Once I got the right size and fit, this pack suited me well for a 3 night trip. The sidekick is an important feature so I can set up camp and still hike with less to carry. Sturdy, just the right number and size of pockets, and top or front load all serve me well.

Light-weight pack at a good price. Holds more than enough for a long weekend camping trip. Overall great backpack!

I just came back from my first overnight trip, and I love this pack so much. I've been doing some training day hikes with it but now I can confidently say this is a GREAT pack. I'm 5'4", with about 38" bust, 33" waist and 44" hips. I have a short torso and the XS fits me on the shortest adjustment. This pack really hugs my body and the hip belt and shoulder straps move with me. I was able to carry about 29 lbs on a 15 mile round trip hike and it was very comfortable! There are ample pockets and nothing extra. I like all the little loops to attach things to. The only suggestion I have for improvement: make the waterproof hip belt able to fit a large smartphone. I got a shoulder strap attachment pocket from Gossamer Gear that fits my iPhone Max perfectly, but it would be nice if the hip pocket fit the phone instead.

Awesome, sleek pack. Did my first backcountry hike with it in the Great Smoky Mountains. The pack as a whole is great, however, based on my preference, I?m not a fan of the open air outside pocket. Leaves room for things to fall out but it is very deep. So maybe that?s just me being paranoid! The front hip pockets are a little small because personally I like to keep my phone in one of them to take photos and it?s a bit of a struggle to take my phone out every time I want it. Extremely comfortable on the shoulders and torso. Seemingly dark hole of a main pack. All around solid pack.

After trying on and researching dozens of packs I decided on this one. Although it?s a little heavier than some it has all of the bells and whistles and was very comfortable, which was my main requirement. My only complaint is the belt strap. I?m 5?2 and weigh 103 lbs , I ordered the XS pack. The belt strap is so long it hangs almost to my knees. Additionally , I?ve cinched it as far as I?m able to and can?t get it any tighter. I?ve heard there is an XS strap available but would have to spend an additional $50 to order one to replace the one mine came with. I find it curious that an XS pack did not come with an XS belt strap or that it wasn?t an option when purchased. Hence , my 4 stars instead of 5. I will be returning my pack to REI and trying other models.

I don't usually do multi-day treks, so I needed a new pack for our travels through Patagonia (including 5 days on the W trek). This bag was perfect! It was comfortable, with no rubbing or sore shoulders. I liked the removable compartment for short side trips. It held everything I needed (and more).

I purchased this pack to go backpacking in Thailand for 3 weeks. It help everything I needed, souvenirs, and was super comfortable. I love that I had the option to open it like a duffel or from the top. It made my life SO much easier when stopping for a quick shower or change of clothes. What?s so great about it is I was also able to cinch it up super tight when I was using it for shorter trips where I did not need the full pack, without feeling like my load was loose or anything. I could not suggest this pack enough!

Makes backpacking a dream. Lots of padding where padding is needed to keep you comfortable on the trail. Plenty of pockets to stash snacks and gear. Easy access to inside without having to unpack your whole pack.

I purchased this pack last year for my first backpacking trip. As a new backpacker, I was AMAZED that on my first trips out, the only pain I had was in my thighs because they weren't used to hiking with around 37 pounds! Not one bit of neck, shoulder, or back pain, this pack distributed the weight perfectly! It is a solid pack with solid features. This year, I started to get the itch to lighten my load and purchased and returned two different ultralight packs because I could feel the pain with having them loaded and on and walking around the house. In the end, I decided the extra weight of the pack itself was well worth it because it not only distributed the weight better, the quality seemed much more solid. Is it a heavy pack all on its own? Yes! Is it worth it? In my opinion, YES!

This really is the Cadillac of all backpacks! I could tell right away that it was really well-made. I know where everything is and it?s very sturdy. It?s the prettiest I?ve seen and I love the colors as well. Looking forward to many more years with this pack!

I recently got into backpacking and chose the Deva 60 and I love it!!! I have a lot of health issues and scoliosis so purchasing gear that is comfortable and good quality is extremely important to me! This pack takes the cake! It is amazing quality and is extremely comfortable, it definitely exceed my expectations!!!!

This pack was comfortable but just a little too small for my needs. The outside pockets and top set of pockets were designed to help organize but consistently didn't hold what I needed them to, which wasnt much! The front pocket was deep but very narrow, and the top was split into two so did not hold my layers I needed more handy, for example. Without side access it was best to have those on the top for easy access. My phone didn't fit in the waist belt pockets, either. Hopefully the newer version fixed this.

