Great backpack

I bought this for my 10 year old. It fits well now as it is very adjustable, but should grow with him too. I like the padding and straps as he often carries a lot of books in it and it distributes the weight more on his hips. He loves that there is a pocket for everything, and that he can use it for school and hiking. We bought a hydration system that fits nicely in the pack. I was a little hesitant about the outside pocket for his water bottle just being mesh and would have preferred it be a solid fabric, but the mesh is very heavyweight and looks like it will last. If not we will take advantage of the Jansport guarantee and send it back. Overall very pleased with the pack!

hybrid style but handy

I purchased this as a bookbag. I also wanted a second compartment for lunch and gear. It turns out the second compartment functions as a very large pocket-the bottom of which forms the bottom of the pack; it's not reinforced. This pocket-compartment has a different material that is a greyish color and has a "high-tech" feel. There is a laptop sleeve in the main compartment and plenty of zipped pockets and accessory pockets in the second compartment.
