Favorite UL tent holds up in all conditions

We've had this tent for 5 years and it is hands down my favorite piece of equipment on the trail. It is such a breeze to set up/take down. It's withstood extremely high winds (properly guyed out) and even light snow. We've hunkered down in it during intense thunder and lightening storms and felt safe and secure. It is cozy for 2 people, with enough room for small items at the head of the tent, keeping packs in the vestibules. LOVE the Mtn Glo... it's so nice to fall asleep to the ambient light. When we purchased our 3P (to take the kid along), there was no Mtn Glo offered and I miss it, so the 2P is my preferred tent. For couples, pair this tent with the Rapide tent floor pad (fits perfectly in the 2P) and you'll get a great night's sleep.

I have bought this multiple times

I have owned 3 copper spur tents and I can't imagine having a different one. I love the mtnGLO series it makes camping with the kids so much fun and easier when you don't have to mess with finding your headlamp.

Great tent for Alaska

Great for two good friends or family. Works in all weather, even high winds if guyed out properly. I love the two large vestibules on each side. I have used this model (Copper Spur UL2 Regular & HV) heavily since 2011 in Southeast & Interior Alaska and have never been disappointed.

Glo lights poor quality

I have and love the Copper Spur 3 but wanted something a little smaller so purchased the Copper Spur mtn glo 2. The first night at camp noticed an led light out and the rest appeared very dim. The battery container never closed on its own and I ended up duct taping it. By third night wouldn't turn on at all. This should absolutely not be a problem on a tent with this price point. I purchased through Moosejaw and they have been great to work with. Better to not have the light at all if it is not going to be quality!

Great product!

It is great! Small, and light, we love it. It took us a whole 5 minutes and a YouTube video to understand how to assemble but after that it was easy.

Good tent, good materials

First, the good; then, the not. It is a very good design. This will now give me two doors. This tent will be for solo backpacking. But, two doors lets me see out both sides when bears and other critters create havoc in the campsite. The vent when open even gives me a third side view. It is a light tent (a major factor to me) for the design features. I am not sure how it will stand up to wind; but, time will tell. The bad? I took half a star off because the battery cover for the "glow control" needs to be taped on. It did not stay on by itself from the moment it came out of the package. That is not good quality control. Also, I took off half a star because it is not US made. It is made in Asia. Big Agnes, ethical businesses need to charge what they need to charge in order to support American workers. Our economy needs to start making things again. China is a big boy and capable of running its own economy.

Nice ten but not durable

I am a avid backpacker and also a trail guide for my sons Trail Life troop. I have had my tent for less than a year and use it on 7 weekend trips and it already has multiple small holes in the tent floor. I purchase the footprint for the tent to help protect the floor but it didn't seem to help. There are a few other dads who are part of our Trail Life troop who are looking to purchase a good lightweight backpacking tent and I am reluctant to endorse this tent. Today make this a great tent it is a simple fix put a better floor in it.

This Tent is a Breeze!

This tent is super efficient! It's footprint is small enough to pitch almost anywhere, and although it's a bit cozy with two people, I find that as long as you use the gear pockets and vestibule effectively there's plenty of room! Fly is great, holds warmth and keeps everything dry when zipped up, and allows plenty of airflow when the doors are rolled up or in awning mode.

I wish I had bought this tent years ago

I've had a Copper Spur UL 2 for several years and just couldn't justify replacing it with an HV when it was still in great shape. Well, I finally broke down and did it, and my only regret is that I didn't buy the HV years ago. there is SO MUCH ROOM! The classic is a great tent, for two people who want to have an occasional lazy morning in the tent, the HV is so much greater. Thanks Big Agnus for great products and the great customer support that comes along with the products

Favorite Big Agnes Tent Yet

Oh man, I love this tent. The new fly allows you to build an awning with trekking poles, which makes getting in and out of the tent easier and lets you store gear out of the elements, plus basically creates a window if you're stuck inside while raining (which has happened to us). The new storage space at the foot of the tent is super convenient. Not to mention it's really lightweight - we use it for backpacking, car camping and bikepacking.

A good tent that could be a little more durable

The tent is well designed and would suit tall people looking for a lightweight tent. I used this in Tasmania and it stood up to a wild night when a storm came through on the Port Davey Track. Fabrics were quite saturated wondering how it would stand up for a days rain. I'd give this tent 4 stars if it wasn't for the delicate fabrics used. Pros Lightweight Easy setup Reasonably stable Very roomy when used as a one person tent and for tall people say 6 4" Cons Durability - Tent has been used for 5 nights but has already developed small holes in the inner fly. Waterproof - OK for short periods of rain but longer periods could be problematic. If the fabrics were a little more durable it would be a great tent.

Great tent remote doesn't work!

I love my copper spur mtn glow tent but I'm disappointed the remote for the lights never worked, I guess this means I should just use my own power hub but I bought rechargeable aaa's specifically for that. Is it possible to exchange the remote Id love to use it if it works. Otherwise its a fantastic tent loved every moment Ive put it to use.

Favorite All-Around Tent

This is my go to tent for when I want to back country camp comfortably. I took it out on the Eagle Rock Loop trail, and the weather was cold and wet. It's easy to set up in miserable conditions as long as you practice setting it up before hand, with the color-coded clips, including the footprint. I would call this a legit 2-person tent unlike other "2 person tents" that fit one person and gear, but I like using this as a spacious 1 person tent for added comfort. And with the mtnGLO, it's a few extra bucks for some lighting built into the tent weighing a few extra ounces that works well. I have lighter options for backpacking, but when I know I need a reliable free standing tent, this is my absolute go to.

