This is a nice enough jacket for shoulder season use. BUT don?t be fooled as I was by the wool padded description. The outer surface of the jacket is soft and wooly. It?s ok, but wearing it as a midlayer is not going to work except under a roomy rain shell. The jacket is thick enough to preclude wearing it under any normal fitting outer parka/jacket. Also the snap buttons are the only fasteners in the front. No zipper. The top 2 fasteners near the neck are difficult to snap because of the cut of the jacket. The side pockets are ok but they?re the ONLY pockets except for a small chest pocket.

Purchased as a gift for my husband as a replacement for his SmartWool anchor line shirt jacket. He says this is much nicer and warmer.

This was my first FR piece. Just warm enough for down to the freezing level, looks and fits great. With the collar up and a good toque(beanie) you're set for a day outside.
