All other base layers beware!

Specifically for backpacking with two purposes. Primary sleepwear and emergency thermals. I've never been warmer in my down 30F bag below 40F. It was a night and day difference having previously techwick 100 which being lighter and warm were uncomfortable. I also had a synthetic blend with cotton 100 base which being extraordinarily super comfy but not thermal enough on 40F threshold. These OR Merino 150's fill the gap and quality are superior. They check both boxes for me and earn a 5 star review. Hands down THE best base layer I've ever purchased.

Excellent

Excellent comfort and performance. I deliberately wore the whole set in warmer and colder environments than it's made for, no issues. Be mindful when it's new the Red color way puts off a lot of red fuzz.

Comfortable and Warm

This was comfortable and warm under a wind protected covering at -10 for snowboarding. Was able to use for multiple times on same trip with no issues.

Warm, comfortable, and well made!

I am a blind individual, and it is therefore always difficult to purchase the correct items online without getting to physically handle them first. However, Outdoor Research gear has always been reliable and trusted by me. The description of the alpine merino liners on the wetsite was great, and the measuring chart also was exact. Therefore I could purchase the correct size, and had a good idea of the product I was purchasing. I live in the Boston area and have used my liner to go hiking during very windy and cold days. In particular, I was blown away with how the liners performed during a wet and windy hike. I wore my liner and rain pants, and even though the wind made it feel like temperature was in the single digits during my hike my legs were perfectly warm. The liner has also served me well during more practical day-to-day situations like waiting for an Uber in downtown Boston during a windy day at rush hour. Also, the liner is extremely comfortable and I have found that it feels good whether I am wearing it under my jeans or at home by itself. Construction is durable and seems like it will last for a long time; many years of hiking and day-to-day use. Definitely a recommended item from a brand that never disappoints!

Skin fit but no waste pressure.

Fantastic thermals. Feels like a second skin but they don't create any pressure on the waste. Absolutely love them

Highly Reccomend

It is a great lightweight piece for high-exertion activities where you may need an extra layer for warmth. I wore these for a few days in a row, and they held their shape and didn't stretch out as some wool pieces will over time. I am 5'6 and 150lbs, and the small is a perfect fit.

Perfect all around base layer

Excellent all-round base layer that wicks moisture, adds warming, but doesn't allow me to overheat. Perfect for winter rucking, snowshoeing, and cross country skiing.

I will be buying more!

These are definitely worth the price tag. I wore them for the first time in mild Sask temperature (-12 C) and I was very comfortable-actually a bit too warm. I wore them underneath lined snow pants and they fit very well, not at all bulky. The merino is very soft and feels great against the skin. I am 6'3 215 lbs and Large fits perfect.

Great light baselayer that keeps you warm!

Great light baselayer that would have gotten 5 stars if it was more comfortable. Seemed a little stiff and didn't have that super soft feeling similar products I have purchased in the past. It does keep you warm as I was sweating in these after a while.

Good quality base layer with Merino

I purchased both top and bottom of it. Nice quality with merino wool. I'm 6'11" ,164lbs and fits medium well. The length is a little longer but no problem with it. It dry out fast and feels fresh in 5 min rest after 2 hour skiing. I expected thicker fabric for low temperature such as under -10 C, but it is not. This is good base layer for the weather above -10 C I think.

Good baselayer

I bought the medium one. I like the stretch and the warmness, but I'm 6 feet tall and it is a little bit short. It would be awesome if OR offered the option to pick medium LONG for all there bottoms.

Very Nice Addition for Any Adventure

As expected, the weight and comfort of these are great. I've worn them under ski gear and as an extra layer for a bike packing trip. I haven't really tested durability yet as they are pretty new, but the quality seems very good.

Essential lighter weight base layer. I wear the onset bottoms whenever I need a little extra warmth during river wading, hiking, disc golf, or snowboarding.
