Good solid pots. Handles are a great feature, no more lost pot grippers. I would purchase again.

I absolutely love this pot design. I?d just really like to see it in titanium. The latching lid is my favorite feature. Being able to latch the lid down not only enables it not to rattle around in my pack but I can also store leftovers inside of it. Just wish it was a fraction of the weight. I?d love to see this classic design made in titanium.

I recently purchased the MSR 1.6L pot for general purpose use. I've only had the opportunity to use it once so far over a fire where it performed and held up very well. The handle folds over the top to securely latch it and the lid in place making this pot an excellent choice for storing leftovers or other items. This is my first purchase at sunny sports in which I didn't have any problems with shipping or customer service.

Use for backpacking and home use. Great durable little pot but I always loose a great deal of water to the floor or counter.

I was putting together a survival kit as a Boy Scout and needed a pot that latched. I wanted durability and I found it. It has gone everywhere with me, 48 States and 9 other countries everywhere. At over 3/4 a liter, the size I got is perfect for one person meals and storing the bear necessities. It has one dent and has traveled 43,000 miles with me by sea. My 1 year old Titanium pot scorches fast and has a few dents already. The Stowaway has protected everything I've put in it. It's not so much my survival kit anymore as a small things catch all. If I lose something small it's usually because I squirreled it away in the pot. Or didn't keep it there to begin with. It doesn't have bells and whistles like graduated markings and a pour spout. I can definitely tell those could be useful, but as I've never poured water from the larger ones, I can't say. The 775ml pours into a nalgene well enough. I don't see the point in carrying a silicone spout, but they exist and slip on over the wall of most pots. Weight is and is not a concern when it comes to equipment, if it's worth the weight you carry it. I go for rugged stuff and then look at weight. Haven't noticed any wear in the pocket of my pack where the pot sits, but some items have an odd shape that you want to pad with something. My hat goes on top of my pot and pads my bag from it, much like I pad the tent poles that I can feel through the end of my rolled tent. Take care of your gear and it will take care of you.

I used the 1.7L pot in the boundary waters wilderness for a multi-day trip with a family of 4. I usually bring some paper plates for kindling and have a few insulated bottles around for our drinks, so stacking sets were not as important as the durability. We eat well and although not a thru-hike setup, I was able to cook a luxurious meal for 4 rapidly. Combined with a wind-burner system for morning coffee and boiling water (dried vegetables, rice, noodles, etc) I could make large meals VERY quickly. The pot is not necessarily "nesting" but because the handle clamps down, I use it as a storage/transport system for many other items. Inside this pot I hold a pocket-rocket deluxe, a small can of fuel, the fuel canister stand, 4 nesting stainless bowls, a folding MSR folding spatula, grater, spoon, scraper, a GSI tongs, the handle from the alpine fry pan, steel wool and camp soap - all inside the pot. Then this fits inside the alpine fry pan. The pan is not attached, but a rubber band can hold it together for the gear bag. The lid of the pot can cover some items in the fry pan to keep them warn, but it is smaller than the fry pan and sits down in it. Didn't try frying in the lid. The bowls can be used over as low flame for some cooking and the 1.7L pot is very versatile. We eat our meals out of the bowls which are large enough for a meal a la chipotle bowls. Of you are not careful with the stainless, it will burn things to the bottom. For example, I dropped a grilled cheese during the flip and the cheese melted to the bottom of a nearly red-hot pan. It takes some elbow grease to clean in the wilderness, but a little steel wool is very effective. Once back at home, bar keepers friend completely cleans the metal to shiny new condition. MSR: If you could make a smaller fry pan and a slightly taller pot, then everything could be contained in the pot, making a very versatile all-stainless setup. Alternatively an alpine fry pan as a lid would be killer.

I have multiple sizes of the alpine stowaways and love them. Good sizes and a captured lid with no rattle that easily holds other great MSR cooking gear. Sits well on a stove, very durable and works well on a fire also. MSR has another great design!

I have the full set. I have used them for backpacking, wildcamping but they will mostly for the future be for cycle touring and overnighters. They are a great design. Combined with an MSR multi fuel stove they sit perfectly on the stove. The design is excellent. With a clip down handle which keeps the lid secure. They are bombproof being steel. Obviously for backpacking if you count grams maybe you go for titanium pots but I love these as they are well designed and will last years.

