This leash is sturdy, comfortable on my hand, a good length and works perfectly with the Ruffwear harness. I am very happy with both items, they are great quality and worth every penny for my sometimes unruly puppy!

I love the leash. It's easy on my hands, the added loop near the clasp is really handy and I really like the clasp. It's easy on easy off and stays put.

We love the matching collar, harness, and leash. The leash is smooth, very innovative color, easy to clip on and perfect length. We tie **** baggie to the handle and we are good to go.

It?s the best leash I have ever had! It?s light when you?re carrying it, the clip is easy to use, the handle is perfectly cushioned? And my favorite part besides the bag holder split at the top? The leash is alright...for my taste it's too light and lacks any heft. It's also a shorter leash. I ordered this online and should have waited to see it in a store before purchasing. I'll use as a spare, but not what I was hoping for!

This is my first leash with a padded strap. I love this feature as well as the lower loop to gain tighter control of my pup. The main thing I don’t like is that the clasp doesn’t rotate and hence tangles up easy. I haven’t figured out what is going on- but twice when I thought the leash was properly clasped to the collar, I realized my 10week old puppy had become detached from the leash. I haven’t been able to figure out why. My guess is that I’m only partially getting the clasp hooked and it is coming unlatched mid-walk. Lesson learned- visually and physically check attachment before proceeding on your walk. I would also recommend looking at the design to make it so it is either on or off- no in-between.

We bought a collar and leash at the same time. The durability of the leash has been great. The clasp is very easy to hook onto the Ruff Wear collar. We’ve had no issues with it coming loose as other reviews have mentioned. I like the design of having a “long loop” in leash closer to collar where one can grab to control one’s dog better.

As a Ruffwear enthusiast, I was looking forward to using my recently purchased Front Range Dog Lead on an 8 week old Australian Koolie sheepdog pup (noted as one of the most energetic of all dog breeds). The prime reason for this selection was its light weight construction so that it could be used with a Gentle Leader (nose) or front no-pull harness without any discomfort for the pup. Unfortunately, this proved to be a mistake! On the first day the pup, through its excitement/enthusiasm, disengaged the aluminium clip and escaped. Fortunately this happened in parkland and the pup was fairly easy to coach back. However, had it been next to a road the end result could have been disastrous. Lesson learnt - the aluminium spring loaded catch can be opened if the spring side rubs against either the front harness and its buckles (opposite direction to the photo) or the dog’s shoulder blades. To avoid this, the solid aluminium side should always face towards the dog’s body with the spring catch facing the other direction. This works OK if the dog consistently heels on one side but with pups this cannot be guaranteed. One solution is to insert a rubber or plastic grommet under the upper spring side as shown in the attached photo (in this case a split section of sprinkler riser) - but this has the inconvenience of a fiddly attachment or release of the lead. Given these problems, the manufacturer should point out that the lead cannot be used safely with either Gentle Leaders or front pull harness. Alternatively they could include an appropriate grommet to ensure the safety of our pets. The other issue with the lead is that, if it's used with either of the 2 harnesses mentioned above, it can be easily frayed with puppy teeth right from the outset. This is more problematic given that there is an extra loop dangling within the pups peripheral vision and makes it very tempting to grasp and commence a tug-of-war. However, as the pup matures, the Front Range works well if attached to a ring on the collar or the back of a harness provided the full metal side of the clip faces downwards. Please note that I’ve been a great fan of Ruffwear leads and have both Knot-a-Leash and Just-a-Cinch leads for my other dogs. These, together with Knot-a-Collars, are without a doubt the best products on the market and I can attest to their durability over the last 15 years for active working dogs. (P.S. Please bring back the olive green climbing rope colour in this series!) Unfortunately, I wish I had purchased another Knot-a-Leash from the outset. Hope this review helps.

I have arthritis and so initially I was so pleased with the clasp that you don't have to squeeze, just clip it on! However, it's actually too easy. My feedback to the designers would be that the tongue of the clasp should be stiffer/require more force to open. I've had a few similar experiences to the people reporting the clasp coming undone (fortunately not completely, as we usually use one of those harnesses with two rings together on the back, and only one has worked its way out at a time). But our dog has a high prey drive and no traffic smarts, and we just can't risk it. I appreciate the padded handle and good looks, so will be trying the crag leash next.

I like the length of the leash and the short handle near the buckle. Those features were worth the purchase. The regular handle strap is really big and I don't really see the point of the padding. It makes it stiff and doesn't feel very comfortable yet. I'm still getting used to it, I guess!

This is a very good product. I’m glad I purchased at the same time I purchased the matching halter. My wife likes the extra loop closer to the dog. I’m much taller, so I use the loop at the end of the leash.

This leash is great; very easy to attach and detach and the soft handle is nice but the fabric does not seem as heavy duty as my previous Ruffwear leash. It’s not much of a concern for me but it may be a bit of a concern for a big dog or after it’s been chewed up a bit. My biggest grip with the not-as-heavy-duty is that if you happen to get a knot in the leash, it is a pain to undo it.

I got the FrontRange leash and harness when Lira partially tore her CCL and needed to be kept on a leash for the first time since being a pup. The quick clip is easy to use even with gloves on. The lower grip is a great feature, I often need to really stop Lira if I need better control.
