I believe that simplicity is

I believe that simplicity is the key to good design and the redesign of these pot handles is the epitome of simple. I am happy to have paid to purchase new pots that are now in line with the name of your business (i. e. Mountain SAFETY Research). What saddens me is that I now have three 1. 7 liter pots that I cannot use, because they are unsafe. I can't resell them to someone else, and from what I was told by a customer service representative at MSR, you don't them back either. I don't care about the money to replace them, it's just that the repair to rectify the design error is so simple that it seems a shame to throw away three $114. 00 pots.

I own the 1 liter

I own the 1 liter and 2 liter pots. They are lightweight and fit a small or large fuel canister inside with the stove (based on what pot I take). The lid has held up well being tossed in my pack. The only issue I have had is that the handle sometimes comes off when opening it, but it can be easily reattached.

Having this pot, and the

Having this pot, and the smaller one, was a game changer for where we cook, what, and how. You can live with the one smaller Reactor pot - but the universe opens up with two ! Also, way prefer the sturdier handle on this larger pot than the smaller on.

Best stove ever

Boils water very fast. It's small and easy to pack. The lid packs down and functions really well. The components all pack internal so the overall size stays small. It's very user friendly and can be operationally in a matter of seconds.

nice pot, could be slightly lighter

I own all three sizes of the pot, they all have their own uses and are each pretty fantastic. The marked maximum fill for the 1.0L pot is 0.5L, and for the 1.7L pot the marked maximum is 1.0L, while the 2.5L pot lacks a maximum fill marking. I regularly push above the max on the two smaller sizes which I think is safe as long as the flame is low (which should be better for efficiency anyway) and just keep a close eye on everything - obviously do that at your own risk though. My biggest gripe is that the 1.0L could probably shed quite a bit of mass with just a few tweaks. While I like the thick walls of the pot, I'd be happy to have them slightly thinner which would trade some durability for lighter weight. Additionally, the handle is chunky at 17g, not including the cleat on the pot that the handle attaches to or the little ball + cable latch. Removing all that extra hardware from the pot could probably remove 25g total, and then users could either choose a cozy+fabric handle arrangement like the WindBurner 1.0L has or bring a pot lifter (there are commercially available pot lifters on the market that weigh less than 4g). Perhaps MSR could produce an additional pot for the reactor stove, like a 0.8L UL that had those changes? That would be an excellent upgrade to an already fantastic system

Great stove system!

Melts snow and boils water impressively quickly. It is also very fuel efficient. It is definitely not intended for any other uses though, so keep that in mind.

I've used this system for over 10 years. Never fails. Extremely durable, well built as well as portable. It's the fastest heating unit I've ever tried. Wind doesn't phase it. None better!

My Reactor Stove and Pot

My Reactor Stove and Pot are an invaluable part of my kit . It works in all temperatures , is not affected by wind and heats up my water FAST. I have been on trips where other peoples stoves have not been up to the task and I ended up boiling water for 15- 20 people. They would have had cold meals if it were not for my Reactor Stove. For multi day, unsupported trips, it is always in my pack.

Great product

used for winter multi-day trips, several of us would fire up stoves of different models at the same time. They have all switched to the Reactor as I could regularly boil significantly more water in less time then them. Order 3 sizes so i can fit to the requirement for the trip

great product

Great stove for boiling water. Only thing it seems it could be designed so that the burner and fuel can fit in the pot a little better. If everything is not just right the lid will not close or be latched. However it is my new favorite stove for backpacking

Lid replacement impossible to find

The whole set works great. I just recently lost the lid and it is impossible to find a replacement. I don't want to repurchase the whole set since I'm missing the most inexpensive part of it. I hope they can fix this soon so I can keep using their set

Great stove

The reactor stove has always been the best in my view. Quick boil times and I just looks amazing. I, like other reviewers would like to see a ceramic option for the pan as i don?t like cooking with aluminium. I?d love to see a Skillet option too.

Expensive but worth it for the quick boil times!

The reactor cooking system is fantastic. Boils fast and is easy to set up and use. Surprisingly it does not take much longer to boil water in the 2.5 liter pot over the 1 liter.

Always a winner

I've had several reactors over the years and there's a reason I keep buying another when I need to replace one. I've always used the 1.7L pot and loved it. I do wish MSR would make a pot adapter(like Jetboil does) to cook with a frying pan(or other standard pot) on the Reactor. I keep checking back to see if they've made it yet... That would make the Reactor the ultimate one-burner stove kit.

When you need your instant coffee to actually be instant...

This stove is FAST, which is great when you're super hungry, the wind is blowing and you'd like to eat a meal sometime today. It's super convenient and lightweight enough. It boils water hilariously fast. If I had my way, MSR would make a nesting alpine bowl type thingy for it so I could use it as a steamer/double boiler. Get to work on that, MSR! :) Guess I might need to get a 2.5 liter pot to be able to do that. The 1.7 liter that we have is an ideal size for two people, and the stove and a large canister nest nicely inside.
