It worked fine. I went with something with a little more insulation and a different profile. Works great for freezer dried meals. Perfect size.

I purchased an original 0.85 L Titan kettle when it was first introduced decades ago. MSR eventually changed its dimensions for some unknown reason and later added even more minor changes bringing us to this model. For the lone lightweight adventurer this is still the best cookware choice. Its dimensions allow it to function well with any model backpacking stove and the capacity is large enough to rehydrate any FD food pouch I might carry.

Just what I was looking for at a fair price for an older model. The lid stays on tight with a small gas canister, lighter, and pocket rocket 2 inside giving a lot of functionality in a small package.

I have wanted a Titan Kettle for years and finally bought one! It is a wonderful pot/kettle for solo and 2-person trips. It is used for hot beverages, freeze dried meals and treating water. It replaces a very well used Open Country 5-cup Percolator (used without the insert). I greatly appreciate the decrease in weight and bulk of the Titan while being able to fit a Kovea Spider, 100 g canister and Ocelot wind screen inside.

The Titan Kettle is a long standing icon. Just one little suggestion to make it perfect... add liquid measure marks for convenience. Thanks Tim Wrigley

What's not to like. Light, holds water. Has handles

This is a great basic pot, with no frills that make it light and still functional. The handles get hot when cooking, so you either need to use a makeshift hot pad, or else shut off the stove if, for example, you finished boiling water and then simply wait 10 seconds for the handles to cool, and the handles will be cool enough to grasp. I only need to cook for myself, so I wish MSR made a smaller pot. I only need no more than 1.5 cups at a time, so this pot is a little bigger and bulkier than I like. It's perfect for two people!

I was tired of carrying the windburner stove on long hunting and hiking trips in the mountains, so I was looking to put together a good pack stove system. I bought the Titan Kettle because it was the right size to fit a fuel canister, igniter (or small Bic lighter), cleaning cloth, fuel canister base, and the Pocket Rocket stove. Everything fit and I dumped the cleaning cloth and bought the Toaks cover for their pot. It gave me an excellent cleaning cloth and also acted as a pot holder. It made the perfect backpack stove system. But I immediately noticed some deficiencies in the design of the kettle. First is there are no graduations on the side of the pot to tell you how much water there is in the pot. Most of time, I use freeze dried foods, such as Mountain House, so I boil up some water and add it to the food, only to find I boiled to little or too much. Not an issue in a lot of places where water is abundant, but I live in the high desert, with limited water. I taped hash marks in the side to add measurements to the kettle. The only other issue I've found is no one thought to put strainer holes in the lid. Sometimes I cook using the pot. If I want to drain the pot, I run the risk of dumping food on the ground. Since I have what I carry on my back, not good. So I drilled holes in the rim of the lid and solved the problem. The only other accessory I bought for the stove system is the Snow Peak HotLips silicone edge protectors so I don't burn my lips to too hot a coffee in the field. This is a great container, but the two issues I described are almost standard on everybody else's pots of the same size.

Regarding the titan kettle, I was putting the cup in the wrong way round. It is supposed to go in upright. I was forcing it in sideways.

Without forcing it in, I mean they are both great an all, but seriously why so tight? Had both for a lot of year's and both still functional and the lightweight is a boon.

Love it! The only thing I found myself wishing for after a use or two is for the handles to be a little more stable. When the pot is full (probably too full) pinching the handles feels insecure as you're trying to control a pound of water by basically holding a coat hanger. Spreading the two handles further apart so that they don't write meet or have more of a curve so that your holding surface is wider would fix the issue. For me, I am going to devise a spacer so that the grippablle surface is a bit bigger.

Perfect size for backpacking or car camping. Boils water quickly. No issues regarding lid fit. Pour spout works perfectly.

Great solution for gram counting water heating. Fits a canister of fuel inside but needs something in there to prevent rattling while hiking. So stoked the lid stays attached but comes off easily. ??

Visible inside the kettle are three rows of spot welds. They are roughly at the one two and three cup levels. I believe the kettle should be a few millimeters taller so that medium sized fuel canisters would more easily fit. I'm probably wrong. The kettle is elegant and beautiful, don't ever change it.

Awesome pot, but I?ve stopped using it because it?s impractical without volume markings to measure the amount of water for rehydrating meals. Would be so easy to add, I don?t understand the decision to not include this. I?ve reverted to cheaper pots that include markings, just for convenience, which is frustrating as it?s such a nice pot

I love the Titan titanium kettle. I have my Titan cup, a small cat can stove... And a folding Vargo folding spork. Inside it. I consider it my personal mess kit. I carry with me everywhere always in my bag. Wouldn't go in here without it.

I've had this for close to 10 years now & I still almost always use it if I am out solo or canoe camping where you can bring a handful of 'extras'. The spout pours very well for 'just enough' at a time temperamental fancy pour-over coffee, its big enough to cook a solo backpacking meal & use as a bowl, it cools fast & is shockingly durable for something so thin & small. The lid fits wonderfully tight without the need for threading or heavy molded plastic or silicon gaskets. It's volumetric ratio is extremely efficient & still fits fine on teensy ultralight canister stoves or alcohol stoves without ever feeling unstable. Even after years of regular use in every condition imaginable, it has not warped in the least, just developed a beautiful custom patina. It never holds odor or taste & cleans quickly & easily. The very few downsides are extremely minor, but tiny changes would make this the most unbeatable solo cook pot available. I would 100% buy this again AND pay extra for these two changes: 1. 1/3"-1/2" taller would add *just* enough extra volume/height to easily fit a mid-size 227g fuel canister, plus a small stove. As it is now, the width is fine, but there is only enough height to accommodate the small 110g can + stove & still allow the lid to seal. I typically bring a separate mug, so the fuel lives elsewhere in my pack. 2. Stamped volume markers? I know this is probably out of the question as it I have no doubt its very expensive to modify titanium molds, but it would really add a lot of value/ease-of-use to this pot. The only other gripe (again, minor & an issue with all titanium cookware w/folding grips) is that the handles get insanely hot while this is on the stove. I easily solved this by fashioning a wrap around the handles out of moldable silicone glue (probably not kosher to mention another company by name in a review, but just google it) & it worked perfectly without adding any significant amount of weight. But overall, hats off to the design & fabrication team as this stands out as a perfect example of elegant, marvelously functional minimalist equipment built to take a beating and outlast it all.

I like this. It can be put in a small gas jar + MSR Deluxe Stove. The lid has a red heat-proof cover, which is a very intimate design, but the handle does not. I DIY it. I hope MSR can do more

Have had for a good while now and have nothing negative at all to say about it. A simple, lightweight pot that I take on nearly every trip with the Titan Mug and a pocket rocket stove nested inside perfectly. Reliable and quick to heat and cool.
