Living in Minnesota we are currently stuck in the "No Man's Land" between winter and summer. I took the one nice Saturday we recently had and set the tent up in the yard, so I can in no way speak to actual usage, but to first impressions. Our purpose in buying this tent was to give us an option that took up less room in our vehicle and was light enough for bikepacking (someday) and was easier to set up than our current six-person behemoth. This tent fits that bill! It is easy to set up and take down. The color-coded tabs between the footprint, tent, and rain fly are helpful. The storage space under the vestibule was a major selling point for us. We also appreciate the two-door design so you don't have to disturb your partner too much on a midnight bathroom run! Since I have no long-term field experience I can't speak to wind/rain resistance, ventilation during actual field use, etc. I will say I feel like the design is sound, so we shall see. The one complaint I have is that the tent comes with just enough stakes to stake down the footprint and the tent, but not enough to fully stake out the rain fly.

Used this tent backpacking in dolly sods, WV. The tent combined with the footprint held up great through a heavy downpour the second night, keeping me, two other people, and two dogs dry and warm. The smaller vestibule was able to hold my backpack and some other miscellaneous junk to keep the larger 'garage' opened up for anyone that needed some shelter. We were able to set up two small camping chairs underneath and made the most out of a weather wise miserable night. In the future, I'll probably tie the line coming off the large vestibule up higher to a tree or something to give the area a little more headspace, but really couldn't complain given the circumstances. Even in nicer weather, the 'garage' was utilized by nearly everybody to keep various Knick knacks dry. This tent saved the day in a huge way!

Bought it as a versatile tent. Not too heavy or bulky for short treks but also comfortable enough to camp by your rig. The giant vestibule was a great place to keep gear dry during a rainy hunting trip and a great way to accommodate extra people hiking Mt Adams.

I'm an adventure rider. This tent allows me to store gear, access it, and prepare things in the larger vestibule (esp if raining). But I can still access the tent and leave my boots, hat and coat via the vestibule at the other end. This gets overlooked and is a big bonus for me.

I bought this tent based on online research. It surpassed my expectations with flying colours this past weekend. Weather was super windy and raining, and the Blacktail Hotel smiled at it. Everything stayed dry n warm. The gear pockets are a great feature I have never had before in a tent.

Taking it a few times car camping with my dog. The weather has been nice every time. So far the quality is very good and we have enjoyed the extra space in the vestibule.

Super easy to set up and repack. For the coin this is the best 2 person on the market. I've taken it on several trips now and it's performed flawlessly. I'm a hybrid dirtbag/guide/businessman/Eagle Scout, anytime someone asks for my arguably "pro" advice on an reasonably priced feature rich tent, I always have the same answer, the Blacktail hotel. Mahalo BA for helping me sound like I know what I'm talking about. ALOHA????

I used it in the mountains, at the bottom of a gorge, next to a river. There was decent wind and good amount of rain. This tent held up fantastic. Probably the first tent I've ever bought that I don't have any complaints about! It is a little heavier than some other options but I knew that going into it and in my mind it was worth the few extra pounds. Me and my girlfriend fit perfectly. I couldn't say enough good things about this tent!

Three season, freestanding, backpacking tent with extended vestibule
The Blacktail series remains as one of our longest-running tent series - a tried and true shelter with excellent value for backpackers who want a super comfortable tent to bring on the trail. The Blacktail Hotel features a massive, side-entry vestibule attached to the fly for bikes, climbing gear, or your best furry friend. Double doors, a simplified symmetrical pole structure, and additional dry storage make backcountry trips with a smelly partner?or three?more comfortable than you may have thought possible.
