Works great!

After another brand's highly-rated tent was not up to our expectations, I purchased the Halo 6p. It has been great for us. We are a family of 4 and there is room for 4 sleeping bags with room to spare for gear and maneuvering. The foyer space in the front and back have worked great at keeping things dry and providing a nice, covered outside area.

Has all the best features!

I don't own this yet. But I have camped for 45 years and love tents. This tent has every feature I have been hunting for all in one tent. It is similar to REI Bascamp. But REI's material does not hold up as well as my other high-end tents, like Kelty. Kelty now does not have full rain flies. This has the full rainfly, 2 vestibules and two doors. So does REI. But this tent has venting that you can close. It also has the top venting. REI basecamp walls have too much mesh and are cold. It also has great pockets. I want it , I want it, I want it!!! My only wish is that you could close up the mesh in the doors for cold weather. When you camp on the Northwest coast, you get strong cold winds. REI used to have this feature, but they took it away.

Excellent Tent! A lot of tent.

Seems like an excellent tent so far! I ordered directly from Marmot and it arrived a couple of days ahead of time. I set it up in the back yard with my kids pretty much right away to inspect it. Everything looked good. Setting it up the first time wasn't hard but I did need to reference the instructions. We initially put the rain fly on backward but then noticed the red tags that indicate which corners to clip into. I really appreciate the color coding with the pole and the clips! The rain fly would probably be very challenging to get over the tent without a helper or two (I'm 5'6"). We kept it up for a couple of nights. Of course, had to sleep in it for one of those nights! We were pretty warm inside, which I hope is a good thing in the colder months. I like how the two doors on the tent and the fly can open all the way so I'll need to play around with pulling back the rain fly for better ventilation, especially during the day. It was a little windy at night and I could hear the fly fabric sort of flapping in the wind, can't describe the sound. However, we didn't zip the vestibule door all the way, it's a bit of a reach from the inside, so it could have been that. Was a little annoying but I was still able to sleep past it. I wanted to put it through the ringer and conveniently we had a storm in the forecast. It rained hard and the ground was definitely soggy, even puddling in a low spot under the vestibule. The tent was completely dry inside! It's a LOT of tent! The rain fly is massive. After letting it all dry out, I put it away in a 72qt storage container and I had to cram it (tent, fly, and footprint) in there to clip the lid on. Not sure how easy it will be to get back in the stuff sack it came in. Not a huge deal as we'll likely only use this for drive in camping. Got a campout planned this weekend with wet conditions in the forecast... looking forward to it now!

Poor design

Returned this item. This tent is a fail by marmot in my opinion. The small straps that hook to the poles are right on the seam where the ripstop and the mesh meet and it was already separating before we used it. Poor design.

QC issues

I wanted to love the tent after reading glowing reviews on reddit however mine had tons of poor stitching, pinholes galore, and a few other details that seemed like oversights. The lack of a full privacy door on back of tent is odd, especially for a basecamp sized tent big enough to change in. Also the expensive footprint doesn't actually clip in which is even more odd, it doesn't seem like a great design. On a positive note, I did set it up in a rainstorm and it was completely dry however the details seem really sloppy and I expected more for a backcountry family tent at its price point. I did not realize it did not have a tub bottom until I got it which was a bummer. Really conflicted at this point as a backcountry guy that's used tons of Marmot gear in the past.

By far best tent yet!

So easy to set up but make sure you check on youtube once again before heading on your trip. The radius is very comfortable and makes it feel much bigger then its floor area. It fits our 4 person situation (2 adults with 2 kids), which is 2x queen size inflatable mattresses stuck to one another, and leaves space ion front for our stuff. My only reason for the 4-star rating is that i wish Marmot made an 8 person tent, for extra comfort..

This tent was absolutely awesome!

I'm a former employee, but this is the first piece of Marmot equipment I've ever purchased. I needed a large family size tent for casual camping on the west coast and this hit all the marks plus more. Super easy setup & takedown! My wife and I had the tent ready to go including the rain-fly in about 7-10 minutes. The footprint fits well and adds a nice layer of protection. The front vestibule is huge with plenty of storage for gear and coolers. The rear vestibule is not as large, but works excellent as secondary storage/restroom option. Ventilation was great, even in warmer temps (although I'd recommend a fan still). All in all, my wife and I are beyond ecstatic with our purchase!

Roomy, and a BREEZE to set up given the size!

I have 6 Marmot tents and this one doesn't disappoint! despite it's enormous space, it's very easy to set up. While shopping for a tent big enough for 2 people and 4 large dogs, I went through a lot! I was looking at a North Face one, but again, Marmot and the double walls, wins! ThIs vestibule is quite large and has a lot of options. It also has ample fly venting which some tents had zero on their fly's! My only gripe is the half window covering in the back, but I just hang a lightweight fabric over it if I need the privacy and open rain fly. It's a very roomy and fantastic tent! I love Marmot!

Easy setup!

Color coded poles make setup a breeze. I did need a little help from my wife to put up the fly but all and all very easy. We have only had a chance to set the tent up and let the kids check it out, but we are all looking forward to warmer weather so we can try it out for real.

