I purchased 3 AVX mounts along with several larger for heavier scopes. I needed more counterweights since this will hold a C11" and works well with that mount for visual use. It is superb with an 9.25" either visually or photographically. There is a post on FB SCTs that shows what a C9.25 and the AVX are capable of, suggest you check it out! And it was not the HD EDGE it was the XLT version, loses nothing photographically to the HD...interesting. I put a C9.25 on one of my AVX mounts and the damp time at 427x was only .5 seconds...this is sturdy! Alright, I put the SkySync GPS module on this and others, fabulous addition. A must have in my opinion. I like the AVX over the CGEMs that I have for three reasons, lighter weight but still very capable, the bearings in the DEC axis are sealed while in the CGEM (II) they are open to dust. There is a little friction in the axis that some might find objectionable, not so when loaded with a scope and it means that you can retain balance when switching eyepieces, e.g. a light 1 1/4" to a heavy 2". With the CGEMs it throws the entire balance off. I also added the Polar axis optical finder...it's great. If I set any mount up with a solid level and perfect polar alignment the gotos are perfect if I do a 2 star + a calibration star or two. Overall this mount is superb for imaging right up to a C9.25. Imagers would only want to put an 80mm APO on this but that's untrue. This IS a very capable mount! So, are there any takeaways? Yes...there is no level built into the mount. I made my own, see attached images and it works beautifully. Celestron needs to add a bubble level to the AVX. There are no other faults. The hand controller is more intuitive than the SkyWatcher controller. I have those mounts/controls as well and one must verify the GoTo several times before the scope will actually slew to the object, redundant. If you are in the market for a good mount that has a lot going for it then by all means the AVX is a great mount. Adorama sales are tops in the business as well!

Good advanced mount. Easy to use and fairly lightweight for portability, recommend it over the CGEM2 mount for that reason for smaller tubes. Beware though the inputs for the declination motor control to motor are VERY loose. I returned one thinking the motor was faulty but it turns out the input was just loose enough to cut out when turning. Replacement has the same problem but not as bad. Feels odd to stick some tape on such a spendy mount.

I upgraded my mount from a celestron evolution mount because I wanted to the ability to add a guide camera. The tracking is very steady, allowing for excellent images.

I purchased the Celestron AVX to replace my Celestron evo. So far it is working well. It is helpful to be able to easily polar line. This mount is slightly heavier than the evo mount slightly more work to set it up and more stable.

Totally frustrated that the power supply for the drive is only designed to be plugged into a automobile cigarette lighter. There was no power brick to plug into line power. Kind of ridiculous. Rest of package was as expected.

The mount looks really good. However your online advertisement was a little misleading. Your ad still states that you are expecting these kits to come into your warehouse any day now. The same thing it said when I purchased the whole kit in mid march. The telescope is on backorder and from indications in talking with other telescope outlets it could be 2-6 months. So it is very hard to tell you how the mount works when the essential piece of the kit is backordered. It is hard to recommend something that I have not received yet.

The AVX mount is even more substantial in weight, strength, and stability than I expected. It has plenty of capacity for my 8? SCT along with guide scope and other accessories. I added an extra counterweight for balanced slewing which it does smoothly. Couldn?t be happier with the service from Adorama and the speed at getting the product to me.

Extremely sturdy, 30 lbs max capacity. Haven’t powered it on yet, still waiting on the OTA. I did get the polar scope and aligning it was a piece of cake.

Awesome mount, Adorama did a super job after the first one had died after 10 minutes of use. The return and replacement was handled in a great way by the Team! Heads up! I use this with a Starsense and GPS as well as focus motor with a Celestron 8" scope and it's very well balanced. Rock solid performance after updating all of the firmwares.

Excellent Mount, came in very good packing and instructions. Very easy to install and calibrate. Decent weight, easy for travel. Once calibrated it perfectly finds celestial objects through celestron auto guide system. I bought a polar scope separately which is a good add-on for polar alignment. There is a weight limit on this mount, i am using a 8 inch scope and with all my other accessories it balances perfectly !

Haven't used some of the features or tried a heavy load. Looks and feels solid and tracks smoothly with 10 lb refractor on it. Assembly was no problem. Confident it will carry planned future upgrade to 9.25" SCT.

TLDR; Fantastic mount. Buy it, learn it, be patient and enjoy! KEEP THE PACKAGING! There are bags which are designed to wrap around the OEM foam, so keep it! *the new model comes with mini USB remote, instead of serial, but you'll want a good 6'/2m cable, as you should absolutely plug this into a computer and update it right away. Get familiar with the handset, but Celestron's "CPWI" program is brilliant, so GET IT! I've had this for a few months now, and all I can say is it is my baby. While I have no other tracking mounts to compare it to, it has served me well. There have been many reports on the net about its potential failures, as I'd expect exists with most gear. And although it can be tough to find good detailed information about its operation, the mount works well if you work to understand it and follow the proper steps. For example, it has fantastic accuracy if you've worked to balance everything appropriately. There will be small variance, but it has PEC adjustments, and it's worth going into the advanced settings to configure. Become familiar with different styles of balance (i.e. east heavy, etc). I have traveled a fair amount with this mount, and it's quite easy to pack up and deploy quickly. It's set up in a side room, and it takes me less than 5 mins to get it apart and back together on the driveway. When I travel, it's in 3 pieces, and fits in my compact car. It's not terribly lightweight altogether though, so don't plan on taking it on a long hike. A final recommendation: The power adapter they send has a screw on the end of the barrel connector, which is quite difficult to find. The barrel tip is the long type (there are lots out there), so instead of trying to replace the cable, which fits to a cigarette lighter jack, simply grab a converter for cigg lighter back to DC barrel (doesn't need to be the long tip kind) so you can easily plug it into a 12V power bank. Otherwise, you're fine if you intend to use it directly with Celestron's own power bank or some other which has the jack, as long as it outputs 12V. Consider getting a Celestron 17lb counterweight if you plan to go big on the OTA, but remember, the mount is only rated for 30 lbs (does not include CW). - @astro.nooob

The AVX mount is great. It's my first mount, so I have nothing to compare it against, but it seems to be built solidly and once you have your polar alignment dialed in it locates/tracks like a champ. Speaking of polar alignment, you'll definitely want to invest in a tool to help you do this. I got Celestron's polar finderscope (94224) which (and again, I have nothing to compare it with) gives pretty good results with a bit of practice. One other thing you'll want is some kind of bubble level to level the tripod. The user manual says the mount includes this, but that's not true. The AVX is easy to use with the handheld controller, but do yourself a favor and read (and re-read) the AVX manual closely to learn how the mount works, how to control it, and how to configure it. FYI my OTA is an EdgeHD 8", and the pairing of this with the mount has been great. Adorama was the only place I could find that had this mount in stock (July 2020), and they were great to work with.
