Review Summary

This is the first and only stove I've ever owned. It boils water lightning fast and is very stable on the ground. Many people complain about the amount of space it takes up in their pack, or the weight. I don't care about those things in this case. This stove is thoughtfully designed and works wonderfully.

Used on Aconcagua with 3 nights at 20k for a great Summit. Efficient and effective for boiling water from glacial run off. With only snow available above 20k, would have preferred an XGK. Went through gas very quickly at those temps and at altitude. Preformed very well for 3 overall. Would take again. Packs up great, but ensure you pad stove and canister tightly in pot before transport on mules or airplane, titanium pot is naturally soft and will bend and scratch easily. Low profile was great in the winds with confined space use.

This stove system does a terrific job. It's very well made boils super fast in all conditions and doesn't use much fuel in the process. Ya it's a little on the heavy side so if you're wanting to go ultra light you'll probably consider something else.

I really like the size and compact design. Great for camping, hiking, fishing, or hunting. Boils water fast to enjoy morning coffee.

It's a great product. Quality construction and ease of use. I feel like its to big for just a one person hunting trip. But it did the job it was intended to do. I would recommend this to anyone that needs a portable stove.

Base was very sturdy and folded up very compact. Boils water very fast compared to my 30 yo whisperlite.

Perfect size for 2 person climbing system or a luxurious sea kayaking setup for 1-2 people. Much more stable for bigger pots and use of the frying pan. Also nice to accommodate a larger fuel canister in the pot. I regularly make Quesadillas and sautay veggies and sausage with this system or fit a few boil in the bags in the pot.

There's a lot to love about my Windburner Duo. It's incredibly fast and efficient, especially in the wind and it's a perfect size for two people. And unlike the personal, the stove sits on the ground so the pot doesn't sit nearly as tall. As a bonus, the stove fits perfectly inside the personal pot so you can buy that separately if you want a system which will cater to both the solo and group user. My main gripe has to do with the bowl. The bowl is useful but from time to time, it seems to get stuck on the bottom of the pot. When this happens, I'm forced to spend a few minutes fiddling around before it comes off. My other complaint is with the plastic lid in that its never able to pour water without dribbling down the side. I make sure to always seal the lid but I always lose around 1/10th of my water as it gets diverted to the ground.

Took this camping with a group. Water was boiled before other stoves were even done setting up. Impressive!

We have purchased several Windburner Group Cooking Systems for use on Sierra Club National Outings backpack trips in the Rocky Mountain Region. The performance, efficiency, reliability, and ease of use is a whole new level for group cooking. The one issue we have is that the 4.5 L pot isn't quite big enough for group size greater than 8-10 or so, and we often run trips with 12 to 15 total people including leaders. Having a 6.5 L pot would make this truly a group cooking system. Just make a taller version of the 4.5L pot. - chair, Rocky Mountain Subcommittee, Sierra Club National Outings

Got this to take when with groups up to 4 and it's been great in every way so far. Fast boiling as expected, large enough to quickly feed 4 and it's still very packable. It and the seperate trail lite duo set all fit in one small compression sack. Main uses are kayak camping or mild backpacking. For more intense endeavors I stick with my single.

Works well and is efficient even at high altitudes (9000 ft+). My only note to self is to bring a sponge or larger microfiber cloth to wipe it clean after coffee next time.

It was everything I needed on our 5 day trip in MT. Takes up some precious space in the pack, but the way everything stows together makes it easy to work around. This thing boils water FAST and held its flame without a problem in some sustained 30 mph winds. Fuel consumption was a lot less compared to my other butane burners since it burns so efficiently.

This system is amazing

This stove truly lives up to its name. I recently took it along with me on a 3,000 mile road trip through Utah and Arizona where it performed beautifully day in and day out. Whether it was a quick boil of some water (and it really was quick, the heat dispersement system on the bottom of the 1.8L accessory pot usefully spreads the heat around the full base, and not just the bottom) for morning coffee or getting scrambled eggs to their desired consistency with the easily adjustable burner. Love the modular design and nesting capability. I took a trip recently and had no issues in the wind at about 35 degrees out. I plan on using the 1.0 pot for MTB trips.
