I love the tent. It feels sturdy like it will last for years. I have only used it in summertime backpacking so far, but it's roomy, protective, and durable. I have not shared the space with anyone else, but it would work fine. The vestibules on each side are plenty big enough for gear storage.

Fun and light adventure ready tent! My 6 year old nephew and I have loved how easy it is to set-up. He is practicing for our first real trip to the woods.

As I write, it is 2024. I have had the tent since 2016. I use it as a 1-person tent. I average about 45 days a year in this tent. It is not uncommon for me to pitch it, and leave it set-up, for 14 days at a time...this long UV-exposure use is hard on tents. I have had zero problems with the tent. Never got wet, never blown away, no repairs, zippers are still 100%. It is, of course, pretty darn snug if used by two people...but, that's the nature of 2-person backpacking tents, regardless of make/model.

I have owned several Marmot Tungsten tents over the years. I am a big fan of them. Unfortunately this version has a small section of zipper on the fly that serves no practical purpose. It does however allow water to run down and drip on the inner tent. I own two of these tents and I have determined it is definitely a design flaw due to that zipper. In moderate rain you will get water dripping on to the body of the tent and pooling on the floor. Very disappointing.

I just used my Tungsten 2P for the first time, camping at a four-day obedience trial with my dog. I got the 2 person instead of a 1 person to be sure I had room for the dog. I did - in fact, this tent is so roomy that I probably could have gotten the smaller one! But it was great to have the extra space. The first night, it rained steadily. I stayed completely dry. The vestibule kept my shoes dry, too, which was great - my last tent had no vestibule, so I really appreciate having not only one, but two! The first full day was chilly and with gusty winds, 20 mph. The tent held firm. Day 2 was hot and sunny. The tent was in the sun for most of the day, but even with the rain fly on all day, it wasn't unbearably hot when I got into it in the evening, and cooled it down quickly with the top vent and both side vents open. The rain fly afforded privacy for changing into night wear, even with the vents open. Day 3 was RAINY. In spite of rain gear, I was pretty damp when I got in the tent that night. The tent its self was dry as a bone after 6 or 7 hours of constant rain. The vents gave fresh air but did not allow rain into the tent. Day 4 was again hot and sunny, but twice there were storm cells which rolled through, with hard rain and wind gusts up to 25 mph. Again, the tent stayed dry and the tent and fly held firm. This day was over 80 degrees and humid. When I got back to the campsite around 4 pm, I rolled the rain fly back on both sides of the tent, and re-staked it when I went to bed. The vents again did their job beautifully, keeping the tent comfortable while still providing privacy. I used the pocket in the roof to hold my glasses, and clipped my light onto one of the interior loops. Worked great! I was very happy with this tent, it performed very nicely in some less than perfect weather. The color coded poles, clips, and tabs make it a cinch to set up. The mesh of the top part of the tent kept all bugs out - I didn't find a single one inside the tent. The fact that there is space all around, between the tent and the fly means that I didn't have to worry about myself, my dog, or my gear causing the tent to weep if any of it touched the side of the tent during rain. My only "complaint" is the following: The tent comes with a bundle of cord and some oval plastic pieces. This is for guying the rain fly in heavy wind, for extra insurance against blowing away or wind damage. Which is great, but there is absolutely no instruction or diagram, or anything to show how best to do this if needed. The oval plastic pieces are to adjust the tension, but again, no instructions on how to use these. No indication as to whether I need extra tent pegs to use this extra guy rope. Just nothing... An old Marmot tent bag has a diagram printed on the setup instructions which are attached to the tent bag, but there are no written instructions and the diagram is small and not terribly helpful - plus it is not on the bag for this tent! Customer Service could not find any instructions on how to use the guy rope, either. Overall, I am very happy with this tent, though if I were backpacking I might look for something lighter weight. But for the car camping I am doing at present, it is great!

My 2p Marmot Tungsten has been very reliable. It kept me dry through a few very heavy downpours in the Midwest. With doors on both sides, access remains easy whether I am by myself or have a tent mate. Perfect for myself and my hiking gear. Rainfly can be used multiple ways for either privacy, easy access or wind-flow. For the price, it is durable and reliable.

This tent is fantastic for a to the point 2 person tent. I bought this tent after camping a handful of times with my friend who has an older model and was impressed by the ease of use/setup and packaging. One star was taken away for the choice of parts coloring, two pole ends and tent rivet tabs are dark blue while the rest are yellow. This is like having socks that have left/right printed on them, it's unnecessary and makes it look goofy if you mix it up. It would have been more favorable to make all tent pole ends the consistent yellow to make it easier to setup at night and reduce the chance of poking your friends eye out.

