I'd been wanting this tent for a while. I also have a Tiger Wall, that I adore, but the Copper Spur material us a bit less delicate and the ability to set it up with my poles and under the rainfly really does make a difference. The pole option helps with the weight and my first trek out with it I got trapped in a torrential downpour and appreciated the ability to do the rainfly, first so the tent didn't get wet at all. I use a 2 person tent for just me as I like the extra space and so it's one of my weight compromises. You don't need to, but I keep my pack with me (I hang food and all smelly things, but keep my pack) because I use it to prop up my legs at night as I have lower back issues. The extra size is helpful so I can move the pack around when I'm in it without sleeping. One thing that seems silly but makes a huge difference, for me, is the color. I dislike waking up in green or blue tents because of the light. The red and yellow of the Tigerwall and Copper Spur mimic, more, the color of the sun and so I wake up feeling warmer and more refreshed.

Nice tent, cool and cozy color! It doesn't get dark inside the tent when camping near other tents with lights. Though set up and packing is easy and fast. When the tent is wet it dries fast, that's nice too. Material feels breakable, but it's can handel a lot! Cords could be more visible in daytime, tripped a couple of time due to clumsiness :). Would not recommend sleeping with 2 persons (im 170cm 68kg female, another me would be too tight and no room for two-person backpaking gear to keep dry in rain. Very comfy as a 1p tent though (reason I bought it).

The 2 person variant of this tent is perfect for backpacking trips with your dog. The tent has a tapered foot box, so fitting two people in it will require some coordination with sleeping pads, I prefer to keep my pack inside the tent, and there was plenty of room for my sleep system, my dog's sleeping bag, plus my pack/gear. It even kept us dry in a surprise snow storm at elevation. I've also woken up to a soggy rain fly during foggy alpine evenings where the day/night temps vary a lot but the interior has always stayed dry. The footprint is sold separately and is a must have (or make your own). Easy to set up and guy out, good ventilation, roomy and lots of storage.

Comfortable ultralight that's an easy set up. I like the color-coded poles, tent and fly. The fly zipper tends to stick and/or catch, but not a deal breaker. I did tear the tent bag going through tamarisk fields and Big Agnes was kind enough to replace it for me. Great support! Thanks!

I have owned a Copper Spur UL2 for 9 years now and used it on multiple backpacking trips each summer in the mountains of Colorado. My husband and I find it to be very easy to set up, durable, and lightweight. A couple years ago we noticed some minor wear to the tent and had it repaired by Big Agnes. We thought we might lighten our load a little and try out the Fly Creek but found it did not have high enough sides to protect us from the sudden rain and hail storms at high elevation. We are still using our original Copper Spur to this day and are very happy! I see there are some newer updates to the tent like increased storage inside and the option to convert the vestibule into an awning. I think anyone looking to enjoy the great outdoors would be well served by this tent.

Great backpacking tent, light & roomy enough for 2. Greenish color blends in well with scenery. Love the different ways that the fly can be secured as well as privacy screen.

Love this tent, easy to set up, sturdier than it seems. I love all the little pockets. Thought it would be fragile, especially with two dogs, but I haven't had any problems.

This has been my "go-to" tent for years. It is light enough that I use it on solo trips, and roomy enough for me and my young son to share on group trips.

I used this tent during my hiking trips in Bolivia and Peru. It's got the perfect size to fit onto and even inside a 50+ Liter Backpack! It is really spacious for only weighing roughly 1.5kg, especially when I was hiking solo. But also for two people, we had enough space inside, since the vestibules are large enough to fit a 70 Liter Backpack and some shoes on either side. The setup is really easy and once you've done it a few times also quite quickly. It can be used with and without the fly but also fly-only, if you have a matching ground sheet. The only negative part I can mention is that the provided stuff sack ripped because I got lost and hand to fight my way back through some bushes. But if this doesn't happen to you, it should be fine.

Lightweight go to tent for use in three season conditions. It has been successfully used in light unexpected snowfall conditions, in the Yukon, CA. We generally don't use the fly.

Purchased over 14 years ago as my first Big Agnes tent, this Copper Spur has endured a 2 1/2 month coast to coast, across the USA bicycle trip, a long 3 month bicycle tour of New Zealand, and many shorter backpacking and bicycle touring trips around the western US. It has always kept me warm and dry through wind, rain, snow, and the dark of night. One small hole created by a wind blown branch was easily repaired, and the tent continues to impress. I will always buy, recomment Big Agnes products!

This tent has been great for me! I've used it in snow camping (even though it is not 4 season) and the size is perfect for me and my dog for backpacking trips. The freestanding set up is nice and easy.

