Ordered the Grip Trex for our Brittany dog who is a real runner out on the trails. Her paws were splitting and bleeding on rough / icy trails. She got used to the boots immediately and motors along without noticing them. To my surprise, the boots stay on! And this is a dog that sprints through brush. I will say that she is getting little blisters on the tops of her paws as her ?knuckles? adapt to the pressure points. Hoping that will pass as her paws adjust to the boots with calluses. Overall - very satisfied with the purchase and looking forward to more adventures with our pup.

We spend a lot of time in central Oregon camping and adventuring. There's a lot of obsidian out there, which can be sharp, so we bought these in case we needed them hiking or backpacking with our 40lb Spitz/Husky mix, Roo. They're also a recommendation for our Earthquake emergency kit from our good friend, who's also a veterinarian. These things take a lot of training to get your dog comfortable with them. Start slow, put them on and take them off casually in the house, reward heavily. It took a long time to get her to walk around in them, but she tolerates them now, and we'll take that. I work at REI, and a lot of these get returned with the explanation of "dog didn't like them," but they're not the same kind of gear as a sweater or collar. Practically, we paired them with the socks, which help get the boots on and off, we cinch them pretty tight to keep them on, and we giggle when our dog walks like a Clydesdale in them. But the couple times we've needed them, we've been really glad to have them. Will probably buy the polar version before next winter, as these have dirt, but not snow traction to them.

Shiloh and I have been using these booties for at least two years now and we've covered many miles in them. We have hiked the Grand Canyon, multiple trails in Sedona, all through Malibu, and all over Flagstaff and Big Bear in these. The only time we had difficulty with them was on a back packing trip through the San Gabriel mountains. The boots had rubbed her paws raw and removed her fur...I felt terrible. For longer distances I recommend putting the ruff wear socks on under the booties or using Coban wrap. After doing that we haven't had an issue since. They have endured heat, rain, mud, dust, etc. I'll be picking up a new set in the near future :) Shiloh is a 60 lb Golden Retriever.

I really like the shoes they help us hike in all terrain and I specifically like them because my pup is not bringing in any salt or dirt from our winter walks or our hikes! She’s a goldendoodle so her fur gets muddy quick! Definitely recommend these boots!

We had to reorder the front boots a second time since we ‘d ordered them too big the first time. Added the socks (that cover the dew claw) and now we can get his feet in his boots. While these aren’t “snow boots” they do protect his feet from the snow road salt and gravel. 8 year old guy is a border collie/lab mix and loves to run. These did protect his pads. Snow did get down his boots but he didn’t seem to mind.

My dog has been using his boots to go out in the rain so far. Winter is not here yet in my area. He doesn't mind wearing them at all. These boots are of really great quality and should last a long time.

I have used Grip Trex boots on all of my Service Dogs, because the pavement in parking lots here in the South can get upwards of 130 - 150 degrees (F). I keep a laser thermometer in the car - and I have multiple pairs of boots for each dog, because there is one in the house, one in the go-bag, and one in the car. The boot liners are especially nice - but that's for another review - The boots are outstanding and I've not found better quality anywhere. Thanks!

No knock on the product. It’s just taking a while for my dog to warm up to them.

It took a couple weeks for him to get used to wearing these boots. We used treats to reinforce him keeping them on. I read other reviews and they recommended the socks and that worked really well. We used them to walk around Joshua Tree National Park and it was very hot and Cholla cactus on the grounds. These boots were perfect and we highly recommend them

My Labrador Retriever is 14 years old and has been dragging his back feet. This has created sores on the tops of his back feet when he goes for a walk. Using the Grip Trex Dog Boots has kept him sore free, even though he uses the top of the boot for protection and comfort.

Initially I ordered these booties first hiking with my young shepherd in the desert- to protect her paws from hot pavement and cactus burrs. Now she is almost 14 years old and losing her ability to control her back legs. She drags her feet And sometimes walks on her knuckles. These booties help protect her nails from bring ground to the quick and help her walk on her pads. They are sturdy, cute and the best booties out there!

