Took on CO and MT backcountry hunt recently, held up to wind and rain with zero issue. Quick and easy to setup and tear down, and when rolled up it actually fits into the bag with room to spare. Hunting partners admired it, compliments all around

Most spacious, lightweight tent I've owned! It packs down amazingly. Have biked and hiked with this tent and can't recommend it enough. So nice to have room inside for two people to sit up! I would recommend picking up some extra guy line for the fly to be able to stake out the centre of the fly and not just the corners. In colder weather, I find that the fly sticks to the tent with condensation. Nothing a little extra staking can't fix.

I've used this as my only backpacking and camping tent for two years. I have not had any issues. I also have not used it in heavy rain or wind. I would recommend for a two person tent.

The tent held up to very rainy weather and I didn't get wet at all. It's very light weight and easy to pack. Can set up by myself in the dark. Noticed some loose threads by the door zippers within first few days of use. Hoping it's not a problem in the long run. I'm overall very happy with my purchase.

Bought my first MSR HH in 2010 and used it mostly for trekking in the Andes, Rockies, and Himalaya over the next 10 years--probably 80 nights total--in many different conditions, incl light snow and thunderstorms. It's not bomb-proof, and it's not feather light, but it is a really dependable, reasonable tent; I loved it. It eventually (inevitably?) lost waterproofing, so I bought an update in 2022 and remain just as happy. It's much lighter, just as strong, and with good care (sounds like people are inexperienced/wrenching the poles in negative reviews) I expect to have this new one for another ten years.

This summer I took this tent backpacking in the craziest thunderstorm I've ever experienced. It withstood 10 hours of hail, pouring rain, and wind without any damage to the rain fly and without any water leaking inside. Amazing!

poles fell apart after maybe 4-5 years of moderate use (maybe used 3-4 a year. just outside the warranty period. great, right?) inserts that snap the poles together started to come unglued or something and fell inside the tubing, can't assemble it anymore. The tent was phenomenal until then, but can't rebuy or recommend a product that might end up leaving someone stranded and sheltered 15-20km away from civilization. Has it been remedied since i bought it and now more reliable? I may retract that statement if i could be convinced it has been, because it was other wise my favourite tent.

I purchased this tent with a long history of purchasing excellent quality products from MSR that have lasted the test of time 15+ years. (I needed an ULish option for a 5 day hike with 2 wide sleeping pads and this fit the bill). I ordered from altitude sports and after reading all the reviews I inspected the tent and poles immediately only to find one of the Eason syclone poles showing signs of fracture so I sent the tent back and had extremely positive XP with their return process and because I was heading out within 2 weeks was able to get a replacement fast. I set up the replacement on a cooler sunny day and successfully showered it with water to ensure if I entered inclement weather I would be okay. I waited for it to dry properly and packed it away. However, this tent still had a major issue with off-gassing which I'm happy to say has subsided. But, if it weren't for the great weather conditions me and my wife would have been concerned for our health. From the very first evening I setup the tent the fly smelled awful. The only thing I can describe it as is an extremely powerful new tent chemical smell to the point where it was almost fish like. It was 34degrees Celsius when this occurred which I think is part of the reason I didn't smell it when setting it up the first time. And the smell continued for 3 nights it eventually subsided to a strong yet manageable smell by the 4th night and by the fifth night it dissipated further. I haven't set it up since but I think it's manageable now. I can attest to the fact we would be inhaling those off-gassed had I not been able to pull back the fly to sleep with fresher air. My recommendation to MSR would be to apply some heat and wind and process/remove most of the off-gassing beforehand or tell customers to setup on hot days for a few nights to get it to that point themselves before venturing into the outdoors. Maybe it's QC a someone is over applying coating? Either way I believe there are some unhappy customers out there that may choose to consider other brands in the future. Otherwise it's a great tent and design. Obviously not as durable as a non UL tent but good enough if you treat it right. I had it setup in extremely gusty conditions the 4th night on beach sand. the extra walling around the tent helped keep the sand at bay and with some guy line setup it managed the wind admirably.

I had an older version of this tent for 10 years and loved it so much that I just replaced it with this latest version. It's even more lightweight and packs really easily. It's easy and fast to set up. The inner mesh of the tent is very fine, keeps the bugs out and allows for air flow. It's also surprisingly spacious and comfortable. You can sit up easily and comfortably in this tent. And keep your pack stored just outside the tent but under the rain fly.

Used steady for 3 months. Never staying in one spot for more then a night. With many setups and tare downs the tent performed as expected. As long as there's a little bit of wind or sun it drys out quickly. I had none of the issues that others have complained about. I would definitely buy again and have suggested it to others.

I've had the 2-person for 8 years and it's been a great tent. Recently a small tear opened up on the fly & I patched it. A pole failed at the insertion point so I reached out to customer service and they sent me a replacement pole for $5 along with instructions for replacing. It was super easy to replace the stretched out shock cord and to install the new pole so the tent is ready for more years of use. It's light, easy to set up, and roomy. The warranty team was responsive and helpful. Given all of the above, I didn't hesitate to buy the 1-person version when it went on sale!

Just got back from a rainy weekend canoe camping trip in the Adirondacks. We stayed dry and comfortable through the inclement weather, paired with the 2P footprint. This tent is just as easy to use and set us as the last model. Lighter, seemingly roomier, and (hopefully) more durable zippers all spell success in this generation of Hubba Hubba!

Took the tent out in the Hoh rainforest for a few nights - it didn't rain but the tent inner and fly were both wet with condensation even with both vents open. I tried hanging up the fly and letting it dry in the sun for a few hours and then kept it on the outside of my pack but it must not have been dry enough since it developed a really off putting fart/barf smell after the first night. I've laid it out to dry a few times since then but the smell is sticking around and is really overpowering when up close : ( So, basically, make sure to have it as dry as you possibly can before packing it up. Other than that, kept me warm and dry - besides the condensation which I think couldn't have been avoided.

Top of the line tent. Stood up to 40+ mph winds and rain. We stayed dry and comfortable. Ventilation kept the condensation at bay. The interior was wide enough for the two sleeping pads. The vestibules were ample enough to keep our gear dry and protected. Light weight and compact. It's no wonder this tent continues to remain at the top of the list for backpacking tents!

I have really enjoyed my Hubba Hubba 2 because it fits two wide sleeping pads which is hard to find on the market. With plenty of headspace and pockets, I can say that I will be loving this tent for many years to come. The only quirk I encountered was the way that the rainfly was attached. While being a little more tricky to put on the rainfly. I do like the grommets because it certainly seems more durable and possibly more light weight.

Tent is super light and very easy to set up. Feels like quality materials and nice zippers. I'm a big boy and fit well but it would be tight with two people.

Tent spec numbers don't tell the whole story
By Lucian
By the specs, this tent is about average for its class. But spec metrics aren't the whole story. I just got back from a remote beach camping trip. For a variety of reasons, I had to take shelter on a small beach. I knew the time and height of the high tide at midnight and estimated that while close, it would be OK. Despite pitching the tent against the cliff wall behind me, I wasn't high enough. By 10:40pm, the water was touching the tent. By midnight's high tide, waves were breaking against ...
