Excellent

The tent is extremely sturdy and well built, from the very first copper spur to the current model I have been impressed. Can't wait to try the new hyper bead

Love this tent!

Love the space and durability of this tent. Stays dry in heavy rain which is important on a long backpack.

Yes!!!

I have been using my Spur in the Teton Wilderness for the past two summers. It has survived being packed around on horses, about 150 days of being set up and taken down, rain, snow, BIG winds, and a dog. It's still waterproof and going strong. There are actually two of us on crew that have the Spur UL2. Both of us love it. I do handle the zippers with care. It's made to be lightweight. If you treat it as such, its life is only limited by how well you care for it through all your adventures. Thanks Big Agnes You're a gem in the industry ?????

Absolutely loved this tent

Great tent! I took it on a 5 night backpacking trip in desolation wilderness last summer. Easy to set up, and quite cozy. Never really used the awning because we moved arround so much. But if I was staying in a location more than one night I probably would have used it. I have the two man tent but be warned?.. If you have two adults it will get REAL cozy. I slept in it by myself very comfortably. but I imagine it might be tight with another adult.

great tent!

I've had this tent for 2 years for backpacking and I love it. I got the 2 person tent to go with my daughter at times, but have also gone by myself. It's lightweight, very easy and quick to set up. I've been very comfortable in it. We had a bad night with rain and really windy and it held up great with nothing wet inside. Plenty of room for us when it's 2 (with gear outside) and I like the extra room when I'm by myself to have my gear inside. Really loving this tent.

Excellent lightweight tent

This is an awesome lightweight double wall freestanding tent. Incredibly lightweight, easy to set up, and comfortable. My only issue is the marketing. The term "ultralight" is very specific, and when it comes to tents it means being under 2lbs. This tent weighs over 3, plus the weight of the footprint. I don't mean to be nit picky but the term is being way overused now and it's a bit misleading. That aside, it is still incredibly lightweight and a fantastic option for someone looking to shave weight! It would be the first freestanding double wall tent that comes to mind if someone were to ask for a recommendation. Big Agnes is the only major tent retailer I use and suggest to others, and has great customer service. Never disappoints

Great tent

It's a nice tent, but definitely needs to have fly taunt to be waterproof. Set up more casually when the forecast said no rain and when the light rain showed up a small amount of water got in.

Nice design.

I love the Copper Spur 2 person. The color coded loops and the ceiling pockets are well designed. Easy to put up and move, if necessary.

Latest generation of a great tent.

I have an older version (two-person) of this tent and love it. I have had it for about 15 years. I did replace the fly on it (UV damage), but I think that it is the best two-person tent available. Separate entrances, and about 1.5 pounds per person. A friend has the new version, and I am drooling over it.

Excellent tent

I used this tent to bike the Great Divide and Baja Divide under conditions that ranged from true desert to alpine snow to sandy beaches. Did well in all. My only complaint is that the fly vestibule rarely snugs down tight, which can create flapping in high winds.

Great Tent

First use of the tent was hiking the Art Loeb trail in Western NC. My very first night winds gusted to 25 and the temperature was below freezing. The tent handled like a champ. The combination of weight, windproof and easy of setup makes me happy I selected this tent. 100% would buy this tent again.

Great for backpacking!

I've had this tent for over 5 years. I mostly use it for backpacking and camping, and it has been great; lightweight, easy to setup and disassemble, sturdy, and roomy for a two-person tent. Since the footprint is sold separately and a bit expensive, I created my own footprint using Tyvek which works really well. Amazing customer support too. Last year, I noticed the shock cords had lost its elasticity. Big Agnes had me mail them in and they repaired it for free! I just had to pay for shipping.

The go anywhere, do anything tent!

This tent is my go to tent. Light enough to go solo with, but enough room for two moderately sized adults if minimalist is your style. It does get a bit cramped if both adults are 6'+ and broad shouldered. I have other tents, but this is my go to warm weather 2.5 season tent.

Excellent Tent

This tent rolled up small and supported my need pack compactly for a six week cross-country road trip with car camping in a small car. It was fast to set up and both wind proof and waterproof.

Great freestanding comfy tent

Light enough for 1, great for a cozy 2 person. Fit a 25" and 20" pad inside (not sure 2x 25s would fit). Easy setup and tear down with freestanding. Side pockets good for stuff in pants pocket, gear loft good for extra layer or drying something out

Great 2 person UL tent

Love everything about this tent except it does leak through the floor. If you use this in the rain expect some damp areas on the edges of the tent. We ultimately pitched a tarp over the tent to help with wet areas around the tent which really helped. Otherwise, for being a 2 there is enough room inside and screen pouches for a few personal items. There is also room under the rain fly for shoes and possibly a small pack. My favorite feature is there are doors on both sides so you don't have to climb over your partner to get in and out of it! Would recommend even though I've had issues with the damp floor.

Big Agnes tents, excellent products and customer service.

I got this as a replacement for a BA Tiger wall 2. After a few years, the TW was in need of an upgrade. I contacted BA and mailed my old tent in. It was evaluated and I was given a substantial credit toward a new product. I chose the CS HV UL2 and couldn't be happier. I like the freestanding construction and that I have full use of the interior space. I am surprised at how light it is - very comparable to the TW. I haven't had it out on trail yet but, it should serve me well when I start my AT LASH in Feb '24. I spent several nights in my TW with temps in the 20's and anticipate the same performance from the CS. I'm impressed with the construction and all the storage space. Looking forward to several years of backcountry use.

Wouldn't buy again

I used the Copper SPur HVUL2 for only one season, by my third outing the fly buckles had deteriorated and broken. Could not be attached to the footprint to keep it safe. By this time, I had only slept in the tent for no more than 9 nights. From day one, the poor quality zipper had constant issues and snags but was mangeable with precarious caution albeit annoying to have to do this every single time you exit your tent. I stored the tent safely until this september during a trip to the eastern sierras. During a long burst of rain showers, the rainfly had wetted out and sagged. I quickly went out and tightened the slack on my guy lines. However, the zipper snags became more prominent no matter how careful and how slowly I unzipped/ zipped up. On one particular occasion that night, I had the absolute worse snag during the showers. I was unable to get it lose, completely soaked my gear trying to fix it, and had the zipper coils come undone completely from the tent. Rendering it utterly useless during this quite wet outing. I reached out to Big Agnes as this tent was purchased with the warranty and customer service in mind, as they are supposedly the best in biz. I can resoundingly mentioned that Big Agnes customer service does not care about my purchase or has worked in resolving this matter. In total, I have only used this tent for fifteen nights in the span of 13 months. With the buckles nonexistent and the zipper faulty, they have shown only a blaring lack of empathy and care to help me get back out. I've only been offered a 40% discount with not ability to just send a new rainfly. I have no intention in sending off more plastic to garbage and consuming yet another tent that would have the same issues and abysmal customer support. I wouldn't recommend this tent to any serious backpacker. Although light, it is incredibly flimsy and cheap. Not a tent that be depended on.

Used on the AT

Switched out and got this for my AT thru-hike. Had to get off trail but starting over in 2024 and this tent is going back out. People who say it is flimsy are clueless. It's a UL tent, kind of. If you want a battle axe prepare for more weight.

Copper Spur HVUL2

Great tent for one, certainly a bit small for 2 grown adults unless one is on the smaller side. Easy set up, super light and sheds rain like crazy. The tent material is very lightweight and it is smart to use care when zipping the fly and doors open and close. Make sure to get the footprint to protect the bottom of the tent.
