Questions & Answers

TRACY C : can I get a large hip belt with a medium backpack?SCOTT H : I do think Gregory offers hip belt options for this pack but I don't think that combination you mentioned is available directly from a supplier. You will probably need to order that separately, and from Mfg. Misty Mountain Fog Dragon, VAJessica S : You will need to contact Gregory directly for help in getting a different size hip belt http://www.gregorypacks.com/customer-support/contact.JAMIE M : YES you can get it from Gregory for free . You will have to exchange themSUSAN J : you might have to contact Gregory on that one. I do not know if they do that or not. But I can tell you that I really like the pack. mike JKENT A : Sorry, We know nothing about the options available for this pack. Seems you would need to contact the manufacturer. KentERIK B : Yes, Gregory will accommodate this request. I have ordered a medium pack with large waist belt in the past.
Shopper : how much weight can the baltor 75 carry?ERIK B : The Gregory Baltoro 75 can carry a maximum of 50 pounds, however it most comfortable on long hikes (greater than 5 miles) if the weight is limited to 40 pounds or less.STEPHEN E : The Gregory website has specs on all the packs. While you might be able to physically carry more than the specified 50 lb limit for this pack, it isn't designed to allow you to *comfortably* carry more than 50 lbs. If you want to carry more weight than that, look for a bigger pack.JULIE C : I'm 120 pounds and I've carried 60 pounds in the pack with no problem. I absolutely love this pack! It is so comfortable and fits me well. We hiked 6 miles with that weight and although I was a little tired by the end, I felt balanced throughout. Good luck!JAMIE M : The Baltoro 75 is a great backpack . It is recommended to about 55 LBS carry weight. I push my gear to the limit . I carried 75 LBS no problem on a 15 Mile Hike. I smashed down hard about 3 times on steep Ice almost broke my arm but the Baltoro held up great. I was amazed this pack held up to the abuse I put it thru . Gregory will also switch out shoulder harness straps and waist belt for more of a custom fit for free . Bottom line you can't go wrong with the Baltoro 75. SunnySports Had the cheapest price and fast shipping. I will buy more gear from them in the future .GREG B : I've had mine with almost 50 pounds don't know what capacity is but it did it well to 12000 feet. Working on lighting my load but is a great pack. Apittle on the heavy side but tough as nails. My next pack will be lighter but for a tank it's compfortable as anything out there .JOHN S : The typical packer weight is 40lbs or so and the Baltoro 75 can easily handle twice this amount... but your back may not!!! I've had mine loaded up to 60 lbs for training purposes and the pack had no problems. WalkingMan
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?ofek D : good for treacks

Good load hauler but overly complex

Weight is not everything. I've used this on a couple trips now and can say that it is a very comfortable pack, with good adjustments and a lot of features for the weight. I lead middle schoolers on trips, so I opted for a pack with enough volume and weight capacity to handle...unplanned loads. It is an excellent pack for this, but I knocked a star off because there are a couple "features" that I found do not live up to their billing. (My model is now at least a year old, so there may be some updates). - The "sidewinder" water bottle holder is too tight for a standard Nalgene and set too far back. Getting a Nalgene out is OK, but putting it back in is challenging. My right shoulder has some rotation limitations which makes it worse, but I think it would be a problem even without that. Because it can't change sides it is useless for me. - There are only 2 side compression straps, with the anchor point on the top strap so high there is a lot of space between them, making them less useful for lashing and allowing a lot of bulging unless packed carefully. Bottom line it would be great to have a pack built on this chassis, but maybe lose some marginal features that could be better solved with better designed optional accessories and better compression that would make it a little more adaptable.

Comfortable pack

Great pack. The waist band is extra padded and really comfortable. The main compartment is very roomy. Only thing I would change is to add some loops to the exterior for additional carabiners and/or strapping. But overall it's high quality pack for a reasonable price.

Nice pack. Ended up with a size too big. Returns are expensive.

Almost perfect

The quality of the material feels amazing, really love the removable day pack. Sad that they made the hip pockets so small

Bomb proof, so long as you don't mind the weight

Lots of pockets and padding and adjustability that works well for my son. Of course these features add heft but might be worth it for some people.