Favorite Tent for almost everything

Still my favorite for 3 years strong from a NOLS WFR. Five stars except for floor. When you want a tent as a single, this model is perfect. Love the lights and extra volume...worth the additional ounces...would have lost my tent once on a Blue blaze off the AT if I had not turned them on! Gear fits in with you, I sleep with my pack under my feet and there is plenty of room. (all food and smellies are in a bear canister or ZPACKS Bear hang...duh). Colors are not obnoxious, sun will wake you up, but still some privacy thru fly. Was using Mylar Emergency Sheet for footprint, but you really need the real footprint despite the weight and cost. Floor is EXTRA flimsy, (sux when my $500 tent has to have tape on the floor). When not hammock camping for true UL (ENO Sub-Link 6) or using my Hyperlite tarp with trekking poles, this is your tent. Use with Big Agnes SLX pad and Kings Canyon fitted quilt for dropping weight in my Hyperlite 3400 Windrider pack on all my AT hikes here in NC. Hope these details help...used in my LNT courses and you could not tell where I camped.

Great tent...worth every penny

I got this tent for a backcountry elk hunt in Colorado..I was really impressed with its durability and ease of set up...after hiking 10 hours the last thing I wanted to do was fight a tent during set up...it went up easy. We got rained on every day over a 2 1/2 week period and it performed perfectly..not a drop got on me or my gear....great product!!

Great Tent, Would Recommend

Love this tent. The Mtn Glo reduces the need to use a headlamp at night or in the mornings.

I've bought lots of expensive tents and circled back to using the Copper Spur HV UL2 mtnGlo as my favorite. Backpacking the Appalachian Trail in sections. Spent 3 weeks in Colorado over summer living in it. Freestanding is a plus. Side step in is a plus (no commando crawl required). Roomy and plenty of headspace. Ventilation is good with two people. Only issue is rain fly zipper catches/sticks pretty much every time!

Great Tent, I'm sold on the Copper Spur and Big Agnes Gear!

The mtnGLO model is my 3rd Copper Spur tent. I have used the others on long thru hikes and wanted to upgrade to the new design and added lights. My wife and I just finished an 18 day thru hike on the John Muir Trail and we used our tent every night. It kept the bugs out and survived hard rainstorms. I highly recommend the mtnGlo version. It was nice to be able use the sewn in lights and ditch the headlamps. It's a nice feature even though there is minimal added weight. Having doors on each side is really nice. The doors are big too making getting out very easy.

Awesome tent

I love the tent. The poles are great and i can put it up in mere minutes. I like the fly system and have become very spoiled by the soft lights in the tent. I dont htink i can ever go back now haha. Room isnt an issue, its me and 150lb of dog and we fit fine. The amount of thought that went into tie backs etc. shows, this is a very functional tent. Some people may not like the lack of privacy if they elect not to utilize the rain fly, but i just use the fly no matter what when i feel privacy is an issue (tight campgrounds etc). I love it and would buy again.

Great tent but personaly would prefer a slight modification.

I had the previous model and the current model is a vast improvement on space and the cross poll lay out has always been my preference. I have one complaint and is because of my personal use. I back pack only in the late fall winter and early spring for a few extra ounces I would like to see the fabric on the lower half stay the same height and continue all the way around the tent instead of the current fabric mesh lay out. That cuts the spindrift and still keeps the weight at a minimum. Just my personnel preference and yes I know that you make this in an expedition ten but I personally can get by just as well with out the bomb proof version and increase in weight. Remember an once in the pack is a pound on the feet. Just a suggestion

Tough and spacious home away from home!

As a journalist and photographer in the Adventure Motorcycle segment, I spend a good deal of time traveling and camping off motorcycles. This tent has been my home away from home since 2016 sheltering me on at least 60 nights in the backcountry. It's been squished in motorcycle panniers, assaulted with the blistering sun in the desert and subject to many rain storms. The extra space in the HV model has been great for spreading out all of my things and being able to move around and change clothes. Simply put it's? just a great piece of equipment!

Weathers Sun, Sand, Wind, and Bad Storms

During a four-day backpacking trip in Grand Canyon, this tent did not disappoint. Spring storms hammered us, forcing us to retreat into the tent for 16 hours. 40-50 mph wind gusts didn't faze this tent! We had the guylines, which are a very cool self-adjusting design, secured to brush around us and we staked it all down tight. We slept through the night without the wind forcing the tent onto our faces once, though it tried! Blowing snow, rain, and sand couldn't penetrate this tent, and we slept incredibly warm during a freezing cold and wet night. We stayed dry, condensation free, and no rain or snow blew in from under the fly. The mtnGLO feature was so nice in the evening as we sat trapped in the tent. The two of us had plenty of room and the lights are bright enough to offer pleasant visibility, but not to blind. The tent's zippers are all straight, which hold up better than rounded ones, and the fly can be opened up to let in a lot of light and air if the weather is good, but I don't like the fly securing loops--my side kept falling open. The optional vent at the top of the fly is a must to avoid condensation. I also appreciate the option of setting up the fly without the mesh tent. This is the tent's third trip out, and we did already tear the mesh (UL tents are fragile!), but we patched it well enough. Just know that these things aren't as sturdy as they are light!

Light and the Lights are awesome

I used this tent several times last summer. It stayed up while in the canyons of Moab while the wind took down my other friends tents. Having mtnGLO while it was raining outside kept me and my book nice and comfortable. The lightweight material has been easy to carry and repack daily. I have recommended the Copper 2 to many friends for the PCT and Continental Divide, they have been satisfied and now I own a Copper HV mtnGLO and I will recommend this to call my friends out there.
