The only stove I've ever used that let's you actually simmer or cook a real meal. It will still boil water in an instant too. Perfect for paddling adventures, backpacking, and even on the road trips too!

I purchased my stove in 1999 and it's been going strong since. I've only had to replace the gaskets. It works well and packs up nice. The fuel line wire mesh cover is a little frayed from many years of bending, but is still in excellent shape.

We used this stove for a crew of 12 on a backpacking trip. Its easy to set up and ignite. It held a large 8 qt. pot to cook for all 12 of us. Very stable and secure. We really like the double fuel regulators to control the size of the flame. It really helped to dial in the temp for a simmer. I will buy a second one as soon as they are back in stock!

I purchased a dragonfly in 1984 and it still rocks. MSR was kind of enough to replace the fabric-covered fuel line when it frayed with a metal mesh one (at no cost). Otherwise, never had a problem with it. It's bullet proof. These stoves are meant to last a lifetime. My model is about twice as heavy as the current ones (preceded ultralight backpacking). And yes, it's noisy but when it's super cold out and you're wet with sweat, that's backcountry music to one's ears. It'll boil a pot of water in a couple minutes. It's never failed me. Hats off to MSR for your good products.

..Can't see how any other stove in this price range could possibly out-perform the Dragonfly. With dual flame control along with the wind screen and multi fuel potential, one can prepare a meal in very decent time. Well worth the money!..

I bought this stove in 2010 and still use it for camping in the high Sierras. I've backpacked for 51 years in a row and love this stove.

Love the dragonfly for its simmer ability and love Cascade Designs for its products and service. The white insulating fabric around the bottom of the stove was only partially on when I received it, and fell off the first few times it was used. It did not seem attached correctly. It works fine without it but I could not give it 5 stars due to that.

This is my 3rd Dragonfly stove which I think says a lot. I love it, BUT they also do keep breaking (typically in the same spot). However I keep coming back to it because I love the simmering function which no other stove or brand offer to the same degree. I bring it on backcountry trips for my family of 5. And if we have a larger group we just bring two of them and they work really well even for large pots and lots of cooking.

I have had mine for a little over a year. I love it. Heats water fast. Cooks great, bacon, eggs, etc. Great heat control. I generally use white gas for fuel. But ran it on diesel for one trip, worked great. That was one of the main reasons I purchased this is you can run it on many fuels, and fuel that can be replenished pretty much anywhere. My (adult) son liked it so much he bought one for his kit.

What's there not to love with this stove! 25 years as my only stove and only had to rebuild it a few times lol. I think I've burn't every type of fuel in this bad boy. It's not quiet, but no matter the weather this thing cooks everything with ease. Spend the extra, buy the best. You wont be disapointed. However, please reduce the price of the maintenance kit.... I've paid for the stove 3 times now in parts

We have been burning this stove for 20+ years in every condition out there (northern Canada winter camping, hot summer thunderstorms...). Original blue pump cracked (as they all seem to have) and the original brazed pivot axle cracked/broke off, but have been able to repair and keep the stove going after all of this. Added a dragon tamer to fix the only real issue with the stove- it (was) pretty loud. With the tamer it is perfect. Can easily boil water in a hurry and then cook quinoa without turning everything to charcoal. As with all stoves the windshield is a must to keep it running efficiently. It is a beauty- after all these years and using everything else under the sun we wouldn't consider anything else.

I have other MSR stoves. As expected, this stove works flawlessly and will boil water fast. The simmer function is very helpful.

The wick on mine disintegrated and could not be reattached (doesn't seem like a critical piece because it works fine, just shoots flaming gas onto the ground now and then). After maybe 200 uses, the pump's pump cup came detached and the bottle wouldn't hold pressure. You put it back on, and it pops off in 2-3 strokes even when lubricated. Had to glue it with JB weld in a pinch, but the pump rod won't go it all the way now. Someone told me they had this problem and had a friend that had this happen in the first week. This seems to be the Achilles heel.

I went to the Arctic and we had this thing burning non-stop for six days without an issue. I would buy this over and over again.

This is a luxurious stove. Of course, because it can simmer SUPPPEERR FINE, it has to have more moving parts than the robust MSR XGK-EX. I compare it to that goldie popular stove., but this MSR Dragonfly is more stable and more controllable than those liquid stoves. The only downside is the pump. I have to create an adapter to connect from MSR XGK-EX to Lindal adapter, to be able to use a metal pump.

I bought this burner in the late 1990s and it just keeps going. I recently serviced it with the Expedition Kit and the performance is as good as day one. Great for winter and has enough power for anything you want to cook, boil, or fry. Take care of it and it will last a lifetime.

I want to love this stove but it has caused me problems. After a year, It goes out after 30 seconds of running. I have replaced almost every part in the expedition service kit. I could not rely on this stove. I would like to have it serviced. Not sure where. Last effort before I replace it.

Love the stove absolutely, was curious about the wick at the bottom of the stove as there is no part replacement on the store page here on the website

I bought our first dragonfly in 98 before kids. As our family grew we added a second. Works every time. Great to simmer curry in back country. I did add 2 aftermarket ?Dragon Tamer? silencers. Minimal impact on performance but much quieter.

It?s a beast. The fuel consomption is simply amazing. I did 5 days 3 meal per day with 3/4 of a 20oz bottle. It built like a tank and is easy to assemble. It?s big, but for canoe camping or winter camping, I will always bring it!

I got this stove as a gift back in 1998. I've never needed anything else. During most of that span I have been a frequent camper, including multiple months-long bouts of living out of a backpack full-time while traveling. The MSR Dragonfly went everywhere with me, burned every kind of fuel, and performed reliably in every condition, from high altitude melting snow in -20 C to humid tropics to extreme desert heat below sea level. The power output on full puts higher end stoves to shame (powerf...

I received my DragonFly stove as a Christmas present in 1997. I took it to Norway in March 1998. I was serving in the US Marines. The stove worked perfectly in the Arctic. I mainly used it to boil snow into water to re-hydrate the freeze-dried "Rations, Cold Weather".the next ten years I used it every time I went camping. The only issue I had was the older style pump cracked. I called MSR customer service and they sent me the new replacement pump for free. I left the Marine Corps in 2001. I e...