Whether you need to head out on the Appalachian Trail or for those pack of smokes and never look back at the horrible decisions you?ve made in your life and leave it behind, this pack can fit your life in it! Fits the frame just right with tons of pockets! Who doesn?t love pockets? The inside bladder pouch (which is a drawstring backpack) removes for an easy to use day pack for quicker get aways or a great way to collect fresh spring water for your camp. The size is wonderful to fit all your needs with easy access zippers so you don?t have to pull everything out of the bag just to get to the bottom. Pack up for a few nights or head out like Alexander Supertramp, this bag is a hands down must for all your adventures!

I bought this pack 2 years ago, it was been to Patagonia, Tour de Mt Blanc, The Whites, Granite Peak, Gannett Peak, just to name a few places. It is the most comfortable pack I've ever owned, and one of the sturdiest packs too. We backpack at least 1-2 weeks every month and it looks like new. Love it!

I bought this pack for a thru hike this summer. I have been training on the trails near my home wearing it with about half my base weight (around 12-15 pounds). As a runner, it?s hard for me to slow myself on these treks, and I have found myself running down the mountains. This pack is so comfortable that even when I?m running it feels awesome! I have named her Bertha, because she is large, on charge, and confident. She holds everything I need and more. I love the convenience features, and the color! I can?t wait to really get out there and get it dirty.

I picked this as my first backpack for a summer of camping trips including a 4 day grand Tetons trip. I have been a day hiker for many years but hesitated to do overnight trips because of my scoliosis. This pack is well constructed so the weight sits on my hips. I?m still in training mode increasing the weight but am super excited to take it for its inaugural trip next month.

I'm a new hiker and I needed a pack before my first backpacking trip in the Grand Canyon this fall. I got this one on sale over Labor Day and I am super happy with it. I'm a bit pear-shaped (5'6"/150lbs) and this pack fits me well all around and distributes weight nicely. I wore it on several day hikes, loading it up with more weight each time, before taking it out on a "real" backpacking trip. I never once bruised in my hips or anywhere else. Pros: The pack is easy to get into and out of, with a front zip, bottom zip, and top flap. I took out the bottom separator but it could be nice to separate sleeping bag from other stuff if that's your preference. The load straps help secure the weight in the pack, and there are a few convenient pockets (on the back and the brain). There are accessory straps/shock locks on both sides, so you can distribute that weight evenly if you need to (it makes me crazy to put both trekking poles on one side and feel lopsided). Everything is well-padded and comfortable: the back, the shoulder straps, and the hipbelt. The distribution of the space is nice too - it's easy to load up well and not feel like you're cramming things in awkwardly. There are lots of straps and attachment points around the pack so you can hook or strap on all sorts of stuff if necessary. It's easy enough to carry two water bottles, or even three on the sides, but they are a little difficult to get to while wearing the pack. The stretch mesh pocket on the back is great for rain gear - wet or dry - or maps, etc. The sunglasses loop secures my glasses well on the shoulder strap so I don't worry about them falling off when I'm scrambling over rocks. The adjustable water bottle holder provides nice flexibility - you can carry a Nalgene or a little bottle and still secure it in place. I was able to carry a (somewhat bulky) sleeping bag, clothes, toiletries, and food for two nights/three days, second pair of shoes, and water bladder, and even had room for my teddy bear! (Note I did not carry a tent or stove, others in my group did) Cons: The hip belt pockets are kinda small. My iPhone 11 (in a Spigen case) does not fit easily, so I usually carry in my pants pocket. BUT, they are great for chapstick and electrolytes and other little things you might need quickly. The "daypack" inside a good water bladder sleeve but not super useful as a daypack. The rain cover could have another drain hole or two on the bottom (I think it has one, maybe two?) - it tends to hold water a bit but it's easy enough to reach around and dump it every so often.

Went to REI in Houston about three yrs ago. Got properly fitted. Bought a S, 70 L. Fit good. But. ended up too big and tallish (am short waisted). when loaded. Good ole REI! Swapped for XS 60 L. Am 5'7", 117..... age: over 60. female. Different measurer-er; however, traded fit for volume. Use for multi day camping. Hang sleeping pad outside, below bottom pocket. Carry food, clothes, water, dehydrated food, cook stuff, fuel, compass, flashlight, inflatable pad, tent + poles. Use color-coded bags inside pack. Also have to carry heavy stuff for two small dogs. Total wt 50- 55 lbs. Used on PCT, AT, and LoneStar. Also just day trips with less stuff. Water-resistant. Use included rain cover for pack. Suggest matches in zip lock to avoid any wet. Dogs also pack. (if I can; they can!) Try to not fumble in large pocket too much. Recommend product. The 2 side belt pockets get super stiff when below 50 degrees; worthless in cold--- zippers wont work even tho added zipper pull; pockets also too small for cell Phone but good for compass. Pockets work ok in warm weather. mesh pocket outside used for maps, quick snacks and Xtra clothing. I will buy an Deva XS, 70L next go-round, at REI when I can afford it. Mesh side thing outside valuable for water. TRAIN on Stairmaster when not hiking. Have parasol for heat/rain.

