Not what I expected from North Face. The material is thin. There's a laptop sleeve that will hold a 14" laptop, but it doesn't go to the bottom of the backtop, so there's a space under the laptop where smaller loose things, like a spiral notebook, can slip and bend. The second large pocket looks big in the pictures, but it is verys small in real life. Asked about returning, but was told I'd have a pay return shipping at a fixed rate that was 1/3 the price of the backpack. This is designed to discourage returns, even though Sunny claims to have a generous return policy.

I went on TNF website to see what I would like and chose this bag for the reviews it had when it was brand new off the line and up to now. I'll be using this backpack for school but I did some hiking and found it was great for a last minute bag to use. My back wasn't all sweaty and after adjusting the bag to my height/proportions, I had no back aches during the walk - I have scoliosis and long walks typically make my back hurt. The bag is approved by the ACA which to me, is another reason I bought it. Very happy with so far. Not sure about the flexvent being stiff or like cardboard - it's not supposed to be flexible like a noodle so I find it sturdy. It is a different feel from bags you'd get at walmart or target that do not have any real back support. I personally love this bag so far!

I bought this bag to replace my North Face "Hot Shot." The "Vault" isn't nearly as rugged or sturdy feeling as my older bag. Yet, with that trade off (this being more of a daypack for cruising around the city) comes insane value. This bag is much larger than it appears. The front pouch is adequate and has plenty of pockets for storage. There is no waist strap but there's a chest strap. For the price I don't think you can beat this bag. Also, the shipping was super fast and accurate.

This backpack arrived almost exactly as expected. The backpack isn't large, so it's not ideal for travel if you tend to overpack. We are using it as a diaper bag for our one-year-old for our upcoming summer vacation. My husband wanted a neutral pack (I.e. Not pink) and this one is a cool grey and black. It fits all of her stuff and the side mesh is great for sippy cups. The straps are padded and comfortable to wear. We love the backpack and are glad we purchased.

I use it for traveling and carrying around my netbook. It's simple, practical, and at a good price. It doesn't have all the annoying straps hanging from it. However, it would be nice if it had a water bottle side pocket but it's not really a big deal.

Overall, I can't give a personal review of the backpack. And I just gave it to someone for Christmas I can't say it's "durable" and it'll "last forever", etc. However, so far he's loved his backpack. I gave it to a guy friend of mine (18 years old) and he used it immediately on his trip to Arizona for Christmas break. He said it worked great to carry his laptop and x-box. When I had received it, for the most part I was happy; The padding on the back was a little too stiff for my liking though. It did hold the shape of the bag, but I wonder if it would get annoying after a while?

Purchased this backpack for my daughter to use for school and the back piece that normally is padded and rests against your back is thin, stiff (resembles cardboard) and unflexible. The fabric which zips closed is paper thin. I would not recommend this product and now am a firm believer that companies make different levels of quality, some not standing up to the quality in which the name implies. Bought my other daughter a High Sierra backpack for less money and it is much better quality.
