand on it's own. I use it to filter water from a gravity system when backpacking and I can just leave it on the ground and let it fill up and it won't spill over thank goodness. I have had other bladders that if I tried the same thing, they just flop over spilling my precious water on the ground. Secondly, after its full and during my hike, while standing up I can hold and cradle this platypus 2l bladder in one arm and fill my canteen that I am holding in my other hand. I have tried and failed to do this simple task with other floppy bladders (one bladder from another competitor is so bad at this task that it nearly spills out a 1/2 liter every time I try this because it is so floppy). This 2l platypus bladder is fairly rigid yet still easy enough to roll up and pack away when empty. Third, and almost most importantly in my mind, it has no taste of plastic or rubber that many other competitors bladders have. I often backpack next to pristine mountain streams and I'm so very glad the platypus doesn't impart any off flavors to that tasty water. I've had other bladders that all but ruin the mountain water so much that I don't even want to drink it. My bladder looks kind of dirty from grime over the years, and has a green tinge to it, probably because of all the greenish filtered river water it has carried for me, but it still works as good as the day I bought it. I have tried cleaning the greenish tinge out but it just doesn't want to come out. I've tried bleach, vinegar, nothing works. Here is how I maintain my platypus. After I get home, I wash the lid and the threads, and put a drop of dish soap in there and fill it part ways with water and slosh it all around vigorously. If I have had the green river water, I then will fill it with water with a little bit of bleach or vinegar and let it sit for a few days (because I always hope it'll remove the green tint but it never does). I then rinse it out and air dry it using an aquarium air pump. After it's dry, I cap it and put it away until my next adventure. It may not look the best anymore, but it's the only bladder I trust. This 2l bladder and a 1l water bottle is good for about a half day of hiking for me, so either I need to filter water as I go or fill it up somehow if I'm going longer than a half day. I usually just take a 1 liter canteen filled with water and this 2l bladder completely full on my hikes and I can make it back to the trailhead fairly comfortably on even the hottest of days. If you are looking at this bladder and trying to decide if you need it, don't wait any longer. Just get one. You won't be disappointed.

Great for car camping. Saves trip to the water tap. Only down side is you have to leave them out for a few days to dry out the water drops inside before storage. But that's not really something you can change. Would buy again.

I only use bladders from Platypus for years. They are tasteless, weightless and my old ones are still not leaking. For 10years! That's very impressive and that's the reason I only go with Platypus.

I purchased two of these soft flasks for ski touring, as I like staying hydrated but don't like hard bottles in my ski touring pack (added weight and hard if I fall). Previously, I've used other soft flasks and they've never made it a full winter before cracking around the nozzle. A week before Christmas, a friend Kyle Smaine posted a video to youtube speaking to some last minute presents ideas for loved ones who ski tour. I selfishly was hoping that he mentioned ZipFit, the company I work for. He didn't, that's okay. However, this Platy 2.0 L bottle was one of the gifts. I added one to my cart and then added another to my cart, because I knew I wanted one, but figured my ski touring partner Drew might also want one. I've used it every day since it arrived (just before the holidays). I love it. I am hydrated and I have Kyle to thank and this Platy 2.0 to thank. Just over a week ago, Kyle passed away in an avalanche in Japan. Really heavy to process. This bottle reminds me of his joy, his smile, his love for skiing. I'm happy to have it. For this reason and it's functionality.

The platy 2.0L bottle is great for extra water storage. I always keep one or two in my pack. They weigh almost nothing, they're tough( I fell on mine when it was full and it didn't break) and they take up almost no space. For me it's a no brainer.

Bought these bottles to replace old dirty ones. I had no issues with the older ones. Great to have while at camp or a very dry water section of the trail.

Never expect something that is so light will last as long as a heavier duty collapsible. My experience over 45 years lugging water up and down mountains favors carrying a mix of a couple lw bladders and a sub quart size plastic bottle or two on extended solo trips for low weight, versatility and backup. Having mateable threads between bladders, filters, couplings, and bottle is a good idea. Platypus edges out Sawyer's squeeze bags slightly in durability, and several other companies make more durable, and heavier options. The Hydropak 3 liter is a pretty solid choice for larger capacity storage. I usually gravity filter, and squeeze only if I have to, and have water storage capacity to camp or bivy away from water when required. Avoid creasing plastic bladders near spouts and welded seams... Clean with warm soapy water, rinse, and store completely full to reduce microbe growth. For long term, add a drop or two of good old bleach to the full bag and don't waste time drying!

Ditto what Connor says in his 3/22/22 review. Just had my second 2-liter bottle start leaking after a hole broke through from too much creasing just at the base of the cap. I use mine to filter into from the GravityWorks filter (which is great) and then drink out of as a hydration bladder. I really hate having to keep throwing them out and buying a new one after a season or two. So I'm in the market for something that might last longer.

My family has had about six total 2L and 1L bottles. I am on my second 2L right now and they seem to be more prone to leakage than the 1L's. I think if there were some modifications to the design of the top by the cap, it might be less prone to creasing over time and the leaking which follows. I really wish they were not prone to this issue because they are such a great product.

I lost the clean platy bag from my filtration kit, and this is a good replacement. Unfortunately it doesn?t come with the pop-up lid of the original and doesn?t fit the hose unless I use an adapter. The adapter doesn?t have a cover to keep out the dirt the way the original connector does. Grrr. But at least it works and I can still filter water. This bag (and the adapter) fits in the filtration kit case, so it?s all good. Just wish I had known to buy the pop-up lid as well. PS I love the filtration kit!

I enjoyed this bladder for about 50 days of backpacking trips using it to only store water. When I tried to use it as a filtering bladder, I.e. force water through a in-line filter using it, it lasted only a couple filtering sessions before the edge became delaminated and the bottle sprung a huge leak. I assume this wouldn?t be a problem with gravity filtering.

I love this thing. A lot of people seem concerned about how to dry it completely. Place the emptied platypus next to a dehumidifier and run it on full blast. It will be dry within 30 minutes!

Ultralight Backpacker's Friend
By minkeyman
I have had this bottle for many years and use it when I am packing lighter than usual. I use this with their hose kit to make an ultralight bladder that I then use as a camp reservoir by hanging from a tree when I get set up. It is a very versatile setup and can be modified to do anything needed. For better all around versatility, use a hole punch on the non-welded sections at the very bottom of the reservoir (they look like they were made for this purpose) and run some paracord through it an...

Over 20 years and still going strong!
By Weekend W.
I created an account just to post this review of one of my favorite pieces of kit. After 20+ years, my 2L platypus has never let me down. Never leaked, never failed, and is still my "go to" main water bottle for backpacking/alpine climbing, and casual day hikes. I've used reasonable care (crampons on the OUTSIDE of the pack, platypus on the INSIDE) but I've definitely not babied it. You can't beat the light weight and flexibility for filling every square inch of your pack. I've poured boil...
