This is a great backpacking pack - I get a lot of attention out in the field asking what brand I carry. I could put all my bear canisters in the load-up portion and have all the room for my important stuff. This thing is sturdy. It is on the heavier side of a backpack, but if you're planning to carry more stuff for your family, this is the pack you want.

I got this pack the week before a multi-day hike, camp, summit trip. Out of the box it was a simple fit. I debated on the Bridger but the OverLoad function is a feature I feel opens this pack to so much more. I was not packing in the world but I had room for it. I liked the main compartment was just that - a large space for my stuff. No little zipper compartments that are impossible to use when full. The outside cylinder pockets are great for pot/stove/fuel, first aid and TP (those things you want easy access too). The elastic side pockets broke in quickly for my water bottles. This pack rode fantastic. On summit day, I pulled the straps as tight as I could making it a large day pack but with the frame it felt great. I did try the head as a day pack for a quick side hike from base camp. Personally it was not what I was looking for in a day pack BUT it did work. It fit 2 water bottles and some odds and ends. Using the yoke off the pack did work. There is no toggle to hang a hydration bladder inside but due to size it may sit just fine (did not try it so will not judge). I feel the straps were a tad short when you loosened it because they pulled through the loop on the hill. I needed more water and food for the summit so I did not choose this as my day pack but it would work for some activities. I still give this 5 stars even with the day pack head things because it would still work. Buying the TerraFrame65 was for the frame and pack not the head/day pack. I am beyond happy with this pack. I am not a professional hiker or have put 19374 miles on this pack but with this pack it made me feel like I could.

The terraframe 65 performed very well during this 4 day 30 mile adventure with 4,000 feet in elevation gain. Constantly picked up and toss on the ground and slid across the ground. hiking through thick overgrowth with sharp branches and briars, this backpack did not fray or damage at all with regard to the denier material. --I discovered the Huge upside to this bag by using the Overload compartment as a storage area for my Bedroll (bivy, sleeping bag, inflatable pad) rolled up and secured into the overload compartment, making deployment of my sleep system nearly instant. No more compression sacks and individual bags per sleeping item. Just have it all put together and rolled up in the Overload. Doing this increases your bag storage since you are no longer placing your sleeping bag, inflatable pad, and bivy into separate bags. All that matters using the overload like this is that you ensure all the external compression straps are snug, to hold the overload compartment very well. I also learned you can place your water bladder into the overload compartment as well, I like this because I have had Camelbak bladders FAIL on me in the back country and it super sucks. especially if using a down sleeping bag. Doing this again, increases space in your primary bag.

I?ve been really pleased with this backpack (for use as a bugout pack. However, today I spent more than 30 mins trying to figure out how to set up the extension frame (to carry my tent). Even watching the YouTube videos from Mystery Ranch didn?t help much (they don?t include close-ups of the places to connect and disconnect the frame from the pack). Worst of all, though, despite the multiple connections and straps, MR don?t include a step-by-step instruction manual. They leave it to customers to figure out for themselves. I checked their website to look for a manual, but no . . . Nothing there, either. If MR gets back to me with detailed instructions that work, I?ll upgrade the review. Until then . . . Buyer beware!

Everything... Quality, Materials, Hardware, Fit, Finish, Comfort under load (50#s) all exceeded high expectations. 3 day resort run or 30 off grid this pack does it effortlessly and looks and feel good doing it. Gear carry options are pretty much only restricted by practical dimensions and ones ingenuity. Well done MR... WELL DONE. Pic of MR "Bop"and "Big Bop" on waistbelt MOLLE... Did I mention versatile... More 2 come.

Literally the Dopest dope! This bag is more than I expected. I?ve been rocking 40L AG osprey bag which has treated me extremely well, made weight weightless, so to be honest nothing against the brand just the gear I need to carry grew and you can really over load the bag much then what it?s meant to do. So Been kind of putting off writing a review for a minute because yeah I don?t. Lol but in my heart it wouldn?t be right not to on this bag. I really didn?t have an expectations going in, I just new I needed something multifunctional and can carry what I needed with ruining the integrity of the bag. So the bag search began I looked on the civilian side first of course(more Osprey, Gregory) no shoe really fit, so wondered if there is a company that makes bag with the same concept of functionality and durability as military rucks/packs but better? Then bam I?m he internet is like ?Hey you ever heard of ?Mystery Ranch?? And ever since my life has been changed, immediately took the bag out the the Gila wilderness. So first off let?s talk about things on this bag: - I read a comment negative comment about the tube pockets because they try to put shoes in them. SoJust like don?t put shoes in them? Like this bag has plenty of external straps literally that can accommodate this. I strapped extra shoes to the bottom of the bag with my sleeping pad. -detachable day pack, to be honest I laughed at this completely hating on it. So was way wrong DAYPACK is so legit, so legit. No organization inside the pocket but like who cares daypack portion will fit everything you need. Just in case that wasn?t read correctly EVERYTHING YOU NEED it?s an abyss of a pocket. I will use it on day hikes, correction I have used it on all and any hiking/outdoor activity I even attach a camelback to the outside of it with a full daypack. So yeah super surprised about that feature. -super adjustable, though I haven?t figured out if the waist is adjustable maybe it?s not, but not a huge deal because everything fit perfectly which leads into pack as a whole.. - Bag distribution was flawless, frame is what they say, it?s magical(pretty sure I may have been the only one that used the word ?magical?) but my old Osprey AG was put to shame. I could do anything with the bag fully loaded. -the detachable and adjustable shoulder straps so cool, super useful it is perfection -overload feature works too, that?s really all I need to say to that this reviews wicked long. But Yeah to sum things up, you should get the bag.

I completed an AT thru-hike this year (2021), and once off-trail have just taken a Wilderness Field Instructor position with an outdoor education and treatment company. As a Field Instructor I am expected to carry a lot of safety and crew gear, which is way more weight than I am used to and much more than my thru-hiker ultralight rig could easily handle. Always wanted a MR pack, due to their reputation for quality and durability, but never until now could justify the weight. But due to the new position needed a real workhorse. This pack has so far met my need in spades. I am very comfortable carrying loads up to 150 with it, but it also will cinch down and compress well in situations where I am only carrying my personal gear. Versatility is awesome. The overload feature is a game changer, and MUCH more useful than I dreamed it would be. I often have to carry bulky or odd sized gear like dun-buckets, crew tarps, rope bags, and bags of tree-pads. With the overload these can be easily secured between the pack and the frame, instead of lashed to the outside of the pack or crammed into the interior taking up room. This is really awesome, and makes these odd and bulky gear pieces easy to carry comfortably and securely, particularly in rough terrain and brush. I also am very satisfied with the build and durability of the pack. Everything is bombproof, and built for extended use in the field. I have a lot of confidence in all the fittings on the pack to handle even the largest loads for extended time, and really feel like I can crank the compression and lifter straps without fear they will rip. Zippers are all very robust and solid. The weight is more than I have carried in a pack for a while, but given the suspension system it still carries like a dream. Given the versatility the overload gives me, and the durability the weight is an acceptable trade off. Realistically 50 pound loads in this pack carry almost like a 30 pound load in a pack with a lighter suspension. This pack lives up to its reputation for its purpose, handling large loads well in the field. Well worth the premium price
