Works great as a midlayer under a shell, but can also be worn on its own. Warm in -10 C.

Love my jacket. I'm 5'9 160 and got a medium. Fits perfect for me.

This is my first puffy coat. It's super comfortable and holds me like a blanket. Perfect for moderate to below freezing.

5'10" usually wear a medium but went with a small which fits much better on its own and underneath a shell jacket.

I bought this for my husband to replace several worn out mid layer jackets. He is very pleased with the fit (he chose a small based on the reviews), the attractive shade of blue, and the luxurious warmth provided by the 700 down fill. And, the fabric seems durable. A very good buy!

I recently purchased and received this jacket. So far, I am very happy with it. I am 6'1", 220lbs with a fairly athletic frame and this jacket fits me perfectly. It is also very light and packable, while also very warm. It does a better job than I expected at dealing with wind as well. I have worn this in minus -5C with just a t-shirt underneath and was perfectly comfortable. I would recommend this jacket.

Got a medium because the reviews all said it would fit large (I usually wear large). The sleeves were long enough and there was room around the waist but I couldn't lift my arms well.

Love this jacket. It is a perfect weight for casual wear when several degrees below freezing. Very suitable in colder weather with a little bit higher level of activity. It is also nice and breathable at moderate activity levels. Nice construction and quality. Definitely recommend.

The insulation is effective for me up to 14 F (-10 deg C). Very light and versatile for winter sports. Inside large pocket is a good surprise.

Sizing is as unpredictable as other reviews have said, you only know if it fits when you put it on, the sizing chart is useless. There were a lot of threads when received. Without these issues, this could be a great jacket.

Good value for hunting wear. I've read a number of reviews and people don't seem to realize that a little loose is a good thing for warmth. Air pockets = warm air trapped. 5'9", 195 pounds. XL is perfect to keep in the pack and pull out to throw over all layers. I see reviews where good size men are saying size medium or large are too small? Makes no sense in the real world. Order your normal size and if you want to throw over a bino harness order one size up.

Very happy with this jacket. I?m 6?, 180lbs and the Medium fits nicely (definitely bigger than your typical Medium). It has a slightly boxier cut which makes it comfortable to move around in and layer under.

Fits kinda funny for sure. Tight in the hips and loose in the chest and I'm not a small person( 6 foot 210 lbs). Seems warm enough though. I'm gonna keep it but it's not a slam dunk. 3/5

I purchased this to replace a 10+ year old down jacket from back in the day when puffy jackets were actually puffy and very, very warm. Based on photos, this jacket looked like it would do the trick but unfortunately it has about the same amount of down as typical down "sweater" type garments. A little more for sure, but definitely not a ton more. Size was also strange; I consistently fit very well in small OR shirts and shells, but this thing was huge; felt like a medium at least. Length was long, arms were long, and overall cut was just too loose. I'm sure the quality and everything else is great hence the good rating. But for me the deal was broken as soon as I experienced the small amount of down and the odd sizing.

I liked the material and the vintage look of the jacket a lot. I'm a big guy and the body was generously cut, but the arm holes were extremely tight for a 2xl jacket, the seam would have rubbed my arm pit raw. If your a heavy person with relatively small arms or narrow shoulders, its a nice jacket

Size down if you want a tight fit. If you will be layering stay true to size

This is a great warm jacket. I use it as a mid layer in winter and if anything i've found that its too warm when the temperature gets closer to freezing. no cons

I really like the Coldfront Down Jacket because I'm a Senior Citizen who has put on a few pounds over my years of injuries, long commutes, and too much time working in front of a computer. The Coldfront is cut roomy so that I can still layer underneath, unlike packable "down sweaters" that tend to feel like I'm wearing a finger-trap. Thanks for taking into account "real" physiques!

This coat has become my favorite. It is so comfortable! I bought a man's and like the fit better. The level of warmth is perfect for our dramatically changing PNW temps. The texture is soft and it doesn't retain BO which is a problem for me with the Patagonia puffers

I love it and its everything I needed for east coast winterrs. Be aware that it runs a little big. I'm 5' 9" with a weight lifter build and even the small is a little big on me. Only complaint is the collar doesn't stay flat.

Used it for extreme cold weather employment in mountainous terrain. I'd do my movements with a light shell and a HEAVY pack. As soon as I'd go static, this little "pack down" came out and base layered under the same shell. I actually caught some shut eye wearing only a cotton t-shirt, this down jacket, and a wind/rain shell!

I liked this jacket a lot. Nice materials, and for once an OR jacket that runs somewhat large and fit my normally XL frame (usually wear 2x in OR sizing). This fit well for the most part but was simply too tight in the shoulders for my frame, felt like it would rip out shoulder seams at some point. So had to return.

So far so good! Great product so far living in the heart of the Rockies. -30 days with another light insulated hoodie did the trick even for low intensity activities. Medium size men's fits perfectly and I am 5'10" 170lbs.

Warm and Comfy!
By Chris
This jacket is like wearing an ultralight down comforter. I was a little skeptical when I first held it because of how lightweight it is, but the second you put it on you are warm, and you stay warm. I'm 5'8, 190lbs and a large is the perfect size for me.