Mens Baltoro 75

I am 5' 10" 240 lbs. This pack fit great especially with broad shoulders the pack offers options to adjust the shoulder straps from the frame of the pack making this a great option. The material is sturdy, durable and can handle the outdoor elements. The pack has a number of pockets making access to gear easy. The extra included day pack is a great bonus. Its like getting 2 packs for the price of one. If your an ultralight backpacker this pack is comes in at 5 pounds something to think about. Only reason i didn't give 5 stars is because the hip pockets are small but Gregory took care of that on the new Baltoro 75

Baltoro 75

I used this pack for the first time on an 8 day High Sierra trip. It carried nearly 50 lbs. through a lot of rain. It is by far the best pack I have used. It is very comfortable and the 4 independently moveable shoulder and hip straps enable it to move with the body. I moved down steep areas quickly with almost zero bounce or shift. It also has convenient storage options.

Time to retire the old Nova

I bought a Gregory Nova in 1987. Even after 35 years of use (and abuse), ALL of the zippers, buckles, fasteners, etc. were still in like-new condition ? and there were no rips or tears either. It never failed me. But, nevertheless, I decided to upgrade because the new Gregs are much lighter and of course have other "new" features (e.g., built-in hydration, hip belt pockets, easily adjustable sternum strap, better ventilation, & etc.). My new Baltoro did not disappoint ? it has a very comfortable fit & the ergonomics are perfect! I hope to have my Baltoro for several decades of reliable backcountry service as well. Thank you GMP!

The perfect pack

This is an outstanding pack. I pack year 'round and this is my fourth Baltoro 75, not because it wears out, it never has, but I just want a fresh pack after a couple years with it. I carry 52 pounds and this pack never gave me something to complain about. I wouldn't even know how to suggest improving it. Its great!

Solid pack

Love this pack. Fits better than any other that I?ve tried. Pocket placement on the pack makes organizing easy. One down side is the draw string on top of the pack is very weak. Mine broke one the first night of use.

Exceptional multi-day pack

I purchased this pack from REI after trying on many different packs. It was replacing an early 80's Lowe Alpine pack that has been, and continues to be, super reliable... albeit heavy. What a wonderful pack Gregory makes. The suspension is sublime, the pack moves well no mater how it is loaded and it is super spacious! I love the rain cover, the hip belt is perfect and it has handled a huge load with ease (52 lbs)! I am 6', 190lbs and the medium fit me perfectly! I don't think that you can go wrong with this pack!

comfort fit & organized design

strap tensions are in perfect location to get the right fit and adjust as needed. Easy access throughout the pack to get what you need. multiple external pockets. even the belt strap pocket is perfect for my small smartphone. or my digital camera which is most likely what I will use the pocket for as I will not need quick access to a phone on the trails. I can see as soon as I recieved this pack why it one awards. its a real nice pack

Very Sturdy Pack

I?ve had this pack for 10 years and still use it on every backpacking trip I go on (and I go often. No issues except for one small tear on one of the gear loops on the strap but for ten years? Incredible.

Best Pack I Ever Owned

I bought this pack in spring of 2019 to start backpacking with my grandsons, The suspension system is great and really comfortable, no matter how heavy I load it, and the load can be adjusted with the suspension adjustments. It's comfortable! It has a removable daypack built in, and the pockets are roomy. The material seems really durable also. This thing will stand up to about anything, and will probably be the last pack I ever buy! Highly recommended.

Excellent backpack

I was on market for backpack and choice narrow down to Osprey Aether vs Gregory Baltoro 75. I've tried both (with 40lb load and I really like Baltoro 75, it does have very good lumber support vs Aether also it's fits very well on my back. Overall I really love Baltoro 75.

Great Pack and Great Customer Service

I bought this pack in August and waited to write a review for a few months so that I could thoroughly use it. The first thing to note is the pack is super light! But yet it also feels sturdy. I have taken the bag on now 4 backpacking trips ranging from 2 days to 8 days. Through all the trips, the bag has been super comfortable to wear and distributes weight well. In addition, pockets and zippers are placed in convenient spots, allowing for easy access of water, snacks, food, and equipment. After the 4th trip this season, the pack has begun to fray at the straps. I have contacted Gregory and their customer service replaced the bag at no cost! Really great to say that. TLDR: Would recommend the bag and Gregory as a company.