Stowaway system saves space in my pack offering a compact option for bike, canoe, and hiking and car camping. What I love about this system is my larger stowaway stores my smaller stowaway and the smaller unit in turn stores my metal cup which stores my gas canister plus my stove. I can then add a small knife, matches, spices, tea, coffee grounds, plus fire starter, thin wash cloth(s). (ps my small cloths eliminate metallic sound while hiking). For luxury trips two metal serving plates fit nicely at the base of the larger unit. Everything goes into one comparably small accessible cook kit. For solo trips I can reduce weight and size by packing only the smaller stowaway unit plus contents. For me camping comfort equals minimizing pack space creating ease of access to durable equipment. It is stainless steel the extra ounces are insignificant. This system is an all around winner for its versatility and function. No spout please, the actually do pour water very nicely if you boil half full or pour into a larger Stowaway. Keep in mind these are wider cooking units. They keep the steam in while cooking meals. Only way to improve these is to design a lightweight metal drinking cup as tall as the interior of the smallest Stowaway. The cup would of course have to hold a stove and standard gas canister among other items. That would be very Nice!

This cookset is too heavy for backpacking, but great for canoe or car camping. I like the way that it securely lactches shut with no loose parts. The stainless steel is durable and is best suited to cooking pasta rather than frying eggs...it develops hot spots where food will burn on to the pan. While some steel pans will become nonstick with use, this is not one of them.

These pots are great. I have two, the 775 and the 1.1. I have had the 1.1 for a long time and it seems to be great for cooking dinner on backpacks and camping nicely for two or three people. The 775 is just right for two, boiling water for freeze dried or simmering up dehydrated meals. The lock tight lids are really nice for travel and both of these pots hold my pocket rocket with additional stuff. Use the lid as a plate too. The handles are solid and built in. Can't loose them! Yeah some complain about the pouring from them but adjust your teachnique and it is no problem. So solid for campfire use if you wish. Stainless is a little harder to clean but everything else about these sweet pots make up for that. We have lighter cook kits but these things are our go to pots every time.

i have owned all 4 sizes of the msr alpine stowaway pot, multiples of each actually. the design is brilliant with the built-in folding attached handle combined with locking lid. i agree with most of the positive reviews here, these are great pots & they deserve 5 stars for so many reasons except one... for me it's the deal breaker, the reason i have sold off all of my alpine stowaway pots is that they always, always spill when trying to pour boiled water from them. i make my coffee every morning with a filtered manual pour over. i boil the water in a pan, then pour it slowly into the filter cone. this is how i make my morning coffee every day, either at home or on the trail. i just can't use the stowaway pots because every time with every size, the water catches on the lip of the pan & runs down the side. it is literally impossible to pour out the liquid without it spilling all over. i also own many other cups & pots in stainless & titanium, including - get this, the msr alpine 4 stainless nesting set. all 3 sizes of pot in the alpine 4 set have a lip that allows for a clean pour every time. if msr made the stowaway pots with a lip that wouldn't cause spilling, i would buy a new set & never say another bad thing about these pots, because they are truly wonderful in every other way. somebody please let me know when they do... thanks. ps - i am saying no i would not recommend this to a friend if they want to pour liquid out of the pan & not make a mess, if that doesn't matter to my friend, then i would tell them to buy the stowaway because otherwise it is the best stainless pot available.

I have been using a couple of these for years now, I am not an aluminum guys so these were an awesome choice. Very solid, easy to cook in them, good locking system on the handles, handles direct hot fires very well, easy to clean inside, great for storing gear in with its locking system nothing can fall out. With a little DIY you can suspend any of these pots over a fire, As mention before a pouring spout and graduation on them would make them perfect.

This thing is honestly great. We always bring fresh food on our winter backpacking trips. Throw a little olive oil in this thing with the food and stick it right in the coals. Cooks up perfectly. Bought on a whim but won't go out without it.

I can keep my stove inside my stowaway pot so minimal space is taken between them. It is also big enough to have a substantial meal in.
