Light with a firm sole for lateral support of a heavier boot while traving over loose trail rocks. I watched my girl tighten her brand new made in China boots last week ripping one of the loops near the top open. Inspect and comparison to my Lowa was revealing and pleasing. My Lowa loops extend downward under the heels, stitched and bounded to the sides. This is 4th pair of Lowa since 1999. They get duel service use as daily shoes and light hikers.
