Kelty Noah's Tarp 9 Shelter

I love these tarps & have every size Kelty makes. I've never had one wet out or fail in any way. Unfortunately the one I got is missing the paired tie downs on one corner. That was a bummer to find out in the field, but the tarp still works great.

I purchased this tarp for an upcoming beach trip. I have not used it at the beach yet, but I am planning to use it along with some tent poles to create a shady spot on the beach. The tarp is well made of quality materials, and I am looking forward to using it for many years.

We purchased the 16'er for our shelter on the Keele River (NWT) this past summer. Fortunately we had amazing weather and only had call to use it a few times . However we did experience a heavy rain and high wind storm one afternoon and setup over our tents which proved a great call. We did purchase several telescopic poles couples with our hiking poles (trees are small in the NWT) and we had a positive outcome. Getting a small version for a road trip in Iceland to add another level of comfort when hanging out on those rainy days (attaching it to our van when parked). This tarp is great quality and serves a functional purpose.

I?ve waited til I used this tarp awhile to review. Bottom line: I love it! Easy to set up an infinite variety of configurations, and most important for me, excellent performance in the wind. I use my van as one secure point plus two poles, and it?s easy to disengage from the van and reattach when needed. The only thing better might be bigger, and I could do with another pole at times. Worth every penny-and a great price.

This tarp is easy to set up and easy to take down temporarily as needed. It is attractive, and has withstood winds in the teens. I like it?s versatility.

Great small tarp for glassing / lightweight shelter. This is a good alternative to more expensive tarps on the market. Seems well built like all kelty products I?ve used. I did add additional grommets in the middle of 2 sides for more flexible shelter pitching options.

I've had a large Moss "Parawing" for years. The design of this tarp is very similar. Bought the 9' for backpacking and it's a pretty big tarp; larger than expected. However, it is very well made and I anticipate it will last for years.

This is our second Noah?s Tarp 9. We use it to create a shady spot for our large Newfie/Great Pyranees mix dog out in the yard. The dog loves it and it looks good. The tarp came with a warning that it is not UV protected. That is true. The sun (we?re at 6800?) has done a number on it. Hence the replacement mid-way through the second summer.

We have been using Kelty Noah's Tarps for years to protect our gear, have dry places to cook and get out of the sun. They are a great value, durable and light enough to backpack with. You will not be disappointed.

We used this tarp this past weekend and it was amazing! I actually connected it onto my Subaru and created an impromptu awning, what a lifesaver in the rain, and hanging some party lights off it, PERFECTION!

So far it has been great for shade in the Alabama heat. For anyone who buys it, consider getting two sets of poles. I only bought one set, and staked to sunward side straight to the ground. That made it actually feel hotter under the tarp and in the sunlight (no airflow). I fashioned two 2’ stakes from maple tree branches to get the sunward side off of the ground and the increase airflow made all the difference.

This tarp is just what I needed to shelter a little porch over our back door. It was easy to set up, and the curved cut makes it graceful and taut. We'll take it out camping and on family picnics (as soon as social distancing allows!!)

This is a great backpacking tent/tarp that also functions as a rain shelter in emergencies. The numerous grommets enable me to set up the tarp in a variety of configurations depending on the location of trees or if I am just using my hiking poles. My only suggestion to improve this tarp is to place a grommet at the center of each side.

I bought this tarp for the shade it provides on sunny days more than anything but it really showed it's value when it rained on us. We were doing a day camp where we set up the Noah tarp for shade and a couple other items but we don't set up a tent because we are not sleeping outside. There we were in the smokey mountains, miles from the hotel with this set up when it started to rain! Quickly we moved items under the Noah tarp and onto the picnic table it was covering. We stayed under the tarp with all our things for about 30 minutes while the storm passed. The tarp held up and kept everything under it dry the whole time. My setup has the Noah 9 and two poles from REI to hold up two sides. We tie the other sides to trees or the car, or whatever else. I appreciate that the tarp fits into it's bag with a little room to spare. It's never too much trouble to pack it up. We bring it everywhere now.

Nice tarp/shelter. If you need a tarp to use for sun/rain shelter when eating, well away from your tent in bear prone areas, this is a good product. It is a little heavier than a cheap plastic tarp, but it holds up to repeated folding withouting the plastic coating de-laminating. It sheds the rain and the sun. It is easy to pitch and its shape means that you can pitch it in many dif ways as needed.