Lightweight, comfortable, and accessible

I?ve had this pack for a few weeks now and have taken it out on some easy day hikes just to get used to it. So far, so good. The pack is extremely lightweight, fits well, and has lots of storage with easy to access compartments. I?m looking forward to getting down to North Carolina later this spring for some longer, overnight hikes.

Comfortable, and great features!

I bought this pack for the AT, I?m only doing 70 miles/ 4 night, 5 day hike. Lots of room, and great features, the zip open access to the main compartment is so convenient. Another feature is the hydration pack holder doubles as a day pack. The comfort and weight distribution was unbelievable. Happy I chose Gregory.

Great Gear Hauler

The Baltoro 75 is a great pack for longer backpacking trips and early spring/ late fall trips when you have to carry more gear. It is extremely comfortable to carry, even with bigger loads. The layout also makes it easy to organize and get to your gear. I have been using Gregory packs since the 90's and I think they are the best pack on the market.

Wonderful pack

By Taylor

Amazing pack. The Gregory Baltoro is the only pack that fits me right. It is the only pack that I found comfortable enough to take it on a week long backpacking trip. I hate bladders they always seem to leak and get my stuff wet so I use my water bottle most of the times and I can grab and put away my Nalgene 1.5L water bottle in the water bottle pouch on the side. The price is kind of high and I am cheap so it took a while for me to make my decision on what pack to buy, but when I went...

Amazing backpack!

By Bruce W.

I have used the Baltoro 75 on several 2-day trips now, and absolutely love it. I've been backpacking with my wife and two young daughters, so I carry a lot of extra weight for them (food, water, etc), and the Baltoro handles it easily. My pack weight has been about 45 lbs, but once the Baltoro is on, it feels like 10 lbs, and I feel like I can hike for days. Not only is the main pocket huge, but the Baltoro has a lot of storage pockets and places to organize your gear. I highly recommend the ...

Spacious yet agile, loaded with features and technology yet intuitive from the get-go, the Baltoro 75 is the perfect multi-day to week-or-longer pack. With enough space to stash a celebratory bottle of vino or extend your stay another day on a whim, the all new Baltoro 75 will keep a smile on your face, as its Response A3 suspension provides adaptive support and ventilated comfort for long days, heavy loads, and technical terrain.

• Response A3 Suspension: Auto Angle Adjust (A3) hipbelts and shoulder harnesses adapt to your unique body geometry for a custom fit every time you shoulder the pack. This patented system allows both harnesses and both hipbelts to rotate independently of each other, delivering a dynamic yet stable ride that adapts to your body's movements over different terrain. Response A3 helps align your center of gravity over your walking path, saving energy you'd otherwise spend on stabilization. That little bit of energy saved adds up with every step, increasing your overall efficiency - and preserving your bliss - as the miles tick by

• 3D AIR Hipbelts and Shoulder Harnesses: Gregory's PreCurve technology and multi-density LifeSpan EVA foam construction combine to eliminate hotspots and relieve pressure in sensitive areas. The 3D AIR mesh wicks away moisture and distributes it throughout the woven surface, increasing overall comfort and allowing the hipbelts and shoulder harnesses to dry quickly during a well-earned trail break

• Wishbone Frame: A high-strength tubular aluminum frame defines the perimeter of the back panel, channeling the weight of the pack to the center of your lower back and around your hip structure. This design allows your upper body and hips to flex naturally while minimizing side-to-side sway as you hike, saving energy and keeping you more comfortable over longer distances. The frame also features anti-barreling support to prevent the pack from losing its shape and keeps the load close to your center of gravity

• Matrix Ventilated Backpanel: Ventilated structural foam wrapped in breathable mesh provides enhanced moisture management in a low-profile backpanel design. It offers excellent airflow while keeping the pack very close to your back for crucial energy savings while carrying heavier loads

• ComfortGrip: A soft-molded contoured pad ensures the weight of the pack transfers comfortably to your lower back and hips. Silicone grip overlays prevent the pad from slipping, keeping the hipbelt in position on your body's main load-bearing structure