This has been our backpacking tent for 7+ years and it is still going strong. It is light enough that I have carried it solo (I'm 5'2" and 65+).

At 6'2'' there is only room for one plus gear. Perfect for exploring the hills of Montana.

Very light, large interior, useful pockets, easy to get in and out. I haven't been able to test it in wind and rain yet.

I have had the Copper Spur UL2 for about 5 years and have used it for 3 season camping in multiple locations, from sandy dessert to high alpine and have really enjoyed it. I have found it to be reliable, spacious, versatile and comfortable. The only issues I have ever had with it is during cold and windy nights, when the drafts come right through. I wish there was a way to close up the bottom fly gap more during those times. Other than that, the Copper Spur is a great tent!

I have 2 of these and they have been great. I've used the CS2 for BikePacking the Southern Tier and Route 66. As well as hiking the 6,800 mile American Discovery Trail. A true champion for 8 years. Year 9 all the waterproof tape delaminated. Year 10 poles started snapping. Definitely would recommend.

This is the best, lightest backpacking tent I ever owned. I like it so much, I got the three person version for car camping, especially because the two-person is a bit tight for two adults. Very durable, stood up to30-40 mph winds on the beach. But sand was able to make it under the fly eventually and we slept in sand which was not good. There is ventilation features but if the sun hits the tent in the morning, unobstructed, it's like an oven in there. The newer versions look a little better in this respect. After 10 years, the seam tape is coming off; I re-glued them but it didn't work perfectly. I also popped a hole in the fly stretching it over the pole for the awning over the vestibule. I will patch it and keep trucking. 10 years and hundreds of nights out in the elements, I'd say I got my money's worth.

I've sleeping in this tent for over 6 months all across the us. the floor is the only part that could be tougher but it's lightweight and with an added tarp / pad I set it up in every terrain imaginable.

My last tent was a Copper Spur 2 designed by Jake Lah. I had two complaints: structural stability and durability. The design of the CS1 simply doesn't scale to the 2. The 2 would blow completely flat in even a moderate wind unless each and every guy line was tied down - and there are a LOT of attachment points for which Big Agnes does not supply line. Buy and bring paracord. As to durability: it had the shortest life span of any BA tent I've owned and I've had at least five. The zippers blew out after just two seasons on both doors despite best efforts to keep them clean and functional. The fabric had multiple abrasions and rips on the tent WALLS. It's true that BA doesn't make great tents for desert adventures. But I keep using them because of their SIZE. Still, if you're going to use them in the desert, just know that it won't last long.

Love the new double ripstop materials that's more stretchy and more water repellent. Super light, fast setup and love the fly vent. Pole sections are about 1.5" longer than the ones for my Tiger Wall UL2 so have to go inside main compartment and slide into sleeping bag compartment instead of the "tent pockets" on the outside of my pack.

Care Instructions
Storage
Always make sure your tent is dry and free of debris before storing. Fold and roll your tent a different way each time to avoid permanent creases. Store in a cool, dry place. Never leave your tent in hot temperatures (such as a car trunk or attic space) for long periods of time, as it will damage the material coatings. Storing your tent damp can result in mildew growth, which may cause your tent to smell, leak, or delaminate. Mildew damage is not covered under warranty.
Cleaning
For light cleaning, sponge the product with warm water (not hot).
For more thorough cleaning you will need
Wash basin (or bath tub)-Warm water (not hot)
Waterproof Gear Cleaner (Big Agnes recommend products like Nikwax Tech Wash)
Sponge
Submerge your gear in warm, clean water. Gently agitate with hands. Empty dirty water. Repeat until most of the excess dirt/grime is removed and water is mostly clear
Apply waterproof gear specific wash and gently work into fabric with sponge
Rinse gear thoroughly
Hang it up to dry
Triple check that your gear is completely dry before storage or use
Do not dry clean or machine-wash. Detergents and dry cleaning solvents will damage the fabric and ruin waterproofing
Never use hot water, bleach, liquid detergents, or dishwashing liquids
Allow to dry COMPLETELY before storage or use
Avoid prolonged direct sunlight as UV exposure can compromise waterproofing
Seam Sealing
Big Agnes tents are seam sealed as part of their manufacturing process! This seam tape alone is durable enough to prevent water leakage. Any seams that have been taped do not need to be seam sealed with a liquid sealer unless you want extra protection. Make sure the seam-sealer is completely dry before re-packing your tent. Damage caused by misapplication may void warranty.
Zippers
Keeping your zippers clean will help keep the coils and sliders from wearing out. If filled with dirt, vacuum or brush zippers before storing tent. Big Agnes recommend Gear Aid Zipper Cleaner and Lubricant.
