I use this whenever I'm getting started before sunrise, putting on my skins or loading my pack from the back of my jeep. The light is bright and handy. It's much better than a lot of flashlights. I'm thinking of getting the blue one too to have a pair of them!

I'm usually a headlamp guy but I do like this light. It's brighter than I anticipated and it feels like it's built well. I think it will be a good light source for some specific uses.

BD does great lighting. This one is fun, fits almost anywhere, and is quite useful. I naught a bunch for sticking stuffers. My family is spoiled by my love of BD gear.

I wouldn't recommend it as a backup when hiking as it's not super bright and a little too heavy. However, it's a great little light for camping. It's perfect to hang in my tent while changing or to take to use the facilitrees. This is not great for backpacking but is good for car camping.

I love this little light. Tough, reliable, relatively lightweight, easy to use. I only wish it was offered with either a colored (amber) globe, or colored leds to prevent drawing every flying insect at night. Red and blue globes wouldn't hurt either for folks worried about their night sight. Maybe swappable globes? As it is I'm going to research what plastic the globe is made from and look into tinting it with a dye. This minor quibble aside, the light is perfect.

Got this for a light weight way of lighting a campsite after a day of hiking. Just enough light to avoid tripping over everything. Lasts long enough to get a weekend trip on a single set of batteries. I just hook it to the ridge line of a tarp and I'm set for the night.

I love my Black Diamond Spot headlamp, so I thought this would make a great companion as a lantern/flashlight. Here are my impressions and conclusion. Good: - Ergonomic in the hand - Fairly stable standing up Great: - Aesthetics are pleasing and accessible - One button interface for dimming and switching modes Bad: - The 4 AAA batteries are uncompelling, though arguably useful - Low water resistance - Flashlight brightness is disappointing Ugly: - Build quality: large gaps in plastic housing, visible glue under lantern, battery compartment latch feels janky, plastic on hook slides off Conclusion: The Zip Lantern is appealing until you get it in your hand. Whoever worked on the Spot headlamp clearly didn't work on this - it just feels low quality. If the price drops it could be recommended with reservations, but the current version is begging for revision.

I purchased this lantern for my trip to Tanzania. I think it will perform nicely at our camps. Has plenty of diffused light and the flashlight is powerful too. Simple to use the various settings. Unfortunately my unit was missing the hook for hanging. Ensure your package has the hook.

This is great everyday carry kind of flashlight. It?s small enough to fit in a pocket, if needed; so functions well as an old-fashioned hand flashlight (which I was hoping they would make; something like the Astro, but small, cylindrical, classic shape???. I mostly carry this light in my messenger bag that I take to work everyday. I use my Zip lantern and color Moji lantern almost everyday; keep them by the bed (an I weird?). I keep my Gizmo in the car, for emergencies. I?m about to pick up that new Spot 325. The only problem with the Zip lantern is there is a little space between the battery compartment door and the body. So don?t expect technical job integrity on that part. But, for basic use, it?s wonderful. I switch back and forth between the lantern and flashlight mode, depending on my need. I?m very satisfied with this product.
