I row through the winter in the northeast US. If rowers use pfds, they are typically small self inflating options (eg. belts) that won't interfere with the rowing motion. I hoped to try something more substantial and thought this might be a good option. It sits higher in the front, has adjustable shoulder straps, and the foam is not too thick, which are important features. I was so pleasantly surprise with how this performed on the water! It didn't interfere with my stroke, fit readily under my jacket, and as a big bonus in 28F weather, it made my core very warm. Initially tried on the erg to test, but actually worked/fit even better on the water. Individuals will have to try it with their body type, but for me, this is great!

Excellent. Comfortable and allows for more freedom of movement than is typically the case with an inflatable, as it doesn't seem to catch as much when maneuvering about the cockpit of a sailboat. Really like the attachment points on the shoulder straps.

Full disclaimer, I did not pay the $200 Mustang is asking for one of these.. I paid well below MSRP from a local kayaker so I may be a little biased. That being said, I bought mine and hit the river that same afternoon and really liked the vest after having worn it for about five hours straight. Materials are nice, the way the straps are set up so you can't get them crossed up is smart. It doesn't feel like you're wearing the typical foam lifejacket so many people buy just to have on the boat to satisfy the law, it feels like an actual nice piece of kit that you'll WANT to wear. And for a PFD that's about the highest praise you can give. Haven't tested in water yet, but Mustang makes a great product so I'm sure it's more than adequate. Only real con in my experience thus far is the inflator tube placement. Sure being on the inside keeps the thing looking sleek and cool, but it does get a little annoying against the body.

With a re-arming kit costing 20$ just for a CO2 cartridge (1$) and a sacrificial piece of plastic. I think this is not correct. The kit has a value of less than 1$ and is sold with a factor 200 benefit. Re-arming should ben super cheap so People would bot think twice before pulling their vest. The concept of the vest is super on the other hand. Maybe some 3D printing van resolve the issue

I was paddleboarding with some family and we had a floating duck. I was on the duck and I fell into the lake. I could'nt figure out where I was so I inflated the Khimera vest. The vest fully inflated within 2-3 seconds, and I can not imagine what would have happened if I was wearing a traditional foam vest. (And, you get the bonus of looking like Baymax when you inflate the Khimara vest) If you are looking for a reliable PFD, I highly recommend this!

Tried the new Khimera on my SUP, much better freedom of movement than my current NRS Ninja. I have been wearing it over my drysuit as the water is still too cold. Pros: Fit is good on my 5'7" frame, even with a drysuit Feel light, nearly forget that it is there Putting on over the head is easy Seems well made, quality materials Cons: Is it already armed? The CO2 was already installed, I assume that must mean its armed but how long has the CO2 been there? I want to arm it myself. Side straps have same size buckles so you can't tell by feel if you have the right strap to the right buckle. Attachment point for my river knife is at the shoulder, I do not want my knife near my neck, put an attachment point where I can see it.

I've enjoyed using the Khimera pfd while fishing on a boat and paddlin a kayak. It's extremely comfortable. I'm very happy and would buy the pfd again.

I love the fit of this PFD and found it to be one I would actually wear while on my SUP. I can still paddle with no restrictions from this PFD. However the manual inflation valve pokes me in the chest and is terribly uncomfortable. You can sort of flip it over the front of the right shoulder strap to keep it from poking you but it eventually gets knocked back to the original position. I ended up returning for another PFD. They need to relocate this valve. Other than that I would give it 5 stars.

Easy to put on and extra strap length has an awesome stowing system that keeps the vest streamline. Really comfortable with great range of motion for paddling. Great for women with larger chest size, doesn't crush you and not bulky at all on top of your chest. So versatile in terms of a buoyancy aid where you can pick your level of inflation support when in the water and don't need to repack at all when adjusting. In my option the perfect PFD, love it!

I have a one-person Adirondack guideboat (like a canoe, but you row it) and I never wore a life jacket because they get in the way of rowing. All that changed this spring when I capsized a week after the ice was off the lake and I had to swim the boat to shore without a life jacket. The first thing I did was buy a Khimera dual floatation PFD and I always wear it. The size and fit make it perfect for rowing-it's never in the way of the oars. I could have easily drowned in the icy water this spring. I think the Khimera vest will save my life some day.

Fits the bill perfectly for multi sport use. We enjoy boating, fishing, and kayaking. Easy on and off, comfortable, not bulky. These replace our auto-inflators because too many times we run into weather which has set them off. Now, no more worries.

Been using the Khimera for some downwind runs on my Surfski and loving it. Super comfy and allows good freedom of movement. It would be great to get a high visibility version for easy identification on the water ????

On first day of using the vest sailing on moderate wind day, I noticed the activation lever had come loose from its neoprene retainers. This will undoubtedly happen again. We suggest a Velcro band to better secure the handle. We are going to try and fashion something to do just that.

As an active standup paddle board enthusiast I was immediately drawn to the innovative concept and design of the Khimera Dual Flotation PFD as I had been in the market to replace my older bulky PFD. I was impressed with the Mustang Survival website product presentation with the added videos and I found myself having to look no further and ordered the Khimera PFD and I'm glad I did and find it to be the best most comfortable PFD with excellent quality, craftsmanship and functionality I have ever owned and I have shown and recommended it to my SUP friends whenever I see them!

This was not as bulky as it initially seemed. Constant work on the boat and it didn't get in my way. I even wore this with a shirt underneath and also a jacket underneath. I have to pull it down once in a while, and am adjusting the straps accordingly. Gives me the peace of mind if an accident happens, I'm already floating.

Great Vest. Low profile. Comfortable. Warm enough but not too warm. Front pocket has enough storage for a phone in a case and spare line, Velcro on the pocket is very secure. I've tried Spinloc, Gil and others, this is the best in the class, especially with Dual Floatation feature. Float on...

This is a very nice slim lightweight high quality pfd! Easy to put on or remove. I wear it for boating and fishing and it never bothers me or gets in the way. Sometimes I am half way home before I realize I still have it on. Worth the price, very easy to find replacement co2 tanks as well for the expansion of the pfd.

I kayak fish and feel super comfortable in this ingenious PFD! It's not only the comfort physically, but that peace of mind knowing I have some floatation before it's even inflated to at least keep me close to the surface if something were to happen.
