I might forget my boots on a trip but not my Alpine Carbon Z Trekking poles. Light, Strong and I LOVE the cork handles. The cork is never slick even when I sweat like a waterfall, The cork has molded to my hands. These poles have saved me MANY MANY hard falls. Very Pleased.

Super light, compact, fit INSIDE the pack...FAST changeovers. Plenty strong, if you're careful enough. Added some Ductape to open-click easier with mitts on...and easier to 'choke' one when traversing. Took the straps off too, was easy enough.

I have only used them for a short walk. I think they are a little long so the scale doesn't work so great. Light and strong but will see how they do in the mountains while wearing a big pack.

I got this a few weeks ago did 3 hikes so far, mucky Florida. The trekking pole works well and all the extra details of quality are there. As with all gear care is up to the owner, I keep them built but unlocked, standing upright. The pole is used for getting spiderwebs out of my way and helps my knee in reducing stress and pressure. The poles are really lightweight and fell nice and sturdy. I got the size I knew would work and the size does indeed work. How can I pick this thing apart and find some flaw, honestly I can not do that as of now, I am really happy so far with this item and the price.

I bought these poles to serve for hiking, ski touring, and travel, and they seem to fit the bill. They are light but still feel solid, and pack down small enough to fit in a suitcase. I like that they come with the extra pieces needed for snow and for hiking on earthen or rocky terrain. You don't have to bother with finding and buying the accessories: they're included. With Black Diamond quality I expect to use these for years to come.

Ive had a few sets of trekking poles over the years. They’ve all been adequate, but now I couldn’t go back to them! BD, these poles are just awesome! Lightweight but bomber, comfortable & ergonomic. These will last me for a good while! Thanks again BD!

I've used these poles on several steep hiking trails since I bought them, and they're so great to give stability on the steep and narrow uphill and downhill trails. I feel like I can safely try out more difficult trails because these provide the strength and support I need to feel confident. They're incredibly easy to put together, perfect for my arthritis, and they weigh next to nothing! The cork handle grip makes it so you can use them all day without your hands getting sweaty or sore. I definitely recommend these poles!

Fantastic weight, cork hand grips and straps. Really enjoy the versatility of using both the rock and the ice tips as well as the different baskets that can be deployed based on the terrain or activity. The weight and size of the poles is fantastic when you're covering long distances or need to fly to your destination. I learned the hard way, however, that these poles are NOT meant for skiing (back-country or in-bounds. After 5-6 months of heavy use, one of the two metal connection pieces gave out (slid into the shaft) after being weighted and the pole required a screwdriver and some epoxy to fix. I was extremely disappointed when this happened but they appear to be manufactured well enough that the repairs should hold up nicely. When I contacted Black Diamond's Warranty Team to resolve the issue, they did so very quickly and professionally. The team kindly informed me that the intended use of the poles did not really include skiing. They provided instructions for fixing the broken pole and even sent me a brand new pair of their back-country specific ski poles to make it right. If you're looking for a very lightweight and company hiking pole made by a great company, look no further!

I owned the Alpine Carbon Cork up until buying these and was satisfied knowing that I had nicer poles than everyone around me, no matter where I went. My philosophy is to do my research, and pick up the nicest product available, trusting that quality to last for as long as I do. With that in mind I was hesitant to buy another set, but these have one key feature which the flicklock poles do not. The Z pole design means they are quicker to deploy, AND pack up shorter to take up less space strapped to my pack. I use them for ground SAR where I find that the most important aspect of a pole is that you actually brought it with you! So often I would leave my Alpine Carbon Cork in the car because I dont think I'll need them today. The size, and overall ballerness of these poles (the Alpine Carbon Z) make them ideal for SAR and tracking, snowhoeing and hiking. Pick up a pair and take them with you, every time.

Alpine Trekking Poles

Incredibly lightweight and easy to store in backpack !! When assembled they are very sturdy and strong. Great Grip and Craftsmanship!! Highly recommend if you want nothing but the BEST!!
Black Diamond's durable, four-season, carbon trekking pole now has improved joint support and increased durability, making the Alpine Carbon Z-Pole a strong yet ultralight pole for mountain missions.
Z-Pole Rapid Deployment System
Concealed inner cord
Single push-button release to collapse the pole
One-pull, Speed Cone deployment
Speed Cone technology comes from Black Diamond's expertise in avalanche probe design - a key component of Z-Poles' stiffness and fast deployment. Simply grab the grip and the first shaft section, and pull them away from each other. The pole will snap into place and lock. Each Speed Cone guides a shaft section into place, and stiffens the joint when the pole is locked. Protective, flexible tube ends cover the pole's Kevlar center cord when folded.
