Simple and bright
No fancy bells and whistles here. Turn it on. Turn it off. Perfect. Very bright within a short distance, perfect for round the campsite. Doesn?t throw light very far so not for biking etc.

Good dispersal style of light
This is great for around camp or on the crags where you don't need a long throw hotspot. Also good for slower hikes, but just a bit underpowered for rough trail running where you need to see the upcoming root or babyhead in the middle of the trail on the fast decent. I bought two -one for each kid- and don't regret it at all.

Sleek and compact with a good light
I went with the Astro 250 for the size. It'll need to sit atop my ski helmet for the last sweep of trails tjios winter. I do like the size and portability (it'll be in my pocket while I'm on the mountain). I think the light will provide good viewing at night. It is very wide. I'm giving it 4 stars due to the brightness. I could have gone a step up but was concerned it would have been too big. All in all, I'm very happy

Saved My Life
I was hiking down a trail late at night recently. It was around 10:00 pm, I was with two other people. Everything was great when a stick snapped to the right of the trail. I looked over and glowing back at me about five feet off the trail were two eyes. Staring us down was a cougar. The bright light was enough to startle it. It didn't give up on us then, it kept following us for the last mile of the trail. This light was the one thing that kept it away from us. I couldn't recommend it enough. It's bright, long battery life, and reliable. If you need a good headlamp for cheaper, this is hands down the one for you.

Black Diamond is awesome!
Black Diamond makes amazing headlamps. They also stand behind their products and have always been great about replacing them should they fail. I wish all companies would emulate them and their outstanding customer service!

Lightweight and very packable
I love the Austro 250 Headlamps because they are lightweight and small enough to fit in a pocket. I keep one in my pack and my purse--they've come in handy on many occasions!

Not much to say, it?s simple and very bright. If you have a previous generation headlamp, it?s time to upgrade and this is a great choice and great value.

Awesome headlamp
This is a great entry level or minimalist headlamp. I really like the dimmer feature: it's easy to use and will help you save battery juice. It's pretty bright at full strength so I almost always dim it. I also like that it's very compact and light, and the battery compartment is easy to open and close by hand. Water resistant is a bonus if you're caught in the rain or play in the snow. Finally, the lockout function is intuitive and I always use it so my headlamp doesn't turn on by accident in my pack.
All in all this is a great headlamp that is pretty hard to beat for $20.
Get one!!!

Good features in a small package
This replaced an older BD headlamp. The 2nd button which switches between high, low and red is so much easier to use than the single button system. I also like how small and light it is while still being plenty bright. Hopefully I never need the waterproof feature but its nice to have.

Nice Standard Headlamp
No fuss head lamp is easy to change light settings without having to go back and read the instructions. Band is comfortable and light is nice and compact. Perfect light for car camping!