This spring I took the greatest leap of adolescence and bought my first tent independent of my family. I knew I needed something that toed the fine line between durability and portability, as I would primarily be using it for river trips and backpacking. After an extensive and frankly obsessive research process, only the Tungsten 2p met my many demands. After some agonizing, I decided to take the leap, despite never owning a Marmot tent before. I am so glad I did! My first night in this tent, my dog and I stayed warm and dry despite the inch of snow that fell on top of us. This tent vents in a way that frankly I didn't know was possible and feels relatively spacious for being just a 2 person. I would say it can comfortably fit two average sized people and two medium sized packs. I have used it now for an entire spring and summer season in the peaks of the San Juans and various river canyons of the Southwest. Never once have I awoken to a drop of condensation nor had it rattle in obnoxious winds. Its quick and easy to set up solo and can pack down incredibly small. The wide open mesh top allows for spectacular star viewing and perhaps best if all, it's a spectacular color! I couldn't recommend this tent enough if you need something light and durable or just want to make a wise investment in an introductory tent. 100/10

What I liked: Great value. Fabrics are as good as many tents 2x the price. When this model came out several years ago, it made a big hit. There was a lot of buzz on the pre-bent poles, giving more room b/c of a steeper knee-wall. Trapezoidal floor plan. Many miss this; this is not a rectangular tent. There is nothing wrong with this tent, nicely designed and sewn. Of course, could be improved with stronger fabrics (more weight), more guy attachment points, and crazy stitching, like bar tacks at strategic points. You might ( and might not) see these things on a tent 2x the price. Marmot: Not sure of the future. 1) I could not get a replacement stuff sack for Marmot down bag I own. 2) I'm on my second Precip jacket and fabric is severely delaminating. No solutions for Marmot. "Lifetime" warranty meaningless. On this tent, the coupon code would not work. I emailed Marmot. Crickets. Thus, even thought this tent is great right now, could be the last item I buy from Marmot. -

This tent (tungsten 2p) is bulletproof. It's been through the ADK's , the Whites in NH, the Great Smokies, and everywhere in between. I split the weight up with my wife, and at around 2lbs each, (.9kg) you won't find a more durable, reliable piece of equipment worth that weight in your pack. Flash snow storms in may, high wind storms at elevation, and torrential downpours in the ADK's. I've never had a drop of water in it once, and the hardware has held up better than anything I've ever owned. Great gear as always!!

This is a great starter backpacking tent, which includes a footprint. I have taken this tent on many backpacking trips which have included rain and wind and it has held up great. I will eventually upgrade to the UL version but for now I am happy taking this tent on my adventures!

While not ultralight, this is a great tent for shorter backpacking treks, especially in fair weather. The tent is easy to assemble for one person and comes together in minutes. Great quality and the material on the bottom keeps things dry. Would purchase again!

I've had this tent for a few years and it has never let me down. Well, the first time I set it up the tent was missing the pegs and I got soaked in the rain! Once I found replacement pegs it has been wonderful and dependable.

So winter storm Elliott seemed like the perfect test for my new Tungston 2P. 12 hours of hard rain and high winds followed by 29G50 wind all night. Tent stayed put and stayed bone dry. I use my gear year round to access trout streams from Maine to North Carolina in all kinds of weather. This tents a keeper.

I love this tent. It's light and small enough to work for less rigorous backpacking trips & is great to also use for car camping if I go on a trip with my spouse. Sets up very quickly & is well made. Has survived dozens of trips with zero issues. Bonus points for great aesthetic design!

This tent is extremely reliable! I cannot count how many times I have been stuck in a thunderstorm with heavy rain while backpacking with this tent. It is durable/dependable while being very lightweight. Would buy again.

This is my 3rd Tungsten: 4p, 3p, and now the 2p There's a lot to love about Marmot tents, but the Tungsten is something special! Idk what it is, but every time I buy one, I fall in love with it even more; and I keep find more room than I need! Hence the constant downsize. Started with the 4p, because I have always struggled with tents not being big enough for guests to enjoy the experience. The vestibules just added so much extra space that the extra room was TOTALLY unnecessary! That's when I downsides to the 3p. Much better for 2 people and a dog, but I still found I to be too much for the majority of my camping. Now I'm settled in happily with my 2p, and I think it's my "Forever Tent" ?? Only took a little testing, Goldilocks Style ?????????????

definitely recommend this tent! Heavy rain and Lake Superior lakefront winds for 48 hours straight and not a single leak. Warm and the stash pockets are simple but useful, I like the light diffusing light for flashlights/headtorches. Great quality, packs down relatively small, I'm looking forward to taking this with me on future backpacking trips

Camping at @10,000' in the Cloud Peak Wilderness in the Bighorn Mtns of Wyoming resulted in my GSD & I being in a memorable thunderstorm. Lightning was cracking over Lake Geneva level and below us. The Marmot Tungsten II was water tight, and easy to secure in the rocky terrain. Once the storm passed, the night was pleasant and cool. All other nights spent in the tent were far less dramatic. Great features, easy access, + good ventilation.

I've used this tent about 9 times so far and have loved it! Kept me dry in the rain a few times, and feels spacious for a 2-person tent. The colors are super fun and I love the attachments for the rain fly - the buckles make it super easy to take on & off. I'm 5,9" and love that there's enough space by my feet for a few items or small pack. It's been my go-to since I got it in the spring!

Love the double sided entries with vestibules. It's perfect for one person plus gear, not two people and their gear. The directions for the vestibule are confusing, so I'm not confident that it is put together exactly as it should be. Overall, though it is great quality and does a good job keeping the rain out.

Pop up the Tungsten 2P and enjoy the breeze with the top down, then throw on the rainfly if weather threatens. This durable and roomy backpacking tent snaps together with color-coded easy-pitch clips and poles for easy setup, and it has two big vestibules to store your pack or shoes. Plus, double doors mean you don't have to climb over your partner for midnight bathroom trips.
