Toasty warm

I used the -20F Sonic for the first time camping at the trailhead of the Four Pass Loop in Crested Butte CO. It kept me toasty warm and comfortable in the low 30s with both gills open, and I loved that the hood design stayed on my head all night. This bag was so much better than my 15F Riff (which I froze in if the temperature dropped below 45F). I maintain the Nemo sleeping bag warmth ratings are misleading for their Men's bags.

First Impressions

This is a first impression as I have not had an opportunity to sleep outside with it yet. Using synthetic fill for the footbox area is a nice detail. The zippers on the venting "gills" are VERY small and even in brief testing, they sometimes catch on the fabric.

With this bag, They are launching their next generation Thermo-Gills with a new multi-stage zipper system that dramatically increases the usable temperature range of the bag and allows fine-tuning of comfort from within the bag. Sonic's new chevron baffle construction better compartmentalizes down, eliminating migration and keeping the down evenly lofted. Not to mention, it looks awesome.