Halo tent old version vs newest version

Its a beautiful tent. I have had a previous Halo tent for 6 years which I have really enjoyed. I love all the improvements in particular with the mesh on the doors with the ability to cover for privacy. I appreciate the door zippers and how the entire area can be opened. However, I took a star away because with the larger doors there was a loss of pockets from my previous version. The biggest negative is the height of the tent. Our previous version my 6ft husband could stand up throughout most of the tent space. In the new version he can not stand up straight comfortability even in the middle. I will concede that the height of the previous tent likely affected its ability to withstand wind. Our last tent struggled in Joshua Tree and I'm hopeful this new version will do better.

Wow again rain, but cross venting in humidity

Great tent overall. Went camping in the winter for over 20 days on the beaches and state parks on Big Island of Hawaii- which means rain, humidity, sand, heat, lots of more rain and sand. We had 6 people; two adults, 4 kids. Here is the take: Rain? This tent is Amazing under rain. It poured and poured for days, several times a day. No water problems. We had other campers who ended up going to a hotel after one night's deluge. We helped them clean up in the morning and their tent floor was soaked with a huge puddle on the tent floor. Ours? Nothing at all. Even with the vestibule open to the elements in order to get some air venting. Five stars on the rain issue. Venting, then becomes the counter-point. As I said, it gets hot and humid and with that many bodies in a humid tropical rainstorm it's sweaty. The front vestibule is brilliant, but the side windows don't vent well and the rear is tricky to open during a rainstorm because it will cause leaks. Problem? Not much cross-venting possible. So the heat and humidity is trapped. Especially during a rainstorm. Perhaps I'm asking too much. It's an incredible tent and I don't think the competition can do any better.

Love My Marmot Halo 6P Tent!

I purchased this tent after thorough research, and it truly exceeded my expectations. Over the past 3 years, I've embarked on solo camping trips with this tent, and it has proven to be nothing short of amazing. Even during heavy downpours/thunder, I didn't use any additional tarps, and yet the interior remained perfectly dry. Setting it up is a breeze - I manage it all by myself! I'm careful with maintenance, ensuring it's cleaned and packed properly after each camping season. If you're considering it, go ahead without hesitation. The quality is exceptional, and the warm tones inside create a beautiful ambiance to wake up to. Moreover, on rain-free summer nights, removing the fly offers an amazing view of the stars through the mesh ceiling.

No fuss/high quality tent

Just used this for my first ever camping trip in the Blue Ridge Mountains with two young kiddos. Very east setup once you figure out how to orient the rain fly. Withstood the kiddos plus rain and 18 degree overnight lows. Had absolutely zero issues with it and it's very easy to adjust to the conditions. We even ate breakfast one morning in the vestibule to avoid the cold morning. The upper shelves are kind of small and not oriented vertical enough to be pockets so not sure how I'll use those in the future but very minor considering.

Great tent vs hurricane

Excellent tent. Very high quality made and durable. My only complaint is the rear door has leaked when raining before, due to rain penetrating the zipper. It was only about a table spoon of water in hurricane conditions (extreme rain/intense wind) so overall I am impressed. The issue was the rear door of the tent is only mesh with the zipper from the fly on the outside. Once rain goes through the zipper it'll drip through the mesh. The front doesn't not have this issue. Overall I would recommend, as it would need to be extreme rain for this to occur.

SWEET Tent!

Great winter guided backpacking trip using my Marmot Halo 6-person tent. It was the perfect tent to accommodate my large group. It was nestled in between the trees overlooking the river that flowed below. It kept everybody warm at night and ventilated well during the day. Impressive tent. Although it is not a 4 Season trip, I am so glad we had it and held up well in the snowy conditions. We used a pulk sled to bring it to base camp as it is a large tent. It would have almost weighed the same if I had brought 3 tents to meet the needs of the group. This was perfect rip for this winter backpacking trip.

Great big awesome tent

Finally found a tent that's big, spacious, easy to set up, and of remarkable quality! Warm and snug with fly, airy and well planned for looking out without fly. Everything I wanted! Plenty of space for us, dogs, gear!

Great size for 2 adults and 4 children

It was difficult to find a tent for our family of 6 but this tent worked wonderfully! One of my favorite features was the large mesh area on top that allowed for viewing star and even some Northern lights one night.

Great family tent

This is a cool tent. Our family really appreciates the spaciousness that the Halo provides due to the pole structure design. The walls do not close in on you and the door zipper is easier to access. We like that non-mesh material was used on the bottom 2/3 for privacy, yet the lower windows can be opened to aid in ventilation. The vestibule is huge and practical for keeping gear, and ourselves, out of direct sunlight. I like how the pole sleeves are crossing top or bottom at the center; it make threading the poles so much easier. The fly is not easy to drape over the top, but that seems to be a problem for all large(r) tents, espcially for us short (under 5'10") people.

Great investment for camping

I camp in Southern Ontario (Canada) where nights are cold even in the summer and it may rain. We have seen many rainy nights that our friend's tent didn't survive and leaked and ours remain dry. I am very happy and totally recommend it.

Awesome new tent

Loving this new tent. It's spacious and durable. I was afraid it'd look very big but compared to the other less dome shaped ones around it fit in or even looked small.
