Purchased for my SAR kit and found it ideal for this application. Lightweight, packable, reliable and fairly priced. Top notch as always, great job MSR.

I just finished making 15 pots of coffee on a long road trip and it worked perfectly and stowed in my kit without hardly noticing it. looking forward to more adventurous travels with it!

Just what I needed. Fast when I need it but slow also to simmer. Great package.

I use it during my light-weight overnight alpine mountain excursion. Just great usage, low weight and superb form factor. Make sure you track the weight loss of the fuel canister, it worked 4 nights/mornings for me (tea and pasta/soup).

Very lightweight and compact. I use it on my hiking trips and I love the fact that everything fits into the put including the fuel canister.

The size, efficiency and weight of this stove is second to none. Im a bit frustrated with myself that I didn't buy one sooner. Highly recommend. I have the whisperlite international as well, pocket rocket is a much better stove for backpacking and canoe camping

The stove itself seems to work great. I just received it today and boiled a couple pots of water to test it out. A half liter of water went from out of the tap to a full rolling boil in about 2 1/2 minutes, and the stove wasn't even on high - the valve was open about 2/3. I dumped the water and tried it again with cold water out of the fridge. It also boiled in about 3 minutes. However I have 3 minor gripes. First, during that 2nd test the insulating ring around the top of the pot softened and slid down the pot and off the bottom, onto the flame where it caught fire. It's not a big deal because the ring is too hot to hold onto when the pot is taken off the flame anyway unless you're wearing gloves. I'll just toss the insulator and use the pot without it. Second, the handle is kind of chintzy. It's a little short to provide good leverage to grab the pot, and heats up rapidly when you do grab it. And third, while the description says the pot holds .75 liter and the bowl 16 oz, those numbers are with both containers filled right up to the brim, which would be a spillage problem. 0.5 liter and 12 oz are more realistic figures. For my use none of these are serious problems, and the stove and kit will serve their intended purpose fine for me. Oh, and just FYI, the little Jetboil orange plastic fuel canister stabilizer, doesn't fit. At least not with the canisters I bought (Coleman 8 oz). If you want a stabilizer, it's probably better to get the more expensive MSR adjustable one.

Great system! Light and easy and efficient?. I made a wind screen using an old MSR aluminum wind screen from my 30 year old whisper lite it really helps boost the btu's and helps when it's really windy and I'm using a competitor's , French press and lid it works fits perfectly! Also if your using your system or any canister system in the winter or at altitude I use a re usable gel heating disc , you can find them at most kitchen stores or eBay this helps keep the fuel from getting cold which makes your stove work better without the sputtering and keeps the canisters out of your armpit's to help heat your canister when it's cold!

The stove kit is exactly what I was looking for but could use a couple tweaks to make it more functional and useful. I mainly bought for the small light weight pot and bowl, thinking maybe I could get my old pocket rocket to fit in there with a small canister. It is just slightly too narrow to fit a canister and an old pocket rocket stove, so if you're thinking about being compact just go ahead and get the full kit (the pot can be purchased on its own if you don't care about fitting a stove in or need a bowl). Pros: - lightweight, like perfectly light weight. The pot is super light, and the stove is even lighter than older versions. - ultra compact. Now I can comfortably fit a stove in my 38L pack for quick and light backcountry jaunts in the summer. - perfect simmer control - right amount of water for 1 meal/1 hot beverage. - can fit a small canister/stove in the pot perfectly Cons: - super big complaint: no built in handle/ability to keep it shut when packed. On older stoves, the handle would flip forward to keep your pot closed and prevent the top from opening and spilling all contents into pack. This one has a stand alone pot holder instead and does not stay closed on its own. I doubt the 1-2 ounces of weight required to add it would really matter and it would fix the problem. Like how hard is it to add? Also the pot holder is just another loose item to lose. To solve I put rubber bands around the pot, but I shouldn't have to. - if compact and everything Is nested (stove/holder/canister in pot), it's going to rattle and be super annoying. It's always been a problem, not really a MSR problem though. I put paper towels in to fix. - bowl should be a different color. I've heard dozens of complaints about people burning the bowl. I've yet to do that, but I also wrote on the side to take it off with a marker. Seems like a simple thing that could prevent foggy morning people from burning the bowl. - bowl could use a lid to make a more insulated cup. Then again, not super important and keeps the weight down, so super low complaint. I have a coffee cup I'll use and leave the bowl behind if I'm that adamant about a hot beverage. - last, the size. Barely getting much water out of this, but, you kind of know that getting in. So that's also not really a problem.

Really good stove kit. Small pot but fits everything I need inside it, even a small gas canister. It is a bit loud but I don?t mind it. Like it! Boils water crazy fast

The stove itself is wonderful. The flame is easily adjusted and its compact fold-up size allows me to store it safely. It's a very reliable stove (and one of three "minis" and two full-size Pocket Rockets I use in rotation). The rest of the kit is very compact and tidy, but overall seems less useful to me. The pot is too hot to handle without the pot-grabber, even with the insulating band around its upper portion, and it doesn't pour as delicately as I would like. The pot-grabber works just fine (if the lid is removed first), but it serves no other purpose (why not a built-in, fold-up handle?) The bowl has useful measurement markings but isn't very good for hot fluids.

I used my pocket rocket on my Elk hunt. It quickly warmed up water so I was able to have coffee and a warm meal (MRE) in the field, which definitely helped to keep me warm. Takes up so little space, I now take it everywhere. GREAT PRODUCT, worth every cent.

I love this stove/cook set. Boils super quick, packs super small, weighs very little. My only issue is the same as another reviewer, the rubber insulating ring on the pot will slip down, and although I've always caught mine in time, it would melt if left for a moment. Great product otherwise.

Great lightweight stove system, folding the stove is a little awkward but after a couple times it gets easier. Boils water fast, uses little fuel.

We used this to make hot water for tea at a moderately windy area and it worked great! Took about 5 mins for water to start boiling.

Replaced a pocket rocket that was stolen. Like the kit. The pocket rocket itself delivers heat fast, no matter the size of pot.

First, I do love this kit. Very compact and fits everything nicely including a bic lighter, fuel canister, and a small cloth. The weight is excellent too. My one big problem is that the rubber ring on the pot came loose, fell into the stove flame and melted. the set still works fine, and the durability of everything else is fine, just a bit disappointed I no longer have this feature. It was nice to not ALWAYS use the pot grabber or to have something to hold onto while eating something hot. Overall I am satisfied, I would give it 3.5 stars if I could.

Purchased this kit prior to a four day bikepacking trip in the South Chilcotins. Was small, compact, and I only used about half the canister of fuel boiling roughly two litres of water per day. Would recommend this kit to anyone looking to go lightweight. Only improvement I can think of is for the lid to lock on somehow - comes with a mess bag but a locking lid would be great.

Great Upgrade from PocketRocket 1
By Matt C.
Great new stove from MSR in a kit that packs into itself and weighs waaaaaay less than just about anything else on the market. I switched from a PocketRocket 1/Titan Kettle setup because my fuel can and stove can now nest into the cooking pot. Also, the Titan Kettle tends to be too hot to handle because it doesn't have the rubber grip that this pot has. This pot additionally has fill lines embossed into the sidewalls like a JetBoil, something I had to mark myself on the Titan Kettle. Some mi...
