I commonly carry these in my first aid and survival kits whether I'm hiking, hunting, working in the back country (as a fisheries biologist), or on a Search and Rescue mission. As long as you have these tablets and a water bottle, you can turn nearly any source of water into drinking water.

Always good to have these on hand when we encounter suspect water sources in the Backcountry. I use them as a back up when trekking with the My scout troop here is AZ.

I used these for a backpacking trip across the Teton Crest! I don't know what they put in these things but they never contaminated the taste of the water and were surprisingly easy to use. We would drop the tablet in and continue hiking a little bit and then it was good to go. Simple and easy. I used one box of these for multiple trips and still have a lot more.

Easy, effective, and didn't taste too much like chlorine compared to other treatments. I will definetly buy again.

I bought this item from our scout shop to carry and teach some younger scouts how to treat water if they ever needed to. Simple to use and easy for a younger scout to use & understand.

Used these in river water scooped straight from the source while on a walking safari in South Africa. Don't taste too bad and I never got sick, so I'm plenty satisfied with their effectiveness.

Strong chlorine smell and taste that definitely fades after a while. Light and compact. Recommended.

The MSR Aquatabs are effective and quick purifying tablets, leaving you with drinkable water and minimum taste and smell in just 30 minutes. They take care of virtually all the nasty pathogens that live in rivers, wells, and streams, including Giardia cysts, bacteria, and even viruses. Take a few tablets with you as a backup in case your water filter breaks while you're in the backcountry, or use them as an additional line of defense when you're in a place that has water of dubious quality.