Honestly out of all pack companies I find Gregory to always be the most comfortable fit and wear out there and the durability is outstanding. The design for all compartments and where they are located is great too - simple but effective. It's lightweight and the best fit I've found! I'm 5'7", average weight, - backpacking nationally and internationally, all 3-10 days treks.

Female pal recommended this vendor. Watched u tube; shopped carefully. Had to trade larger size for smaller, better fit. Trained with loaded pack in San Antonio, TX. Took on AT, PCT and all over Europe Short-waisted. Traded fit for volume. Have some difficulty smooshing sleeping bag & tent into bag. Fits back well. Measurements in person critical; do not buy on-line. Had bag for 2 yrs. Really like. "leather" hip pockets stiffen in cold and too small to carry cell phone. Able to carry everything else, including food and cookware. Great fit for me. Suggest REI zipper pulls, stuff sacks; baggies. Tried on many before got this model. Female, 119 lbs. XS.

I use this for multi day hiking the Colorado Trail and in the New Zealand bush, Whirinaki Forest. Carries my load well, comfortable, good pockets, the fabric does not tear when bushwhacking through deep forest. While not an ultralight minimalist pack, I find it is more comfortable on my back and shoulders. I love it.

Proper fit critical!!!!! Adjust each and every time. Little issues become large longer you hike. Be Comfy! Really like pack. Took on AT, CT Am female, 5'7", 118 lbs. 68yrs. Have xs. Traded volume for fit. Pared down pack contents. Water more imp than stuff! Have many shirt & deep pant pockets for frequently- used items. Hip belt pockets stiff when cold. Replaced. Recommend shoulder "pocket" Second pack. Like rain shield.

I used the Deva 70 but I switched to the 60 because it was too big for my needs. I haven't used the 60 yet but as far as comfort it should be the same. I liked carrying all bag weight on my hips because my back was never sore afterwards. I love the organization of the bag. There are many compartments to store items and many accessible compartments too. The bag has both top and front access which is great.

I am really happy with this backpack! I ordered a different brand prior and sent it back due to sizing issues. So I was a bit leery when Gregory's size chart showed I would be a size small (I'm 5'8".) To my surprise, the pack fits perfect! I love the side kick bag as I was in need of a hydration backpack anyways. I bought the Gregory compatible 3L hydration pack to go with it. The color is more muted than the website images, which I am really happy about. The bag is perfect for weekends or even weeklong treks. All of the compartments are better than I could have imagined. A huge plus is the new version of the Deva fits an iPhoneX in the waterproof hip pocket. Stoked with this purchase. #sweepstakes

You'll be surprised by how capable the smallest Deva pack can be in so many situations. For short and long weekends, it's more than perfect, offering superior balance and carrying comfort for heavier extras like a climbing rack or a gourmet camp meal complete with a bottle of bubbly. The Deva is already a feature-rich pack, but Response A3 makes the difference - because when you combine shorter trips with Gregory's best suspension technology, you forget about what you're carrying and escape into the journey.
Response A3 Suspension: Auto Angle Adjust (A3) hipbelts and shoulder harnesses adapt to your unique body geometry for a custom fit every time you shoulder the pack. This patented system allows both harnesses and both hipbelts to rotate independently of each other, delivering a dynamic yet stable ride that adapts to your body's movements over different terrain. Response A3 helps align your center of gravity over your walking path, saving energy you'd otherwise spend on stabilization. That little bit of energy saved adds up with every step, increasing your overall efficiency - and preserving your bliss - as the miles tick by
3D AIR Hipbelts and Shoulder Harnesses: Gregory's PreCurve technology and multi-density LifeSpan EVA foam construction combine to eliminate hotspots and relieve pressure in sensitive areas. The 3D AIR mesh wicks away moisture and distributes it throughout the woven surface, increasing overall comfort and allowing the hipbelts and shoulder harnesses to dry quickly during a well-earned trail break
Wishbone Frame: A high-strength tubular aluminum frame defines the perimeter of the back panel, channeling the weight of the pack to the center of your lower back and around your hip structure. This design allows your upper body and hips to flex naturally while minimizing side-to-side sway as you hike, saving energy and keeping you more comfortable over longer distances. The frame also features anti-barreling support to prevent the pack from losing its shape and keeps the load close to your center of gravity
Matrix Ventilated Backpanel: Ventilated structural foam wrapped in breathable mesh provides enhanced moisture management in a low-profile backpanel design. It offers excellent airflow while keeping the pack very close to your back for crucial energy savings while carrying heavier loads
ComfortGrip: A soft-molded contoured pad ensures the weight of the pack transfers comfortably to your lower back and hips. Silicone grip overlays prevent the pad from slipping, keeping the hipbelt in position on your body's main load-bearing structure