Excellent...I have used a variety of dog boots through the years. Grip Trex Boots are easy to put on, they stay on, and the grid sole keeps dog's feet off the hot blacktop pavement.

We've taken them on a handful of hikes. My dog does not seem bothered by them at all and they stay on just fine. Good traction in a a variety of terrains.

We hiked all over the San Juans, and Sosa was at our side the whole time. We ascended Ballard Peak, La Junta Peak, Ajax Peak and more. Sosa’s little paws never got sore, even over the roughest scree. Plus the sight of a cute little Cavalier with red hiking booties delighted everyone we passed on the trail.

It was hard to imagine dog shoes staying on my pup, but these worked perfectly. We backpack frequently and after he tore and blistered his paws on a recent trip we invested in these for him to wear on hot days. He wore them for a 3 mile stretch with multiple creek crossings and they didn't need a single adjustment. We're so glad we don't have to worry about his paws anymore. Also great to pack as a just in case first aid item in case there is an unexpected paw injury.

when Simba wears the boots he loves running around the house which has hardwood floors, otherwise he just slips and cannot get any traction. the problem is that the top of the boot rubs against his thumb (the nail up the leg). so he cannot wear them too long as that irritates him too much. i recommend that the boots should go up higher the leg. this would also probably help with the boots spinning around on his paw once in a while

Anna, our Berner wears the boots on all four paws when we go hiking. She can trample into the woods without fear. We ordered the 4-set and realized that the size we chose was too small for her front paws. Even though we measured her feet using the instructions, we soon realized that Anna spreads her toes out wide when she runs so it made the smaller boots uncomfortable. With the new size, she loves them!!!! We love them!

My beloved 11-year-old golden retriever has back leg weakness. His back legs splay at times on our hardwood floors. He also drags his back leg paws sometimes. The grip trex booties gives Crosby the support he needs to stand tall and protect his pads and nails when he goes for a walk. They are an essential piece of equipment for Crosby, and he wears his booties every day.

Quality made so they will last. I have a Husky so she needs to get out for exercise but sadly her paws were getting dry and cracked from the heat of the ground. These boots helped save her paws. Plus she loves to go on hikes with us and now I don’t have to worry about her getting injured from sticks and sharp rocks.

These boots have been great for going on walks when the weather is hot. Took a bit of training but the boys are getting better every time.

This our second pair of grip Tex boots. Our poodles love wearing them. They are therapy dogs and have to walk through hot parking lots to get to hospitals and nursing homes. They keep their feet safe. We need to buy another set for our 3rd therapy dog!

Take your time to get your pup used to the boots. They are well made and protection is great. Only issue I have had is the boots can rotate. Just have to tighten the strap

I wish there were an option for elderly dogs.

I have been buying these dog boots for years - either through the site or through my dog’s swim therapy location. While I loved the boots more when my dog used to be able to hike in them (they are an awesome option for hiking, sand, cold, younameit), now I simply need boots he can wear while walking in his wheelchair. He drags his feet now and used to tear through a pair each month typically. Now we add shoe glue to lengthen the life of them. I will say there is an entire market of people wit...

Love Grip Trex!
By Grace C.
All 4 of my dogs have Grip Trex. This is my service dog’s second set of Grip Trex. She wears them tons and the first set lasted very well! If you are in search of a good set of shoes for your dog I highly recommend Grip Trex! Grip Trex stay on with running and playing and in heat and snow.
If your dog likes to join you in your outdoor adventures, consider the RuffWear Bark'n Boots Grip Trex Dog Boots to keep his or her paws comfortable and protected. Featuring a rugged and durable Vibram outsole with rugged lugs, the Bark'n Boots Grip Trex Dog Boots offer optimal traction on a variety of terrains. The breathable mesh upper keeps air circulating over sensitive paws while keeping dirt and debris out. You can customize the fit with the hook and loop closure that wraps around the narrowest part of your dog's leg for a secure fit. A gusset design lets the Bark'n Boots Grip Trex Dog Boots open wide to make it easy to put on and take off. And when you're out after dark, the reflective trim makes sure your dog is seen in low light conditions.
